  • This show is too good it is quite unique relationship wise. For me while watching the show, I absolutely loved Barnaby and Kotetsu's relationship as a team and as friends. The real reason I like the show is because of that! There is hardly any romance involved and this show will prove you don't need romance in everything as long that there's a great relationship of friends, family and/or even pets! This is a rare show for me I'd say, but there is a little romance. However once you see the romantic interest you know it won't go anywhere because of a certain reason that is understandable. The story is wonderful though cliché for a superhero show. The ending is great and makes you wonder if there can be more or that's good enough of a ending. The characters are likable for the most part and no doubt some of them have their own story arcs among the episodes. For me I think the show was good and I count this as my favourite anime's of all time too! Well in my opinion. So should you watch this show? Yeah go ahead! You won't be disappointed in the characters and chemistry between the main ones.
  • I thought it was a great idea to add a little twist and turns among the characters such as Tiger being the laid back funny single dad and the pretty boy Bunny who kinda has a type of "Batman" background to him. Also I honestly like the fact we get to see a openly gay superhero who you hardly ever see in anime or even in any superhero movie to date. Fire Emblem is just really one of the best LGBTQ characters out there in all honest, they really should've made a separate show for him but that doesn't mean I didn't like the other heroes either. Its just I thought it would be nice for a change in anime to get to know more of Fire Emblem as a person as well as a hero.

It was actually funny while watching both sub and dub versions (thats all the site had while going through eps), like both versions are awesome and thats actually rare for me. Like its either one or the other that is the best but nope, this proved me wrong there! Both sub and dub voice actors were brilliant at their performances . If you liked One Punch Man, my hero academia or any other superhero inspired anime, watch this folks!!!:)

With a name like Tiger & Bunny, you'd think this is a children's cartoon that teaches numbers and colors. When you find out it's an anime, you may fear that it's some kind of furry show. Looking at a poster, you may think it's just another giant-mech show. TIger and Bunny is none of these, but it's highly enjoyable, and I'd say one of the best anime for American viewers. Here's why you should watch.

The show takes place in an alternate version of Earth where super-powered individuals started appearing some 40 or so years prior. The setting is Stern Bild city, based on New York City, The show takes place roughly in present-day. When individuals with special powers appeared, companies saw an opportunity. They would sponsor heroes, televise their exploits, and cover any damages the heroes incurred. In return, the heroes would wear company logos and promote the company's products. In the present day, the current oldest-serving hero, Wild Tiger, is sponsored by a small company that is bought out by a much larger one. The new company partners Wild Tiger up with a new hero, Barnaby Brooks Jr., the first hero without a secret identity. At first, the level-headed and populist rookie and the old-timer clash in principles and procedures, but over time they learn to work together to take down super-villains.

I said earlier that this is a great anime even for people who aren't anime fans. The dub in this show is fantastic. I'd say most dubs have problems with syncing the original Japanese lip-movements to the new English dialogue. Oftentimes, the resulting delivery is very stilted to accommodate the original lip-movements. Tiger & Bunny, thankfully, has almost no moments when the dub is distractingly awkward. The voice actors in the dub are all great, and the only one I felt could have been better was the lead, Wild Tiger. To be fair though, it's hard to compete with Hirata Hiroaki's fantastic original Japanese voice performance.

The show is full of action, likeable characters, cool exploration of some areas that the Western superhero genre has failed to tread (like competing popularity between superheroes, reliance on corporations, etc.). The supporting cast is all great, and the CG in the show is incorporated surprisingly well.

Does the show have flaws? Yeah, of course. The second season was much worse than the first, featuring a lackluster villain, awkward exposition scenes, and a conclusion that somehow felt both rushed and drawn-out. Regardless, it was very unsatisfying. However, looking back on the show, I'd say I had a really good time. There were surprising great bits of humor, good characters, and a neat premise that ties this show into a nice little package, and an anime definitely worth watching.
  • Animation Quality: 8/10 - combines 2D and 3D well, best aspect of the show. Some of the 3D parts look clunky, however. The hands/fingers are especially bad.

Voice Acting: 7/10 - Pretty good and has some classic actors, but not amazing. All of the voices fit well, but some actors are much more believable than others.

Writing: 5/10 - The writing isn't as bad as most other reviewers complain about. That being said, it's mediocre at best. The overall long plot is especially lacking/shallow, and the short plots are usually pretty lame.

Directing: 7/10 - Decent, but some scenes are directed badly or rushed. Some of the camera work makes you wonder what the heck the director was thinking. One parts swayed the cam back and forth and actually made me nauseous.

Music: 4/10 - Basic and lacks variety. Gets repetitive quickly.

Overall: Like many Netflix animes, this one is sub par. Despite its great animation quality, its stupid premise and bad writing make it hard to watch. It's a very shallow, predictable show. The whole "sponsored TV show" version of MHA doesn't help either; makes it hard to root for the heroes. The only reason I kept watching was because it was fun to rip on. So many stupid scenes that were mind-blowingly dumb/corny that it actually became fun to watch in an ironic sense.

I watched this back when the episodes were coming out and I have now rewatched it several years later. Love this show!
  • Honestly, I didn't get into Tiger and Bunny when it first came out (like 11 years ago), and only recently started watching them.

