A nice documentary on an underrated movie
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World is the ultimate geek movie. It's directed by the ever so geeky Edgar Wright, stars a lot of geeky cast members and has countless references to comic books, anime, manga, video games and Kung Fu movies.

It also features the sexy Mary Winstead and Brie Larson as two very sexy characters.

The doc opens with Edgar explaining that after Shaun of the Dead, he was asked to do this movie due to his style of wipes, transitions, omens and camera work. Edgar was the perfect guy to direct this movie.

Bryan Lee O'Malley explains that a lot of the locations in Toronto are used in his book and are used in the movie.

Then we learn about the casting. Prep on this movie began on 2004 and Edgar thought he found the perfect Scott Pilgrim, Michael Cera, but he was too young. Fortunatley after Hot Fuzz, Edgar was ready to take on a bigger budgeted movie and Cera was old enough to play the 22 year old Scott.

Then we learn about the costume design. Bryan Lee O'Malley liked Ramona's last outfit so much, he stole it and used it in the 6th and final book. The book wasn't finished yet during the movie's production. So the ending of the book is a lot different to the ending of the movie. Personally, I prefer the book to the movie.

Then we get to see the cast train for the fight scenes. For some reason Kieran Culken is training with them. I dunno why, he doesn't do any fight scenes in the movie.

Mae Whitman ("She looks like an evil care bear in her make up" says Edgar) had been training for 2 weeks in LA before training in Toronto.

Jason Schwartzman said that he was trying to look cool for his fight scene.

The cast also get asked "Have you done this before?" and they answer "No".

Mary Winstead explains that filming fight scenes are very slow and take forever to shoot. She shows off some sexy fight moves and was able to perform them due to her background as a dancer.

The doc ends with everyone explaining how great Wright is, which is my least favourite part, I hate ass-kissery.

But it's a fun doc on a fun movie.
