Max’s Conan O’Brien Must Go is a travel show with a twist.
“My mission is that you learn nothing about the country,” O’Brien explained on a spectacular recent installment of the Hot Ones web series, an appearance that I’m confident did more to boost the visibility of Conan O’Brien Must Go than the dozens of marketing dollars Warner Bros. surely put into the series. “My job is that you know less about the country after I’m done than when I started.”
While O’Brien’s performance on Hot Ones — especially after pronouncing that he’d never encountered a spice until his 50s — may have surprised some observers, few of the late night veteran’s devotees will be surprised that his assessment of Conan O’Brien Must Go is disingenuous. Or at least it’s a hair disingenuous. Conan O’Brien Must Go isn’t the sort of travel...

The "Kung Fu Panda" franchise has become a staple of DreamWorks Animation, and it's easy to see why: It's a funny movie series with great action and memorable characters.
A big part of the series' success is due to its stellar voice casting -- heard in both the extended cast of A-listers like Dustin Hoffman and James Hong, as well as in Jack Black's electrifying performance as Po the Panda. Black infuses the character with charisma and, as Po would call it, awesomeness. As our review indicates, "Kung Fu Panda 4" changes things up, becoming more of a buddy cop movie with Po going on an adventure with a new character named Zhen, played by Awkwafina.
/Film was invited to participate in a junket with Black and Awkwafina, where the plan was to ask questions about the making of the film and crafting their performances.

Sega is going back to the top with several hit games and others. The Japanese company is looking to expand its movie and transmedia empire. Hiring a former Disney executive, Justin Scarpone, to work on IPs like Persona and Like a Dragon, which could be adapted to film or other kinds of media like series.
Like a Dragon and Persona could have movies, according to Sega Persona could have a transmedia project in the future according to Sega
After the tremendous success of Sonic the Hedgehog at the box office, Shuji Utsumi, president of Sega, has declared that the company wants to expand the reach of its IPs beyond the videogames. Names like Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Like a Dragon, and many more are being thrown around, and with the recent hire, there’s a possibility they’re thinking of more than just new games.

Charlie Kaufman isn’t one to half-ass things or lend his name to projects that don’t reflect the full volume of his voice as a writer, but I was admittedly skeptical of his screenplay credit on Netflix’s “Orion and the Dark,” an animated kids movie adapted from Emma Yarlett’s picture book of the same name and directed by Sean Charmatz, whose most notable work includes a pair of “Trolls” shorts and a job as “head of story” on “The Angry Birds Movie 2.”
On the one hand, this is the first time since “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” that Kaufman has been credited for writing a film that he didn’t direct himself. On the other hand, it’s hard to put much faith in credits on a streaming platform that doesn’t even let you watch them, and — beloved as Yarlett’s book might be — this...

Harry Potter recruited veteran star Helena Bonham Carter to portray Bellatrix Lestrange in the wizard series. But she admitted that it wasn’t easy at first trying to be intimidating while waving a stick around.
What Helena Bonham Carter felt about waving her ‘Harry Potter’ wand Helena Bonham Carter | Fred Duval/FilmMagic
Bonham Carter took her wand-waving seriously in the Harry Potter franchise. Not only did she practice extensively with the prop, but she went to school for it as well.
“We went to wand school for about three weeks,” Bonham Carter once told Entertainment Weekly. “We took it very very seriously. I actually got a wand blister on the [middle] finger. They kind of had different names for all the different moves, Latin ones. It was sort of based on fencing. You also always have to have an intention behind the spell.”

Sonic The Hedgehog’s big-screen success has left Sega boss Shuji Utsumi thinking about which of its other “major IPs” could be adapted into movies and more.
The Sonic The Hedgehog franchise has had its ups and downs since it appeared over 30 years ago, but more recent years have seen the blue blur back on form again. This year’s Sonic Superstars was a welcome mix of modern graphics and traditional 2D platforming, while the movies – most recently last year’s Sonic The Hedgehog 2 – are doing decent business.
That success has left Sega boss Shuji Utsumi openly talking about what other big names the company has in its back catalogue. Could some of those be dusted off and given the big-screen treatment? In an interview with CNBC, Utsumi noted that it has “other IPs,” adding, “We are thinking of reviving other classical IPs too.”

Imagine: It's a bright, sunny afternoon in 2010 and you're listening to "Airplanes" by B.o.B on your iPod Nano on your way home from school. You're counting down the hours until the next episode of "Pretty Little Liars", and you're wondering who could possibly be "A." Prince William and Kate Middleton just got engaged and you get butterflies every time you see a photo of them looking lovingly at each other. Hey, love is a beautiful thing. When you get home, you log onto Facebook and maybe give your crush a "Poke." After you do your homework, you play a game of Angry Birds and things. are. good.

