Dia Mirza's wedding in Delhi on Saturday evening with filmmaker Sahil Sangha was supposed to be a non-filmy affair. However some of Dia's dear friends from the film industry did finally turn up. These were mostly Dia's old buddies and the entire team of her first production Love Breakups Zindagi was there. This was the film during which Dia's relationship with Sahil grew and cemented into an indelible togetherness. Hence the presence of the film's team. There was Zayed Khan who had played Dia's male lead in Love Breakups Zindagi. There were Pallavi Sharda and Satyadeep Mishra who played the second lead. There was also Cyrus Sahukar who was part of the film's cast. Interestingly Aditi Rao Hydari who was formerly married to Satyadeep Mishra was also at the Dia's wedding. She may be seldom spotted on screen but Dia Mirza has a lot going on considering that she is very ambitious about taking her home production Born Free Entertainment forward. After Love Breakups Zindagi, Dia and her fiancee Sahil Sangha came up with the Vidya Balan starrer Bobby Jasoos and now after the release of the film, Dia has announced her marriage. Though the actress was supposed to tie the knot with beau Sahil Sangha last year, Bobby Jasoos became the priority in her life and their wedding was postponed. While throughout the promotions, Dia maintained that her marriage has been shifted to 2015, at the India International Jewellery Week, Dia revealed that she will be tying the knot in October. Dia was the showstopper at the event and she walked the ramp for designer Shobhana. After the event, the actress also stated that they will be preparing for the wedding from next week.

Born Free Entertainment comes back with its second release and this time with ten times more the confidence. With Love Breakups Zindagi they played it safe but with Bobby Jasoos they take a leap and it pays off.
Samar Shaikh’s is Born Free Entertainment’s weapon of choice and boy do they strike! Vidya Balan leads a cast for the first time since Kahaani and this time for a wholesome entertainer for all ages.
And although ‘wholesome entertainer’ may conjure images of yet another mediocre formularistic Bollywood film let me assure you Bobby Jasoos is anything but.
Set against the culturally rich backdrop of bustling Hyderabad, the film boasts of a high level of detail as far as the backdrop is concerned. From the scenery, to the linguistic to the life style, it all seems to be a slice of life from the heritage city.

We have loved her work as an actress, but now Dia Mirza has taken on a new avatar. With Born Free Entertainment, Ms. Mirza, along with fiancé Sahil Sangha, started a production company to make the films and tell the stories they felt needed to be told. Their first production was the modern rom-com Love Breakups Zindagi. For their next film, they took on something that has not been seen in Indian cinema before… a female private investigator. Starring Vidya Balan, Bobby Jasoos, which hits theaters on Friday, tells the story of a girl who has a rather unusual dream to be the number one detective in the old city area of Hyderabad.
We got the fabulous chance to chat with Dia about all things Bobby Jasoos and her passion for the project came through in every line. Full of laughter and wonderful answers, Dia gave us the producer’s...

Bobby Jasoos is Born Free Entertainment’s second offering after the romantic comedy Love Breakups Zindagi. The film is set in Hyderabad and stars Vidya Balan as an aspirational detective. Balan is supported by an impressive list of artists, comprising of Supriya Pathak (Ram-Leela), Arjan Bajwa (Fashion), Ali Fazal (3 Idiots and Fukrey) and Tanvi Azmi (Dushman).
The musical-lyrical duo of Shantanu Moitra and Swanand Kirkire (3 Idiots, Parineeta) are the helm of the soundtrack, which features the vocals of Neeraj Sridhar, Shreya Ghoshal and Papon (‘Kyon’ – Barfi) amongst others. It is a short fare comprising of 5 tracks, thankfully devoid of any mindless filler remixes.
The album commences with the celebratory Jashn, which is energetically rendered by Shreya Ghoshal and Bonnie Chakraborty. It is a fast paced track with a nice Southern vibe and decent lyrics from Kirkire. It feels like an introductory track for the film’s heroine with the first...

It is confirmed. Bollywood actress and producer Dia Mirza has chosen the social network to make public her engagement to long-time partner Sahil Sangha. The actress tweeted, “Officially engaged. #NYC” and posted a picture of the two from the green carpet at the Iifa 2014 Awards, held last weekend at Florida, Us.

2011 was a great year for music in the Hindi film industry with an eclectic mix of styles, moods, vibes, beats, fresh new sounds and cool grooves. The songs ranged from romantic ballads, to full on rock, to the playful, the funny, the traditional, the internationally flavored ones and everything in-between and even some with the track tinged with a little bit of each. So many of the soundtracks this year were so good that it was not just one song that was killer good, it was most of them. Because so many albums this year were such a good collection of brilliant songs, think Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Delhi Belly, Rockstar and more, we had a tough time limiting ourselves to 25 Best Songs of the year, so we thought why try and decided to go with 50! We now present the 50 best songs of 2011!

Our leading ladies and item girls will be nowhere near half as attractive without the talented singers that voice their musical numbers. What’s more, while our cinematic experiences with our on-screen goddesses have a time limit, our playback goddesses are always with us in iPods, tablets, computers, radios and more. This year Bollyspice salutes the 10 female playback singers who astounded us with their vocals throughout the year.

