  • Lately the French have a kind of patent on good comedies. Daniel Boon is very good in this role, we know him of Welcome to the North or Nothing to Declare and also in this movie he is superb. In Un Plan Parfait we have although some really absurd situations which let you laugh loud out. They are never disturbing and it is one of those movies that you laugh quite a lot, of course if you like the Daniel Boon movies. The 2 actors do the part of the beauty and the beast and the romance is total. I had a real good time with this movie and left the theater with a smile on my face and with a good feeling. The subject is absurd and the situations as well, so don't expect any reality in it. The jokes have a good setup and are not boring at all. Like I already said, the French have a good sense of humor, even when the movies have different targets like this one or the Intouchable. This movie cannot be compared although with the Intouchable due to the subject and contents of the Intouchable, which is quite serious and subtle.
  • A pretty silly romantic comedy, but I could not stop smiling.... and everyone just try to get your eyes off Diane Krüger in this one. This is a cinematic experience how I guess it used to be before Computers took over. Highly recommended.
  • The two main actors make a difference in this delightful romantic comedy, Dany Boon revealing once again his comic verve and the algid Diane Kruger proving an unsuspected comic side, and supporting the role of Boon very effectively. The story may lack some cohesion , being more a sequence of isolated funny moments, rather than a development of a story, although the flashback storytelling tries to give unity to the plot. The characters, especially Isabelle, are little developed and change abruptly without much coherence. However, some truly comic moments are to be appreciated and these are the best moments and the set piece of the picture, which can offer two hours of entertainment, together with some exotic charm of its settings.

Far from it actually. Unless we're talking about the original plan. But even that wasn't perfect. Also telling the story does not actually make sense, seeing the context it is meant for. Unless the surprise at the end was planned. But it wasn't. Also deviating from the original plan as Diane Krugers character does, is kind of a major fail. It's a general problem if you just start to think a little bit, nothing in this movie should work.

But I still had fun watching it. Because I decided that I didn't care, that it didn't make any sense at all. The movie itself tries to cover it up by fast cuts and even faster speeches/dialog. The jokes rate is therefor a hit and miss parade. Still there is charm and there are some nice gems to be found, even though there are far better french comedies out there.

"A Perfect Plan" is a Comedy - Romance movie in which we watch a woman finding a man just to marry and immediately divorce him in order to break a family curse. Her plan does not go as she wanted and her life will change 180 degrees.

Since I did not have high expectations from this movie and I did not expect it to be a masterpiece I was not disappointed. I found it funny and interesting, with some very good interpretations made by its cast. Regarding the interpretations I have to admit that both Diane Kruger who played as Isabelle and Dany Boon who played as Jean-Yves were very good and the combination of those two made this movie even more interesting. Lastly, I believe that "A Perfect Plan" is another comedy movie with which you will have a great time watching it.
  • To get around the family curse that ends all first marriages, Isabelle has a strategy to marry the man she loves: first find an idiot, seduce him, get married and finally divorce. It would be a perfect plan if the target weren't the infernal Jean-Yves Berthier, editor of a tourist guide, which she will follow from Kilimanjaro to Moscow, on a wedding trip for better and, especially, for worse.

Cute, full of improbable and impossible situations, super exaggerated scenes and actions, but with a good comic dose, so absurd and bizarre it becomes fun, surprisingly nice to follow, romantic, a light drama, good scenes of healthy and fun embarrassment, chemistry between the protagonists, many sights, differentiated narrative, like a story to be told, very interesting, fun positive balance...
  • In Paris, Corinne "Coco" (Alice Pol) brings her chief Valérie (Laure Calamy) to spend the Christmas Eve with her family. Valérie is depressed since she is newly divorced and Coco decides to tell the story of her sister Isabelle (Diane Kruger) to Valérie to cheer her up. Isabelle is a dentist that has been living with and working in the same office of her boyfriend Pierre (Robert Plagnol) for ten years. When they decide to get married, Isabelle and Coco are worried about the family curse that every first marriage ends in divorce. Isabelle and Coco arrange a marriage for Isabelle with a student in Copenhagen so that she can immediately divorce to marry Pierre to live happily ever after.

In the flight, Isabelle meets the inconvenient free-spirited tourism columnist Jean-Yves (Dany Boon) that is traveling to Kenya. When the student does not show up, Isabelle decides to travel to Kenya to marry Jean-Yves. She has the chance when they travel to visit a Masai people when they get married. Isabelle returns to Paris and when she goes to schedule her wedding with Pierre, she discovers that Jean-Yves has registered his Masai wedding certificate in Paris. Now Isabelle travels to Moscow expecting to force Jean-Yves to sign the divorce papers. Will she succeed in her intent?

