  • I can only assume they're mostly written by teenagers and/or Californians who have no clue to what real life is really like. I find this show to be a nice form of light entertainment.

Chill-out cyberpunks and enjoy life! Spreading disdain and criticizing EVERYTHING that you yourself cannot do doesn't make you interesting. It just makes you sad. Thanks for the laughs, Betty!!!

And for the comments about the the people being "punked" never finding-out that they've been "had", I'm PRETTY sure they have to sign a release for them to be aired.

Yep... nothing "common" about common- sense anymore!!
  • In my opinion, after watching Episode 1 of "Off Their Rockers," this show is the most original and different comedy show I've seen in a long time. I laughed all the way through it. Although it's advertised to be a show about Seniors putting one over on young people, I think it will appeal to the younger viewers as well, as the ones being "fooled" seemed to get a good laugh too. It takes advantage of the limitations of older people by exaggerating them and making them funny. Some of the skits were not only a surprise to the youngsters who were being fooled, but to me, as well. I am looking forward to watching this show with my friends every week.
  • As a 24 year old guy with an awesome sense of humour, well Betty White has always appealed to me, at least since seeing her wicked sense of humour in various marketing campaigns as well as other bits and pieces. I was half expecting the show to be about old people "off their rockers" and to my delight it's about old people pranking the more youthful, though it appears no one is too old to be pranked. The best part, at least so far, it doesn't appear the people being pranked are actually actors in on the joke.

I've watched the first episode and haven't laughed as hard or as much at a show since seeing the first episode of Good Vibes quite a few months back. While it may not be everyones cup of tea, well those with a true funnybone, those equipped with having viewed many hours of comedy TV shows and movies, from all genres, under their belts, well to say the least, you should get quite a laugh, at least from the first episode of Betty White's Off Their Rockers.

Having only watched the first episode so far, I can't accurately say whether it'll continue being as funny, but man, to those wanting something 'fresh' (even if some jokes are borrowed) then give this a go. If you don't laugh at least once during the first episode, then perhaps it's time to think about checking out of Hotel Earth... ;)

My idea of comedy? Well here's some other funny TV shows I enjoy/ed; Good Vibes, South Park, Crank Yankers, Bored To Death, Chuck, Fonejacker, That '70s Show, Wilfred, Robot Chicken, Workaholics, IT Crowd, Family Guy, Futurama, Boston Legal, Beavis and Butthead (new season) -- there's a ton more but that's a pretty diverse list of shows that have all, at one point or another, had me (quite literally) in tears laughing.

So take from this what you will, just don't go by the bogus reviews trolls/haters will be sure to leave.
  • After only watching the first couple of episodes, i find myself wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes as i climb up off the floor from laughing so hard.

Not all the skits are hilarious--White has enough foresight to back-load the majority of the funnier skits towards the end of the show, while the earlier ones that don't quite get there are bracketed by light enough bits that its hard to notice.

The team she's working with here is outstanding. I have no doubt that Lorne Michaels is kicking himself for not grabbing these talented performers for SNL years ago.

After watching the first episode, i found myself wanting to see some bits taking advantage of the youthful misconception that age equals frailty (in areas other than sex--which misconception White and her team successfully challenge.)

There are a number of world class athletes out there that happen to be seniors. I'd love to see White take advantage of their skills and talents to really challenge the younger generation's world view. The skateboard skit in the second episode does this somewhat, but i'd like to see this go a lot further.

These first couple of episodes are real comedy gold. The biggest question it poses to me is: Can she keep it up?

I love Betty White as she is one of my favorites. As love her since the Golden Girls and the Mama's Family.

She has since received such a huge revival in her career back in 2010 and the Snickers commercial. As she hosted SNL as she gave it the highest ratings of ever! At 91, she proves she is not slowing down. As testament to her health and wits. As the senior citizens in the show hence the title, prove that they too can have a snarky sense of humor.

And try to fool young people as one of them did in the pilot. By shedding his clothes off and having the youngsters open up their mouths.

Betty White proves she ain't slowing down. And good for her!
  • The main point the show tries to reinforce -- the elderly are sexual. One or two jokes or skits making that point would be enough, but that theme is emphasized over and over. The copious times the actors make passes at much younger people gets old.

Also, too many of the candid-camera moments seem designed to cause discomfort in 20-somethings. Young people, trying to be helpful and kind, are harassed at times, in ways that I really don't find funny. I realize that later they are informed it is a TV show. Some of the hidden-camera vignettes are funny and innocuous, but I would prefer the producers used fewer that rely on intentional humiliation.
  • We have enjoyed Betty White's talents on the screen for decades and we were really looking forward to another hit series with Betty as the host. Unfortunately we found this show to be in poor taste and completely lacking in humor.

On the up side Betty was interviewed on a recent show prior to the first episode. She was asked if it was difficult doing two shows at the same time. Betty responded by saying that she is having difficulty with her memory. Let's hope for her sake that her poor memory will do its job and Betty wont have to remember this awful and soon to be short lived series.
  • It was only now that I got to watch this show of Betty White, and I was even looking forward to it. At first, I thought it was funny. But then I realized that it is highly offensive. They made the elderly people look crazy and stupid, and objects of ridicule. They even made fun of nuns, which I think is highly irregular. And that series about not good looking people should not have babies, did you see the look on that young girl's face. That wasn't funny at all, and it must have been so hurtful to that young woman. NOBODY wants to hear such words. And who was talking? An elderly woman. What about those parts wherein old people were soliciting sex, what can be more gross than that!