Ms, Bhasin (of ‘Viva!’ and ‘Kuch Khaas’ (Fashion) fame) epitomised the image of a Punjabi rock chick and commanded a nation to rock and roll with her in ‘Dhunki’ (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan). While Katrina Kaif may/may not have done justice to her vocalisations, Neha sure did make a place for herself in our hearts and on this list.

Playback singers are the unsung heroes of Indian Cinema (no pun intended). This year, for the very first time, Bollyspice would like to congratulate the following 10 male playback singers for their outstanding work in Indian Cinema in 2011.
10. Mika Singh
No one does a mass entertainer quite like Mika Singh and 2011 was no different with crowd-pleasing hits like like ‘Desi Beats’ (Bodyguard), ‘Dhinka Chika’ (Ready), ‘Saj Dhaj Ke’ (Mausam), ‘Pyaar Do’ (Thank You), ‘F.A.L.T.U’ and ‘Hero’ (Desi Boyz).
9. Shankar Mahadevan
Shankar Mahadevan began the year with a brilliant desi/urban mesh-up, ‘Rola Pe Gaya’ (Patiala House) and followed through with thought provoking ‘Der Lagi’ (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) and ‘Roshni’ (Aarakshan). However, it was the obscure ‘Chand Pal Ke Humsafar’ (Mod) that was the most impressive.

2011 was a year filled with good music and many outstanding song picturizations. In this top fifteen we will acknowledge all the choreographers, art directors, cinematographers, performers and many more who have worked very hard to entertain us.
15. ‘Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se’ – Love Breakups Zindagi
This song is not on the soundtrack of Love Breakups Zindagi. It is actually a renewed version of the same song from the movie Khudgarz from 1987. The song comes at a point in the film when the whole family is together and the youngsters in the family perform to a song in order to entertain the guests. And what better song to perform to on a wedding than ‘Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se’. A huge, disco style stage is set up with lights and all. The choreography is a bit old school and brings back memories of the late 80s and 90s, which is quite...

Unfortunately, despite the amount of good films out in 2011, there were some disastrous duds that landed in the cinemas that were absolute dreck and deserved tomatoes heaped at them. We had lots of Kangna being chased around by old men, Chichi being a libidinous 40 year old virgin, and the ubiquitous Ram Gopal Verma swinging the camera lens all through Mahie Gill. Though to be quite honest, there were more wasted potential in some half-good movies than the usual awful comedies offered every Friday. So here’s a look at all that was rubbish and built up our anger this year.
The Dreadful Debutante Award – Nargis Fakhri
As she pursed her injected lips together, the audience lets out collective groan as the unfortunate dubbing artiste voices for her ‘Bugger Off!’ in one of the most anticipated films came one of the most awaited debuts from this gorgeous gal from New York.

As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. The films on this list are not any different. They were well-intentioned films that disappointed in the end. Now that 2011 is over, we take look at the films that left a great deal to be desired.
Ra.One
The promotion and hype for this film began even before it went to the floor. Releasing in the wake of Endhiran, it was set to outdo everything and anything that has ever been done in Indian cinema. It was to be the Mughal-e-Azam of the 21st Century. Alas, it was not so.
The film had great potential and the storyline would have been credible but it failed in execution. Between the stereotypes, nostalgia and likeable but ultimately unremarkable music, Ra.One is like the kid who brings all his toys to the playground to impress everyone but in the end alienates people.

Another week, another rom-com. This week it was Love BreakUps Zindagi, a film from the newly formed production house Born Free Entertainment, the baby of Dia Mirza, Zayed Khan and Sahil Sangha. The promos gave a fresh vibe and hence, despite the lead roles being played by not-so-inspiring actors like Zayed and Dia, I sat down to watch Love Breakups Zindagi hoping to be surprised. Even though Lbz didn’t surprise me, didn’t entertain me much, it wasn’t a total disappointment either. Directed by Sahil Sangha, the cast also included Cyrus Sahukar, Umang Jain, Tisca Chopra, Satyadeep Misra, Auritra Ghosh, Pallavi Sharda, and Vaibhav Talwar.
Jai (Zayed Khan) and Naina (Dia Mirza) are young, successful and upmarket, so is their circle of friends. Stuck in unsatisfactory relationships, they meet at their friends’ wedding and sparks fly. Blessedly, the characters who.

If you are a fan of Bollywood, no matter where you are in the world, I bet at some point you have had daydreams of being a star in a Bollywood film. You could see yourself romancing your favorite hero or heroine and perhaps even dancing in the rain or on a mountaintop in Switzerland. If as a young child you also loved to dance, sing or act then Bollywood was not only a daydream, it was your goal. Even while growing up in Australia, Pallavi Sharda had dreams of dancing and acting in Hindi cinema and was always involved in theater and dance; she is trained in the classical dance Bharatha Natyam. Pallavi went the academic route after High School, but finally the call of being in films became too loud and she decided to try her luck in Mumbai. Her first big break was starring opposite Manoj Bajpayee in Dus Tola.
