A remake of a Malayalam movie, Kathanayagan is a great stress buster and anytime watch. I don't remember how many times i have see this! 'Crazy' Mohan in top form, his dialogues aptly and humorously rendered by Pandiarajan, SV Shekar, Neelu, Kallapatti Singaram, the new manager, Gaja, Malaysia Vasudevan, SS Chandran, 'Bayilwan' Ranganathan and his partner. Some standout scenes: Neelu's reaction when he questions the late coming, Gaja helping the travel, Bayilwan running helter-skelter every time he spots the CIDs, MV's priceless reaction after opening the suitcase, choosing the weapons to die and fight with the tall villain. HaHaHa......

This is a full length comedy movie with no frills. Hilarious dialogues (penned by the genius Crazy Mohan) and timing of dialogue delivery by S.Ve.Shekar and Pandiarajan are the highlights of this movie.Though the plot has been completely remade from a super hit Malayalam movie called Nadodikathu (thanks to the original writers for a simple yet creative plot), the screenplay of the Tamil version has been very well adapted and modified where necessary, to cater to the Tamil movie going audience. Obviously, Crazy Mohan has given the movie a midas touch by handling the dialogues - which also makes the movie distinct from its Malayalam parent. Also it makes a huge difference when very unconventional actors, especially known for their comedy timing, such as, S.Ve.Shekhar, Pandiarajan, S.S.Chandran, Kallapatti Singaram and Manorama are on the cast of the movie. Overall, a great plot, well- done, natural and un-polluted comedy movie that is so hard to be seen in Tamil movie industry now a days.

skbepositive24 December 2021Simple and Superb movie. Healthy comedy movie. Of course it is remake of malayalam movie. But well executed. I really admire and like the locations they have chosen, especially the house and the locations of Mootakaran chavadi where Sv sekar and Pandiyarajan use to stay. Also, the Kerala location where Rekha and Pandiyarajan stays. Cinematography was awesome. Rekha and Ramakrishna homely beauties rocks the screen. Sv and Pandiyarajan dialogue delveries are great. Pandiyarajan acting was awesome, not only in comedy sequences, also in sentiment scene's, when he use to speak with his mother, with Rekha and with ss chandran. I still remember when this movie was Telecasted for the first time in DD1,many school children's enjoyed this movie and next day the scenes from this movie were the talk of the schools.