Season 1 is kinda okay in writing. Plot wise is just average but what shines are the characters. Both tiger and bunny shined as main characters. The drama, the relationship between them (yes to shipper). It's just beautiful.

And now... season 2. Got to say it start pretty pg-13. Less violence. Some fanservice plot story. Then it suddenly freaking pick up on the last few episodes. Violence got dialled up to 100%!! And more!! There was blood and lots of broken bone. It got super exciting despite some iffy scene. Super fun season. I can't wait for more.

    The story is as follows

In a world where superheroes have corporate sponsors and are the stars of their own reality TV show, a new superhero team is born as the veteran hero Wild Tiger is assigned to be partners with rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr.

I watched the movie a few months back thinking it was like the start of the series but I was wrong since it turn out that movie was just a summarization of the first 2 episodes and it's not really relevant until like the last half.

Moving on to this I thought the series itself was very fun and we get to learn a bit about each character. I particularly enjoy Barnaby and Kotetsu's friendship/partner ship. Especially with how oposite they are with each other with Wild Tiger being a hero for a long time but being laid back while bunny is young and series to find answers of his tragic past.

The dub cast was also very unique and it really suits the setting of the anime.

If you are looking for a good anime to watch i recommend this.
  • Tiger and Bunny is now one of my favourite animes of all time and I'm kicking myself for missing out on it for over a decade! If you love the superhero genre told from a strongly character-driven perspective that still has a ton of action, then you'll find the older seasons worth a watch at the very least.

The main two characters' dynamic is my favourite part and is an absolute delight to watch unfold. As the episodes progress, you get to see a lot of depth and growth from everyone. The supporting and secondary characters are mostly well developed and a lot of fun, and even the side characters who start off feeling like lesser interesting background characters or (in some cases) cliche stereotypes are built upon in later episodes to have depth too.

I've seen some reviews mentioning the sponsorship angle being an issue for them (logos on suits, heroes whose agencies require them to do ads etc..) but to me this feels exactly like what a plausible capitalist world would look like and didn't bother me, I just thought it was funny. It's a talking point in the story as a

The world is gorgeous in its own eerie kind of way with an art deco style a bit reminiscent of the original Bioshock with towering statues, retro architecture and crazy stacked levels.

The plot of the older seasons feels overall well planned out and takes you through some mostly well-paced twists and turns, even if a few topics are cliche. The newest season that just came out in 2022 is still ongoing so I can't comment as much on it yet other than so far it seems decent.

Overall, I recommend giving it a shot! It's a fun ride.
  • I completely agree with "A waste of time" review by "sbr-658-9530574" that was written on August 2018. I've just watched 13 episodes which seems like a complete season with the whole upbringing and the end of one major event.

This show is about superheroes which are selling themselves out for sponsorship to do what they like and obey every command - a puppet show. Why I called it a sellout is because you can literally see uncensored or unchanged company names throughout the anime and it portrays the major role of those sponsors, how they control the play out of these called "super heroes".

The dialogues are dull and boring, the main character (Kotetsu) is underrated and being shunned even though he most of the time figures out who did what, but is never credited and that seemed very annoying to me especially at the end of episode13 where I decided not to watch this garbage anymore.

The animation/drawing art is really great and the voice actors (dubbed) as well, well but like I said sponsorship... Though ironically this anime lacks so much in the superhero department as nothing "awesome" or intriguing is shown by those superheroes. I'd rather suggest to watch Lego movies of superheroes, even though they are chilched, they are funnier and more interesting, lmao.

But yeah, I would suggest to skip this anime, maybe movies of the series are better. Also there are a lot of characters which could be seem as main, but there is no progression on them and the writing is very poor. The main protagonist/s Bunny and Tiger are the ones who evolve the most between each other (because they are a team), though it's still very slow and doesn't even seem like progress.

Overall this anime is trash, just a flashy and sparkly diamond made out of plastic. The hype is from people who haven't actually seen a decent anime. The only thing that kept me watching for this long was the animation and art style which I like, really speaks of quality, though everything else made it really boring and one episode seemed like it was going for an hour.
  • Took a fantastic and entertaining season one, then castrated, lobotomized and PC principaled every inch of it to create the most pathetic buddy-buddy, cry-fest anime on the air in S2.

If you love watching 20/25 minutes of people talking about their feelings... S2 was written for you...enjoy!

Season 1 was a masterpiece with good characters, coherent plot and nice ending. Then Netflix got it's hands on it and s2 was a disaster.

Existing characters became worse, plot points changed by Netflix writers to accommodate their new ideas and plot became trivial. Karina is head over heels for Tiger in s1, s2 starts they barely acknowledge each other minus one episode, i miss their interactions from s1 they were so funny. Bunny is sidelined for the entire s2 with the exception of a couple of fights, new characters like Thomas are copy paste of s1 bunny.

Plot in both parts of s2 is silly and irrelevant. Compared to s1 plot it's written by an 8 year old. We got zero interesting subplots like we had in s1 with Tiger being a fugitive plus interesting villains like lunatic play no part in s2.

The word that describes the entire s2 is decline. Worse characters, worse interactions, less fun, less action, simplistic plot exactly what has become synonymous with Netflix. I knew from the moment they got s2 rights for an original it was screwed. I can't understand why Sunrise left this masterpiece in the hands of Netflix.
