This live recording of Madonna's legendary Blond Ambition World Tour is not as good as the sums of its parts. The show itself is a game-changing spectacle: The sets are elaborate, the choreography is intricate and fluid, and the song selection is extraordinary. In addition, Madonna herself delivers a fierce performance and she's well-matched by a tremendously talented group of dancers and backup singers. But there's a serious problem with the inconsistent audio of the show itself, and Madonna herself is clearly frustrated with it, with a number of off-putting outbursts maring the otherwise exuberant vibe. It makes watching this broadcast a little uncomfortable sometimes, but there's so much energy and enthusiasm along the way, and the show itself is such a vibrant, thunderous event, that it's still worth a shot.
