| Suspenseful thriller in the Mediterranean - need more like this
An American couple (Dunst and Mortensen) visiting Athens meet a tour guide from New Jersey (Isaac) who shows them around. But things aren't quite what they seem. There are some twists to keep you guessing whose side you should be on but not too many so it isn't irritating. The European settings in Athens, Crete and Istanbul aren't always the most picture perfect postcard parts but it's authentic and it feels very on location.

Kirsten Dunst surprisingly looks alright with Viggo Mortensen. Thought the age difference would be too much but it's not. They look quite suitable in their 60s get ups. Oscar Isaac who is getting many big roles these days is able to play quite a variety of backgrounds and characters. He gives a good and enigmatic performance. There is an unusual chemistry of like and distrust between the characters that works and keeps the suspense throughout. So fans of Ripley won't be disappointed.

Although the novel and setting are 1960s this thriller isn't dated. The story has a more modern feeling than Hitchcock movies but is enjoyable in the same way. Look forward to more movies like this.
