When Dr. Jane Foster gets cursed with a powerful entity known as the Aether, Thor is heralded of the cosmic event known as the Convergence and the genocidal Dark Elves.
(At around one hour and five minutes) Thor accidentally destroys a statue of his grandfather Bor, and Loki wisecracks that he killed him. In the Marvel comics, Thor ended up killing his grandfather, as part of a deception by Loki.

(at around 21 mins) When Jane is pulled into the darkness and first sees and approaches the Aether, she is carrying her device in her right hand. When she bends down to look at it, the device is in her left hand.
There's a statement at the end of the credits: "Thor will return." His next appearance in the MCU is in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
