Totally loved it. So funny, moving and clever. Rebel Wilson's first foray into directing is a winner and I can't wait to see it again. The pace of the film sits just right. Brilliant cast, choreography, music and oh gosh those lyrics - simply wonderful. The young talent all have huge careers in front of them and the established performers also shine and then some. Loved the dancing too. It was very refreshing to see older dancers who, quite frankly, could show many a younger dancer a thing or two. They more than hold their own. The best example of this is the scene situated in Rebel Wilson's salon, where they feature. The icing on the cake is the young actor who has a 'thing' for koala bears. Won't say more than that, as don't want to give anything away. Recommend 100%.

One of the best musicals I've ever seen. So fresh and young, funny and the songs are so catchy. The cast though mostly unknown is very talented. All singing and dancing bits are just wow. All Australian cast and Australian director of course - Rebel Wilson. Coming out of age musical comedy with talented Meg Washington who wrote most of the songs. There is simply not anything there not to like. I you like comedy or musicals or both, this movie is for you. The Deb got standing ovation at its premier at TIFF and I understand why. Also the comedy in the movie is very strong and makes you laugh a lot.

I saw this in Toronto at the Princess of Wales and I LOVED IT so so much. I'm a huge Rebel Wilson fan and this movie just feels like the extension of all her great comedy roles. The musical numbers are absolutely excellent and all this cast can really REALLY SING their faces off. I can't wait for the soundtrack to be released. My teenage daughters are already obsessed as well.
Favorite characters are Taylah and Koala Kid. I cried at the end too as it was so powerful with the "Pretty Strong" song. If you like musicals you should buy tickets to this as soon as it's released in cinemas. But it's also hilariously funny, so comedy lovers will like this too.

Freaking Awesome (can't use the stronger F word - not allowed!!)!!
Excellent original tunes.
Perfect cast (and perfect casting).
Gorgeous cinematography.
Capturing Aussie spirit, humour and the colourful characters that inhabit this glorious country.
You also really wanted the main characters to succeed in their end goal, riding the highs and lows along with them.
All I wanted to do after the film finished was put the soundtrack on repeat!
Without Rebel's wonderful directing, this film would not excel the way it has nor would it capture the highs and lows of the characters with such exquisite attention to detail.
Congratulations Rebel on this masterpiece of Aussie Cinema.

Wow! This is an awesome and very Australian film. So funny, I haven't laughed out loud in a film in years. It's a simple story beautifully told with a young, very talented cast, each one perfect in their respective roles. Catchy songs brought to life through amazing voices, and with fun, and very appropriate choreography. Must mention the cinematography and the whole look of the film, which captures both the desolation and isolation of an Australian drought through to the joy and euphoria when the drought breaks, all of which is stunning. Definitely a must see and I can't wait for the chance of another visit.