I am in my senior years and I felt so disrespected by this show. I don't understand why Betty White agreed to appear in such a show. It is offensive, disrespectful, cheap. They could have made a better show for her. This is not something to be proud about. I am so disappointed!
  • I have watched every episode of this show and have yet to see any response to any of the pranks except for stunned silence or whispered confusion. The concept is great and the premises are fine, but the reactions are always the same : polite confusion. Nobody ever gets angry. Or confrontational. Or...well... funny in any way, really. Plus, the dumb wraparound 'bits' with Betty are by far the weakest link. They're boring, never funny, Betty's delivery is always the same and the gag is always the same : 'the horny old lady making some lame sexual innuendo'. If you ever wondered how much 'Jackass' will suck when Johnny Knoxville and company get old... wonder no more.
  • I LOVE the idea of giving Betty White her own show, but NOT THIS ONE. It wasn't really funny. The "punkee" never finds out that they were "punked", so they just think some crazy old person is bugging them. Not funny. Even they don't seem to think it's funny. They usually seem mildly bothered, but not completely shocked or anything. I won't be watching this again. Now I have to delete it from my DVR so it won't record again! *sigh* The parts where Betty makes a joke or an irreverent remark are the only parts worth watching. The Snickers commercial was more entertaining!! LOVE Betty.... ditch the REST of this mess.
  • Off their rockers is a terrible show and not funny whatsoever! I love Betty and think that she is wonderful and was hoping that the show would be a huge hit but it is pathetic and sad! I can't believe anyone found it funny! The producers need to re think the concept and make it more realistic and more thought out! The idea is good but the execution is terrible and the ideas are ridiculous! They don't show the reactions from bystanders enough! I really think that the producers need to come up with better ideas to incorporate the elderly participants! This show could be hilarious if the content was thought out more and the scenarios were aimed more at mature people behaving unnaturally active and young and less sexually depraved! I think the sexual content tries too hard and degrades the actors and is not funny!

Absolutely disgusting - so perverted and sooo sexual. Oh, so seniors CAN have one-night stands and joke about them and be obsessed with sex? OK. Gee, so this is the way I should be looking at seniors - as perverted, sexually obsessed OLD people? THAT'S why they made the show? To change our view of how we think of seniors. Hmmmm....

SADLY, VERY SADLY, THIS SHOW IS ON WHEN CHILDREN ARE AWAKE - 7 PM in my area! The language used on this show include, but is not limited to: "prick," "horny," "skank,""son of a bitch," "hell," and bleeped f- and s-words. Wow! Cannot believe this.

Why are some of you Betty White fans who LOVED her shows until this one actually surprised? She makes sexual references often in her comments in past shows over recent years, and I'm beginning to think she really is as sexually active as she jokes that she is - which, in the past several years, she insinuates is frequent. I'm just surprised that NBC has slotted such garbage for the family hour! MISS this one!

When the show came on after another show I had chosen to watch, I left the TV on. I had never heard of it before, but I chose to watch because Betty White's comedic genius is usually spot on and hilarious.

Wow. With a couple of exceptions, the show wasn't even funny. The concept for the show is fun - a "candid camera" style prank show featuring elderly actors as the pranksters, but sheesh - the show was so raunchy and twisted that I was disgusted by 90% of the content. The jokes actually feed on stereotypes and the shock value of persons you expect to be mature gleefully behaving inappropriately instead.

    I'll never watch again.
  • People like Betty White, I'm not one of them, but I do like a good prank and didn't want to immediately write this show off. I watched one episode and thought it was a dud, but hey that happens to even the best of shows. So I watched another and... oof. I figured out the formula of the show very quickly and it's pretty much this; "What?! Old people aren't supposed to do that, HAHAHAHA! Oh, wow, that old lady is hitting on that young dude, CA-RAZYYYYY!!!" I don't know who this is meant to appeal to other than maybe old people or middle-aged folks with a simple sense of humor. I assume the people that LOVE this show either love it solely because Betty White is in it or they've never heard of YouTube which has a plethora of actually funny pranks and people that actually deserve their own show instead of an elderly entertainer being grandfathered into yet another program just because their name sells.
  • I was really excited when I read "senior citizens prank youngsters" but when I started watching it was so bad I couldn't believe my eyes Every joke is unfunny and trying too hard. To top it all every single episode is filled with them making sexual jokes about how bad they wanna have sex with youngsters.

I have no clue why this show is still on air and why they haven't canceled it..it's just taking extra space. It had so much potential but they ruined it with 1930's jokes. No one wants to hear about how a 80 yrs old woman have sex slave who is 20 yrs old..it's disgusting.

All prank shows I've seen in past are funny except this one. I wish they spent more time in writing quality pranks and didn't fill it with sexual jokes. Another thing I hate about this show is that they try to make youngsters look like bad guy but then you watch their prank and it's so annoying. I hope this gets canceled. I wasted 3 hrs watching it and didn't even smile once...that's how bad it is.
  • Whatever regard I once held for Betty White has evaporated with this new "reality show".

I once thought the obnoxious, oversexed Sue Ann Nivens character White played on the MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW was an act far from the real woman. I also thought that the sweet, charming Rose character on GOLDEN GIRLS was closer to the real Betty White. I was wrong.

The Betty White that has emerged in recent years on HOT IN CLEVELAND and SNL and now this mess is anything but sweet.

Betty White's crude humor is very distasteful and unappealing - made even more repugnant coming from a 90 year old woman. There have been other actresses that have grown old and popular and showed class to the end - White is not one of them.
