Char Shanivaar – Music by Amaal Malik, Vocals by Vishal Dadlani and Amaal Malik, Lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed, Rap by Baadshah
The album opens up with the peppy number Char Shanivaar. Possibly one of the youngest Music Directors, Amaal Malik is back with yet another foot tapping number after his previous hit ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai Yaaron’ from Roy. Char Shanivaar sets the fun mood with its quirky lyric and party-like feel. The song has vocals by Vishal Dadlani,...

Karan Johar is one of the few directors who is full of wit. He can mock himself and make us laugh our hearts out at any event. On his birthday today, we bring you some incidences when he tickled our funny bones with double meaning jokes/dialogues. Take a look...
The most memorable ones were from Bombay Velvet trailer launch
Karan Johar at the movie second trailer launch replied to directing himself with, "Why would I cast myself and be my own liability? If anyone wants to put money on me, they can do it and cast me. I'll act. I am open to offers. Otherwise also I am open."
Bombay Velvet has a scene where Ranbir Kapoor had to press Karan Johar's face towards the car window.
Remembering the scene, Ranbir Kapoor revealed that Karan Johar told him, "Tu mujhe daba. So from the time I started pressing him,...

Hindi films are known for their romance and it is one of the reasons so many people fall in love with the heroes, the heroines and the films! We asked our writers to tell us what moments in Bollywood define love or romance to them, be it a song, a line, a look, or anything that makes you sigh thinking that is Love! So for Valentine’s Day we present what we think is Romance Bollyishstyle!
The One with the Tune and the Recording
We could not pick just one scene from the great Dil Toh Pagal Hai starring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Karishma Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. However, the two that stand out for our writers are:
That moment when Madhuri and Shah Rukh are in adjoining changing rooms in a clothing store, and Madhuri hears him whistle a tune. She later hears it again and knows it was meant to be!

For the music of the films of 2014, the composers brought in classic voices, new vocal sounds and vibes and even an actress or two to bring their songs to life. Usually we limit our list to the 5 Best Female Singers but this year we had to expand to 10 in order to highlight their fabulous performances.
10. Shraddha Kapoor
For the first time an actress makes it to our Best Female Singers countdown. Shraddha not only shined in two completely different roles in Ek Villain and Haider, the young actress also showed off her lovely voice with two completely different tunes. With ‘Galliyan’ from Ek Villain, she impressed with her melodious tones. In ‘Do Jahaan’ from Haider she sang a Kashmiri folk song, about which director and composer Vishal Bhardwaj said, “After listening to the song they (Kashmiris) would want to keep you with themselves.” Perhaps one day in the future she...

One music director who has had a wonderful year is none other than the multi-talented Himesh Reshammiya.
Himesh began the year by singing the song ‘Photocopy’ for the film Jai Ho for music directors Sajid-Wajid. This was the first time that Himesh had sung a song outside of his own compositions, that too in Gujarati and not in Hindi. The song had singer Palak Muchhal accompany Himesh on the vocals and went on to become very popular from the album!
It was then the moment that all loyal fans had been waiting for, to welcome Himesh the actor once again! Himesh had prepared himself for the role of Ravi Kumar in the 1960’s style thriller, The Xpose. Himesh stunned everyone with his super sleek new look, as he shed a massive 20kgs for the role of a suspended cop turned superstar. The film garnered a super hit response at the...

The year in song in 2013 certainly was a treat for Hindi music fans. With songs ranging to straight-up classical influences, to songs with a Southern tinge plus the new grooves that hit high notes of hard rock, dub step, hip-hop, and punk-rock there was something for everyone. 2013 had some wonderful musical moments and they were not all on the big screen. This year we thought we would change it up a bit and not only highlight the best songs of the movies, we also wanted to shine the light on some of the brilliant performances that took place on MTV’s Coke Studio and MTV Unplugged. Sequel fever is still raging on, this time Akshay Kumar steps into Shoaib’s shoes for Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobara, with Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha joining Milan Thuria’s gangster drama. Pritam is back with this new album and he has already captured the airwaves with the melodious ‘Yeh Tune Kya Kiya’ and the remake of ‘Tayyab Ali’ from Amar Akbar Anthony which has not produced too much vitriol just yet. The album is quite good and sticks to the elements that made the previous album a raging success: kitsch and qawallis!
The standout of the album is Yeh Tune Kya Kiya , which would seem to conjure up more lamenting and accusatory lyrics, but this one is a dreamy qawalli that tweaks this expression around. Listeners may bristle at Javed Bashir blunt and raw vocals, but it’s that quality that makes Rajat Arora’s lyrics...
