  • I think the problem was "too many fish in the pond" You had a great story with the character of Dan going over the edge. The fact that he was put in a place where he had to go to meetings with older men could have been a heart wrenching gem. Great idea. Unfort. it got muddled with all these weird side stories. I kept saying "huh?" The whole strange character of Charlotte was wacko and unneeded. I love Christopher Lloyd but he was over the top and would have been better in the mens group. Jerry Stillers comedic timing was way under utilized.Tom Pelphrey is an actor with great range who could have really made a mark with this. Its really too bad. Hopefully he will find a role that will showcase his talent.

This film tries to be funny following formula and using pretentious dialog. It is in search of a theme, which it never achieves.

After a failed attempt at suicide, Dan (Tom Pelphrey) is placed in psychiatric care under Dr. Bernstein (Robert Vaughn). The movie takes on a theme of "It's a small world" when Daniel starts dating the doctors daughter (Melissa Archer), has a fling with a woman (Ewa Da Cruz) who turns out to be her friend, his parents (Wayne Knight) divorce attorney, and a lover of a man (James McCaffrey) in his support group.

Christopher Lloyd plays a caricature role as a patient pretending to be a doctor. I couldn't help but not laugh and cringe at the bad writing.

Parental Guide: F-bombs. Sexual situations/talk. brief male rear nudity (Tom Pelphrey) Cleavage, bra/panties.
  • Dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. The acting is stilted, the screenplay seems to have been put together randomly with no continuity, the directing done by someone who has no concept for how to string together a plot.

The characters are undeveloped, their motivations are unclear and seem to change from scene to scene and their actions are either under- or over-stated.

It almost seems as though there were originally two different story lines and something went wrong in the cutting-room; both films seem to have been mixed together resulting in a movie that you'd have to be as nuts as we're supposed to believe the lead character is supposed to be in order to make any sense of it.

Excuse me for living? Perhaps, but this film shouldn't be excused for existing.
  • A complete waste of time. No likable characters. The film is boring, unfocused and a total mess. Film is filled with attractive women, as if that would compensate for a terrible plot. The film cannot decide what this should be - a drama, a comedy? It has no funny moments, no drama, not much of a plot and surely not a developed plot. I saw this on VOD and I believe some films are dumped there to see if they could generate any buzz and/or get people to spend money in the comfort of their home before the bad buzz gets out about a film.

There are some decent actors in the film, but their roles are small and has no real effect on the quality of the film. You wonder how these films get made, do they realize it's a bomb or think it's good. If they know it's a bomb, they probably just want to recoup their investment and move on. Which is what we should do - move on BEFORE seeing this mess!

    Warning: Spoilers
This is probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The totally unbelievable plot is premised on one coincidence after another.

The druggie lead character's father is getting a divorce and his mistress happens to work at the institution to which the lead character is remanded. Said institution happens to be within walking distance of the mansion of his best friend/supplier. The lead character's mother is represented by a woman divorce attorney who frequents parties at the friend's mansion. Her best friend is the daughter of the doctor who runs the institution but she only attends the parties at the mansion when necessary for the plot. The doctor has the lead character participate in a discussion group of older men, one of whom is the friend of the late father of the female divorce attorney an academic who is hopelessly smitten by her. She quickly develops a school-girlish crush on him, despite acting like a merciless harpy when other men are concerned. And so on...

Some of the acting, particularly that of the divorce attorney and the love stricken professor, is particularly bad. We at first thought they were trying to scam each o other before realizing. no, they just can't act, at least with this script and direction.

Some of the scenes are puzzling, at best. I at first thought that the funeral was a poorly done fantasy sequence, before realizing, no, it was just poorly done.

    Avoid at all costs.

Amusing, even sends a cute message, as the title induces, but sins a lot in the female characters, becoming despicable and misogynistic, a pity, because it had potential, degrading and superfluous ... In which women live in function of some male scrotum...

I thought the movie was cute, funny and very entertaining.I enjoyed it. "Laura" played by Melissa Archer, was sexy, adorable and surprising! The movie seemed to come to life when she entered the scene and the interplay with her and Dan, Tom Pelphrey's character who was a hoot, was very well done! I liked Dan and I liked Laura and the two together, there just should have been more of it. I think that's my biggest complaint, I wish there was more focus on the lead character falling for the psychiatrist's daughter (who I was left wanting to know more about, who she really was),since they clicked so well chemistry wise and his time at the senior men's club. Also there seemed to be two separate stories going on, that of the attorney and the older professor and what the movie was actually about. I found that distracting and unnecessary. Saying all that, it was a perfect date night or girl's night out film. It's got a little something for everyone. Your boyfriend will thank you for dragging him along and the gals get a treat too.

I really loved this movie because it had a bit of everything, and it had all the things I like in movies overall. I'm a big fan of romantic comedies, and Ric Klass did a great job with the writing and the production of this film. It was great seeing a lot of my favorite veterans return to the screen (like Chris Lloyd, Jerry Stiller, Robert Vaughan, Wayne Knight, etc), as well as introducing so many of the younger stars. Melissa Archer is a very good young talent and would love to see her in more films, as well as Tom Pelphrey and David Gregory! I could see Tom being another Timothy Hutton in dramatic comedies in the future. Melissa Archer is a versatile and energetic actress who has a wealth of possibilities.

Excellent film. Really enjoyed the plot. Very funny and great acting. Great cast. Tom Pelphrey and Christopher Lloyd were exceptional. Especially Tom. He is a very talented young man and hope to see him in many more movies to come. He is one of my favorites. I will be honest, he is the reason I watched the film and so happy that I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it. So much that I will be watching it again. Tom is such a good actor and can play many different roles. I first noticed him when he played Jonathan Randall in the Guiding Light. I knew then he was going to make it big in the movies someday. Such a great talent. Not many like him come around very often. I highly recommend watching this film.

EMFL is definitely a movie I would watch over and over and I did. It wasn't playing in a theater near me so I viewed it on demand, four times! I thought at first I wouldn't like this so much, that it would be your typical romcom but this one has fast become a favorite of mine. The movie was funny and at times insightful, with such a stellar cast and as far as it being a chick flick? I saw this with two of my guy friends and it's now a favorite of their's too,for reasons that become obvious when you see the film. The movie has the likes of Robert Vaughn and Chris Lloyd who were so good in their roles and don't talk about the newcomers Tom Pelphrey and Melissa Archer (beautiful girl), who I had seen on soaps before. They had no trouble heating up the screen and capturing your attention. They were AWESOME! I would certainly, with not even a second thought, watch another film that featured these two, together or separate.
  • Excuse Me For Living is one of the best films I've seen this year alone, This film has a very awesome cast and crew and Ric Klass did an amazing job with this film. This film will make you laugh and smile. I know it made me smile and laugh a lot. Melissa Archer who played the lead actress in the film did an AMAZING Profound JOB as her character and the whole cast gave 110% I think. I would recommend everyone see this film and read the book, the book is great too. I haven't finished it yet but soon. I give this film a 10/10 Star rating. I love the Film, I love everyone that is in the cast and I'm a HUGE Melissa Archer fan!! I have come to know Ric Klass by helping promote the film via my fb fan page dedicated to Melissa Archer and everything.. It a great film. I will say I was shocked at one part of this film but I won't saw which because I don't want to give away any surprises.. Just go see it!!