Once upon a time, Shane Black's "The Nice Guys" might have become a hit. That time, however, was not May 20-22, 2016, when the film opened in a distant fourth place behind that weekend's box office champion, "The Angry Birds Movie." Black was coming off the billion-dollar success of "Iron Man 3" when he decided to write and direct his film, an original buddy crime comedy in the same vein as his cult classic directorial debut, "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang." Even then, he probably realized it was useless resisting the once unstoppable tide of superheroes and franchises, but darn it if he wasn't going to try (much like his film's offbeat heroes do their darnedest to curb the ever-turning wheel of systematic injustice).
Based on a screenplay Black co-wrote with Anthony Bagarozzi, "The Nice Guys" winds the clock back for a sordid comical yarn of crime and corruption in haze-ridden...

As we creep towards summer, Netflix has a hot new list of fresh content, including the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the sophomore season of ‘Human Resources” and the highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.”
Kicking off the start of the month on mega streamer are lots of family-friendly goodies like both “Nanny McPhee” and “Nanny McPhee Returns,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the “Angry Birds Movie.” But the adults won’t be left out of the conversation, as more mature flicks and series like “Jarhead,” “Funny People” and “We’re the Millers” are also hitting the platform this month.
And it wouldn’t be Netflix without its originals. “Take Care of Maya,” “Extraction 2” and the Sarah Snook-led “Run Rabit Run” will land on the site in June. And even if this isn’t enough to get you watching, Netflix will be streaming its Tudum festival on Saturday,...

Fans are saying farewell to Manifest and Never Have I Ever.
For the week of June 5 to June 11, the series dominated Netflix’s English-language series list. Manifest as Season 4, Part 2 took the top spot with 78.15M hours viewed in the week after it debuted on June 2. The enthusiasm surrounding the final episodes also boosted Season 1 back into the Top 10 with 18.18M hours viewed.
Devi Vishwakumar’s senior year was met with near equal excitement, as Never Have I Ever Season 4jumped to No. 2 on the list following its June 8 debut. In the first few days of release, Season 4 racked up 76.21M hours viewed. It would not be surprising to see Never Have I Ever tally another successful week during the next measurement window, when it will have been available for the entire seven-day span.
Those new releases pushed Fubar to No. 3, though the series still drew 42.28M hours viewed after two weeks at No.

Brooklyn, New York – June 05: Peter Dinklage attends the US Premiere of Paramount Pictures’ “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” at Kings Theatre on June 05, 2023, in Brooklyn, New York. (Photo by Jason Mendez/Getty Images for Paramount Pictures) Peter Dinklage has plenty of experience when it comes to film franchises. On the live-action side, he’s done a pair of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, plus an X-Men appearance and an upcoming role in a new Hunger Games film. On the animated side, he’s been part of the Ice Age, The Croods, and Angry Birds series. So it’s no surprise that Dinklage, a four-time Emmy Award winner for Game of Thrones, signed on to play the villain in the new Transformers movie, Rise of the Beast. For Dinklage to star in a Transformers movie was a lot of fun, since he can recall the huge cultural splash the...

Potatoverse will includes short-form animation, Roblox games, podcasts and other output aimed at children and their families to generate positive climate change for a better environment. Winder and Slaight say the initiative aims to build on the imagination and enthusiasm of young audiences.
“By empowering kids to explore their own ideas while fostering a deep connection with nature, Potatoverse will be a forum for kids to contribute meaningfully as catalysts for positive change. We are filling the hope gap for children when it comes to the future. But as it should be for kids, play and fun is at the heart of everything we are doing,” Winder and Slaight said in a joint statement.

The “Angry Birds” universe just became one series bigger. Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Kids+ has picked up “Angry Birds Mystery Island” to series from Eric Rogers (Futurama) and Titmouse.
“We’re excited to work with Amazon to add a new chapter to the Hatchlings’ story in ‘Angry Birds Mystery Island,’” said Rovio’s head of Brand Licensing, Hanna Valkeapää-Nokkala. “I’m sure fans of the Hatchlings will be eager to see them in their own series, with speaking voices for the first time.”
The 24-episode first season will follow three new hatchlings — Mia, Rosie, and Buddy — and a foreign-exchange piglet named Hamylton on their all-expenses-paid island getaway, where they find themselves mistakenly catapulted onto an uncharted island. Left to explore the exotic sights, smells, and unexplained phenomena of their new environment without any adults around, the ragtag bunch quickly learns that, in order to survive and make it back home,...