"Un plan parfait" is a charming movie with a silly premise. The idea of the family curse and the attitude of a clever woman like Isabelle traveling to Denmark first and Kenya later to get married and a quick divorce after is ridiculous. But Diane Kruger is a gorgeous, talented and charming actress and her chemistry with Dany Boon makes the movie work despite the premise. My vote is five.

Title (Brazil): "Um Plano Perfeito" ("A Perfect Plan")
  • I watch this movie without any expectation, since the score is not high But... Hey! it's so good!!! The plot that built from stranger without any affect or relation, and start to built them little by little. It's also show culture in many place and show how different of people.. I highly recommend this movie, it really perfect for me.

Reminds me of a French Kiss except Danny Boon is certainly no Kevin Kline and his character makes very little sense at all .He can find new jobs that straddle the whole world with very little notice.

The idea of superstition leading to Diane Krugers character going to plan a half an hour marriage was just about plausible but for her to then change her plans and follow Danny Boon to Africa was kinda insane .Adding to that by making Boons character a moron who has no clue what she is up to the film loses any real chance to be taken too seriously. It is only after he finds out what she has done that the two characters actually become a believable couple The lion scene is woeful and wouldn't have taken much for it to be funny. Having said that it does have some funny scenes especially when she attacks him in the dentist chair and when she gives him hair remover instead of shampoo.

Kruger was good in National Treasure and is funny in this but the script and direction wasn't good enough.

Overall, it makes you laugh about the craziness of every scene...

My biggest problem (considering the numerous plot wholes) with this movie is the way the solved the issue of the 2nd marriage at the end.

IF IT WAS SO SIMPLE THAT SHE COULD MARRY TWICE THE SAME GUY, WHY DIDN'T SHE THINK ABOUT IT WITH PIERRE?!

Watched this on DVD last night, and will be buying it. Why change the title to 'fly me to the moon'? - nothing wrong with the original. This is a ridiculous film, a laugh out loud in places film, and has excellent cast and scenery. I liked the way that the story was built up slowly from the wailing guest at Christmas dinner, and evolved gently. The French absolutely know comedy and while it may get a bit wacky at times, and beyond belief (think Lion), it's fun, and total escapism. I don't like this 10 line rule at all - especially when one reads other reviews that are much shorter. Online space isn't infinite you know? In all, an excellent film which has nothing offensive, caters for those with love of the absurd and is entertaining.
  • Danny Boon and Diane Kruger are good actors caught in a bad situation: Un plan parfait lacks the most important things in a comedy: a good script, good dialogues and a good director. What is left is a mess, there is often no logic in how the characters behave, there are plenty of plot holes and the whole story doesn't make much sense.

I think it's good to remember that French production companies are heavily subsidized (directly and indirectly)by the French government, because of that delivering quality Cinema is not their main purpose, instead they try to maintain a yearly output that will allow them to claim these subsidies.

The end result is that over the last decade there was only a couple of good French films released each year, and all the rest is, if not shockingly bad, mediocre at best.

Un plan parfait is in this category, a movie made for money, not for viewers' pleasure.

Diane Kruger is a beautiful woman, but she has not the tiniest sense for comedy. Her timing is bad and in this production she is not able to create believable emotions. I am sure, that she is a wonderful actress, but for this role she just does not fit. I know, that this is a romantic comedy and that I can not expect a great story, but this one COULD be a good story but failed to deliver. They could have taken more time to get rid of the plot holes and make the story more believable. The acting was OK, Dany Boon is as likable as always. Alice Pol should have played the leading role, because of her comedy talent. Her screen moments were the best minutes of the film. The transformation from the focused dentist to the fun loving and vodka drinking adventurer was just not believable. And that was my main problem with this movie. I can accept flying elephants, speaking unicorns and extra terrestrials that want to phone home when the script and the acting work together. At least I had a night out with my wife.
  • Dany Boon is a genius.

This is a great romantic comedy, the framing device is brilliant and surprising, the narration spotless, the acting first-rate, the comedy: funny!

The success is that while drawing from the finest of comedies in cinema history : Capra (It Happened One Night) Lubitsch (Ninotchka) Sturges (The Lady Eve) Ephron (When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle) this brings new breath to a well-worn genre.

