  • So Agent Coulson and Agent Of Shields Agent Sitwell are in a diner discussing General Ross, we have a 2 minute chat followed by some stock footage featuring Ross & Stark and the credits role.

This is a Marvel One-Shot? It serves no purpose, where is the entertainment value in this? These shorts are supposed to be tiny stories, there is no story here whatsoever.

The casts performances save it to an extent but what the hell was that meant to be?

And furthermore how did this cost half a million dollars to make? It's less than 3 minutes long and is two people chatting + already paid for stock footage. Beyond belief, I can only assume their catering was the stuff of legends.

One for Marvel obsessives and nobody else.

    The Good:

    Strong performances as always

    The Bad:

What was that even meant to be?

Things I Learnt From This Movie:

They wanted arrogant and abrasive yet they didn't call me? Weird.

    These One Shots are really fan bait. Often understated, single concept and great character pieces, these are delightful. I give this short film a 7 (delightful) out of 10. {Marvel Segue}

    eh.
I was a bit bored watching this, not going to lie. Its just a conversation that doesn't really tell you anything.
  • Agents Coulson and Sitwell meet in a diner to figure out a Level 6 clearance issue.

So this almost definitely started out as course correction. They didn't know exactly how to tie the Cinematic Universe together yet, so when they were doing the post credit scene for The Incredible Hulk, they tried to set up a very straightforward way for the Hulk to end up on the team, and later decided to handle that within the first Avengers movie instead. Well, that leaves this to tie up the loose end. And considering that, it actually is a lot better than you might think. It's essentially mostly people talking, but even this early on the mcu were excellent at dialogue and character interactions. This is 3 and a half minutes long, or three if you don't count the end credits.

This is currently available on the Disney plus streaming service. I recommend it to any fan of the franchise. 7/10.
  • While this one shot was sort of a quick connection between movies, it doesn't really do much or add to the overall story in any way. It was more to just give a quick reasoning as to why Stark went to Ross in the first place.

I did like the conversation between Coulson and Sitwell. I have always liked Coulson as the straight shooting agent but this flick shows that he has a personality and some humor with him. Sitwell is OK though, as we haven't seen much of him anyway. I did find it interesting that the government wanted to send Blonsky over Banner though. Blonsky is a soldier and Banner was a fugitive so it does sort of make sense that they pick the Abomination over the Hulk, but as Shield knows the real story,it kind of adds as to how exactly the Hulk was actually recruited for the Avengers.

+ Coulson and Sitwell + Quick explanation for Hulk, Avengers and Stark - Didn't add anything for overall story - Not as good as other one shots - Could have possibly done more

    Final Score 6.8/10

    Warning: Spoilers
The fifth entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the first of the One-Shots. While the dialogue is of the same quality one expects from Marvel, half of this is just archive footage from their second entry, The Incredible Hulk. The performances are also of the same expected quality from Marvel. It does explain a little retcon/plothole created by Iron Man 2, which I applaud Marvel for actually recognizing they overlooked something, unlike other movie studios, but it ultimately comes down to the fact that so much of it is archive footage, it's kinda hard to rate. This short film quite literally only exists to resolve a detail that was overlooked in Iron Man 2.

An interesting Marvel mini! It was actually pleasant!

Yea, I still love Coulson. Nice little One-Shot that's purely Fan Service. Nice to watch but forgettable. Coulson makes it better so I think a 7/10 is alright.

About: A hydra agent and a Shield agent pandering about talking to the consultant

Story: No story, just, wise cracking. It's smooth.

    Production: Basic and simple:

    Main Intelligence: 5

    High Light: none

Should you watch?: Since its the first marvel one shot, you might as well give it a go. Overall, it's a fun little mini short. Its nothing over exciting but it does stimulate you a bit.

"The Consultant" is another one of these Marvel One Shot films and I have to say it's possibly the weakest of them. It's also one of the shortest. The entire thing runs for 4 minutes only and part of it is even archived footage including Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark and William Hurt. Anyway, the two guys who are actually acting in here are people who reprise their role from some of Marvel's full feature movies. They play minor characters in there. And we find out there's more than clearance level 6 and there's a solid Hulk reference too. Still, all in all, this short film added almost nothing in my opinion to the Marvel Universe and there was no point really in it being made as I felt it did not elaborate on the story in a way we needed. All in all, not recommended.

    (see original at http://cobyscomics.blogspot.com/2014/02/thor.html)

In the first of what is now a super-fun tradition, Marvel released a short film called a "One Shot" with the DVD of Thor. After seeing way too much Agent Coulson in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV, it was nice to go back and watch this One Shot, where he is still the fast-talking, mysterious secret agent type with all the answers. I'm glad I watched this so soon after the Incredible Hulk, otherwise everything Coulson and Sitwell talked about would've gone way over my head. It nicely tied up any loose ends from the Incredible Hulk, mentioning that Blonsky/Abomination is still locked away and S.H.I.E.L.D. wants to keep him that way, so they send Tony Stark to spoil his release by talking with "Thunderbolt" Ross. This also explains just what the heck Tony was doing in the post-credits scene of the Incredible Hulk.

This Marvel One-Shot features almost nothing other than banter wrapped around a post-credits scene, and it makes me wonder why it wasn't just shot as a post-credits scene itself since it's so short. The aforementioned banter, constrained by its low budget, gives some context to the post-credits scene and pokes fun at Tony Stark's arrogance. For what it is, this (very) short film is an effective way to add some filler to the MCU in the time it's given. It just doesn't amount to much.
  • Warning: Spoilers
We get to see why hulk is on the team but really not much more really. Feels like it should have been after the credits of Thor. It was okay but nothing really much more. Just bait for die hard fans.
  • *) K Reviews *) ( ( You can see the same thing at the end of "The Incredible Hulk" then why to add this at all? Simply waste of time and energy. If you are re-watching this series then you can skip it as you would have already seen it.
  • Warning: Spoilers
In the early days of the MCU, One-Shots were used, as they are in comics, to expand upon idea happening in the wider universe and fill in some gaps. The Consultant answers a question that I'm not sure anyone was asking; 'Why was Tony Stark sent to negotiate with General Ross?'. Though Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Agent Sitwell (Maximilano Hernández) are both enjoyable in their roles, they aren't given much outside of a fast paced conversation. Almost half of the 4 minute short is used to rewatch the end credits scene from the Incredible Hulk, with nothing different or added. While the Marvel One-Shots are one of the early MCU's most unique and charming aspect, The Consultant gets stuck rehashing and doesn't offer enough fresh content.
  • Not really necessary. It did connect the two movies together (Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk) and explained why Stark was chosen to go to the general. Which was nice to have that connection. But it didn't add to anything and the information wasn't really needed. It was extra short as well which didn't help. The music took away from it, making it feel cheesy and not very serious. It's always nice to see Agent Coulson in action. But I felt they could have added a lot more to this to make it more of a story. Even some filler scenes would have helped. It just felt cheep and out of place. It needed more.
  • "Tony Stark IS The Consultant"

The Consultant (2011) is the first film in the Marvel One-Shots series. Set after the events of Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk, The Consultant explains what happened before the post-credits scene of The Incredible Hulk.