In her first proper interview since Walker Independence was cancelled (nearly a month ago), series lead Katherine McNamara notes, unsurprisingly, “It’s not the news we wanted to hear.”
McNamara had appeared on multiple podcasts that were released after the cancellation news broke, but they had all been taped prior. But as a guest on The Wayne Ayers Podcast (the full episode drops this Wednesday), she was able to actually post mortem it all, saying that “one of the showrunners and one of the producers called me” with the news, “and obviously it’s not the call we wanted to get.

Netflix gained a new competitor last month (sort of) when HBO Max and Discovery+ combined forces to create the confusingly-named Max. With its list of new releases for June 2023, however, Netflix doesn’t have too much to worry about.
This month is filled with some major Netflix original titles, not the least of which is The Witcher season 3 volume 1 on June 29. Though star Henry Cavill is set to leave the Polish folklore/video game adaptation in season 4, he remains very much entrenched as the titular Witcher in this next go-around. Other big TV hits include Manifest season 4 part 2 (June 2), Big Mouth spinoff Human Resources season 2 (June 9), and animated King Kong series Skull Island (June 22). That’s not even to mention the return of Black Mirror season 6. That still has yet to receive a release date but we have no doubt it will be properly epic once it arrives.

From Disney darling to pop star, Dove Cameron's career has undergone quite the evolution since she began acting in her early teens. The versatile actor's earliest fans grew up alongside her as she played identical twins "Liv and Maddie" for four seasons on the hit Disney Channel show. But Cameron's professional acting career began even earlier, when she memorably guest-starred in two episodes of "Shameless" as Holly Herkimer, a young woman who was interested in Lip Gallagher (Jeremy Allen White).
Cameron's early work in "Shameless" and "Liv and Maddie" showed off the actor's range. Right from the start of her career, it was clear she could pull off comedic and dramatic roles, just as she could pivot between family-friendly fare and more daring projects. In recent years, she's continued to challenge herself as an actor with roles in B.J. Novak's directorial debut, "Vengeance" and Hulu's comedic...

San Francisco, April 15 (Ians) Rovio Entertainment, the creator of the iconic Angry Birds mobile game franchise, may be acquired for $1 billion by Sega, the Japanese video game and entertainment company, the media reported.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Sega is close to buying Rovio and the deal may get closed by early next week.
The original Angry Birds game was a super success in 2009, but the franchise has seemingly fallen off since its 2014 peak.
The original was the first mobile game to reach 1 billion downloads, a record certified by Guinness World Records.
‘The Angry Birds Movie’ was a box-office success and is still the seventh highest grossing video game movie.
Its 2019 sequel, ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’, did not achieve the same level of success though.
Rovio in February this year removed its original Angry Birds game from Google Play Store, and renamed the Apple iOS version to Red’s First Flight.

The stereotype of a gamer being a young, vulgar male loner playing all hours of night and day in their parents’ basement was never terribly accurate. After all, in 2021, 41% of the 189 million video game players were female, and a new study from Fandom disproves further notions. Culled from a sampling of 15,000 from the site’s 350 million monthly visitors, the biggest revelation is that millennials, generally aged 27-42, are the biggest gamer demographic. 52% of this age group identifies video games as their top recreational hobby.
Among other highlights from the study, 80% of those polled claimed that they’d play a game even if they weren’t already a fan of a given franchise, which is the kind of experimental courage of which moviegoers could use more. Meanwhile, over the last five years, engagement has increased across every demographic, platform and genre with 45% of gamers spending more time with their favorite hobby than ever before.

In 2003, Jason Sudeikis, one of the many alumni of the Second City comedy troupe who went on to be involved with "Saturday Night Live," was scouted while performing in Las Vegas. He was brought on to write "SNL" sketches, and joined the cast in 2005. Sudeikis was the show's go-to George W. Bush impersonator, as well as their Mitt Romney and occasional Joe Biden. When people “make it big,” they often celebrate with a big-ticket purchase. Tom Brady bought a luxury watch. Selena Gomez invested in Louis Vuitton apparel. Mae Whitman bought a king-size mattress, and Evangeline Lilly bought a used car. As with many other things, going big in country music can mean a different ballpark altogether. For star Blake Shelton, the first big purchase he made after his first hit single was nothing short of a bulldozer.

A car might not seem like the most obvious venue for a TikTok session, but the app is beaming its videos straight to the driver’s seat. It has teamed up with Mercedes-Benz to integrate the TikTok app into the luxury automaker’s E-Class vehicles.
TikTok revealed the details of the integration through a blog post. Starting “later this year,” E-Class owners will be able to watch TikTok from a “superscreen” positioned on the car’s dashboard. Mercedes-Benz announced the TikTok partnership at its Strategy Update event on February 22.