An example off the top of my head is the way in which Diane Kruger struggles to seduce Boon and the dose of pragmatic realism she brings to this difficult task, which makes her all the more sympathetic and funny. She is miles away from Claudette Colbert in The Palm Beach Story, who so easily puts her adventuress plans into action, almost purring with pleasure.

Yes, this film is French but you can still enjoy it even if sound comes out of the actors mouths when they speak and it isn't English but French, I promise you it is a million miles from stereotypical French cinema, this deserves an international audience! (got that off my chest)

This is entertainment, get it while it's hot! (no there isn't any explicit sex in it and no existentialism either, a truly different French film)
  • Wasting my lifetime watching this stupid movie. It insults my intelligence, and its not even funny. Please skip it, and don't waste you time.

I saw the movie a many times because i really like it. The Argument is very convenient, funny and reflexive. All the Argument is nice and the duration of the movie is excellent not much not least. The actor are excellent (pierre and the girl) very funny and emotional actors especially in the final honestly i dropped a tear. The music is very good and sound greats. It is an intelligent and thoughtful comedy about love is not the typical cheap humor. I think is a really nice movie and very interesting to see and the stage are beautiful , "you can travel to Moscow, Africa and a lot of nice place".

    Nice actor , nice Movie.

    I recommend

A truly horrible film with no heart and no laughs. There are not enough English of French words to adequately describe how terrible this film is. Give it a very fast French exit!
  • I loved the magic that the actors brought to their roles, the theme music, the intelligence of the script, in short, everything about it! The theme – that of the 'inaccessible' stunningly beautiful, drop-dead gorgeous lady who simply has to glance at a guy to make him fall in love with her - now that's an experience that every male has had. Many of us simply steer clear of such females as they break our hearts as easily as some will pull the wings off birds, as they flit from male to male, savouring and enjoying the enormous power that they have.

I loved that the script-writer actually got inside the head of the beauty and we experienced some of her angst as she tried to find the man who will love her for the rest of his life – and whom she can similarly love. Women like these (of all cultures) are often rather remote and aloof for most males.

But in this movie, she came alive! It is, of course, highly recommended.
  • So very delightful and I want to share with so many mono-langue American friends... double your box office. Such really good films being made in France now ..:
  • In India the movie is available with TITLE changed AS FLY ME TO THE MOON!! It is stigma in the family of Girl that first marriage is not successful ! She is in good relationships with a Dentist. To work out the funny solutions it is planned that She will go to Paris and a person is fixed for a few hours marriage as its legally will serve both the purpose. On flight she comes across a Russian who is very calculative, crazy, believes in traditions. On first encounter she is fad of him totally. Her man does not arrive at the fixed Airport. So suddenly it struck to her that why not take that similar chance with this Russian Guy ! The lucky journey to Nairobi is rolling now. miss K and the Russian acted roles are very funny, hilarious. Plot has unnecessary lengthy scenes of their family dinner talks but they are also full of one liners and smart wits. The couple travels Nairobi, Russia and some real affair to remember kind of seeds are silently beginning to show. The marriage is legally fabricated. Then there are twists and turns and re thinking of complete plan in reverse and forward both directions as twists though forced kind of but humorous provoking enough laughter's. When the Russian visits her Consulting Dentist Room that is extremely hilarious. Diana Krugner Alice Pol have done superlative acting in the film. Superb screen play. Their Nairobi visit with lions live extra ordinarily filmed for Comedy. It has true love identifying , African marriage customs use, Plans that flops, Agony of this greedy Russian, Some Russian few liners will make you LOL. Do not miss. I strongly recommend to see. It is in many languages dubbed too.
  • a million i love yous for this creation, i had an entire 5 star theater all to myself, between 6pm and 8pm, seats as wide as first class airplane seats, wow, what an experience, atypical French, but totally my family resembles the humor................Thank you for such intimate secrets, much appreciated, rocked my world - i want that lion too, aaaah breath taking scenes! 10 more lines, I'm not used to providing such feedback. However, I would love to read a book version and investigate every aspect of these actors, directors, scenarists, screen writers, the whole crew that is involved, the locations, the process, I would love to watch the making of and interviews with the cast, that is always a gem to watch. I was thrilled to keep up with the French with Croatian subtitles, somehow I could read fast enough to focus on listening and learn, I wish you many accolades, awards, recognition, but discretely of course, n'est pas?

In this great movie he brings an answer, with a lot of real life touches, like a lot of humor, showing you the interest of love. Money moves everyone but it also moves because of love and interest.
  • Watch it to cheer up. I've watched it there times!
