An airline pilot saves almost all his passengers on his malfunctioning airliner which eventually crashed, but an investigation into the accident reveals something troubling.
Writer John Gatins was inspired by a pilot who happened to be a fellow passenger on a flight. The pilot went on about his family life and issues, which gave Gatins pause and made him realize that whenever he is on a plane, he has to entrust himself to a stranger, who is only human, after all.
Do you think you would be alive today if I was not flying that plane?
Ken Evans: No. We'd all be dead. But can you actually sit there and tell me that you were in top physical condition to fly that day?
Captain Whittaker and Hugh Lang visit the crash site. Lang describes the left wing hitting the ground, subsequent discussion between the two men implies that left wing hit the rear fuselage and drove the left engine nacelle into the fuselage. It's implied that this is what killed the four passengers. However, the view of the crashed plane clearly shows the left engine nacelle intact and attached to the outside of the fuselage.
