When aliens misinterpret video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth in the form of the video games.
Composer Henry Jackman's second video-game related movie. The first was Wreck-It Ralph (2012). His third is Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018).
That was some twisted Pinocchio-Geppetto stuff!
In the final act, the main character from Paperboy emerges from the ship. Paperboy (1984) came out in 1985, 3 years after the probe was sent into space.
Instead of "The End," it says, "Game Over" at the film's conclusion.
