After young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness - conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school.
Riley's house in San Francisco is a real place, but with a different address; in the film it is 21 Royal St., which is also a new private dining space in Disneyland, near Club 33.
Do you ever look at someone and wonder, "What is going on inside their head?" Well, I know. Well, I know Riley's head.
Although the journey of Joy & Sadness through the mental maze is of course metaphorical, it's still depicted incorrectly. Since the first row of long-term memory shelves radiate away from the cliff edge for just a short distance, there's a clear path running all the way around the memory dump, which greatly simplifies the journey.
The movie's title appears during the scene where the Andersens are driving to San Fransisco, just as they are exiting the tunnel; giving a subtle reference to "Inside Out".
