Crime-series of this kind origin from Scandinavia. They characterize themselves by intensely weaving their crime-plots into a difficult political situation. Thus featuring the politicians by equal standards as the criminals, the suspects and the police-officers. Often blurring the difference between justice and politics.
A famous example of such a series is the Danish 'the Killing', which enjoyed commercial success far beyond the borders of Denmark. 'Deadline 14/10' may do so as well - in that case I must warn you: its three discs only provide Dutch subtitles.
