It almost feels like some sort of abuse allowing this to happen and be pushed out. He's visibly not fully cognizant and only has about one line of dialogue, or partial line per scene. The movie despite being low budget or straight to video quality isnt even the issue. Bruce cannot or does not have any actual conversations outside of what feels like broken recorded and put together lines. He even looks aloof in the scenes shot, as if he wandered onto set while filming happened, they saw him and added his name to credits. Its sad. Movie/Story aren't awful but it feels broken to say the least, it hurts to see this happen. Especially onscreen.
Detective Knight: Rouge is directed by Edward Drake and stars Bruce Willis, Beau Mirchoff, Jimmy Jean Louis and Michael Eklund. The story follows veteran detective James Knight (Willis) who pursues a group of thieves from LA to New York after they shoot his partner but soon finds his past conflicting with his current case.
So by now we all know the unfortunate state Bruce Willis has been in which led him to make a bunch of DTV dreck the last few years. Since we're nearing the end of his career I decided to review his last few DTV flicks. I'm pretty sure he has three more in the can (with this being the first in an already filmed trilogy) and Paradise City with John Travolta set to release within a month.
I was a bit surprised to see that this was actually a little more polished and competently helmed than some of Bruce Willis' recent DTV movies. However, as part one of an already planned trilogy, Detective Knight: Rogue suffers from a convoluted plot and a lack of screen time for its main protagonist. Sadly, we don't see Bruce for long stretches of time as the movie focuses on the thieves, as well as a few other side characters that are intertwined with the plot. It's a shame because Bruce is actually giving an okay performance in this. He's in a lot of shots and only on occasion is it noticeable that he had his body double fill in for him. This movie really felt a little more cinematic and you can tell Edward Drake and co. Put more time and effort into this one.
I do also have to give a shoutout to the fact that Bruce does get a cheer-worthy John McClane-like one-liner at the very end that made the entire movie worth sitting through. It's a brief moment that makes me wish more of this movie were like that.

L. A. police detective James Knight (Bruce Willis) and his partner track down four masked armed robbers and a gunfight ensues. His partner is heavily wounded and Knight vows to track down the perpetrators. The group is led by Casey Rhodes (Beau Mirchoff), a former star quarterback who lost everything in a point shaving scandal. They are backed by bookie gangster Winna (Michael Eklund) who has a corrupt past connection with Knight.
Bruce is a step slow and more robotic. It shows in the first shootout scene. He barely is able to get down. With his illness, I was surprised that he actually attempted an action scene. During the last act, they actually put a mask on his character so a stuntman could do his work. They tried very hard to cover for him. In fact, he's only the Lead in Name Only (LINO). The lead is really Beau Mirchoff. I like him and I like his character. He has depth. He's great. The situation with Bruce is obvious and distracting.

Whoever gave the green light to make this film, should be ashamed. Bruce Willis clearly for the past few years, even before his condition was made public, no longer had the competency to act. Yet studios still sign him to make these cheap DTV films to capitalize on his fame and make a few dollars.
Detective Knight's plot was entirely incoherent and uninteresting with no help from the bland characters. It was difficult watching any scene with Willis, as he can only mutter a few words and nod when spoken to. Unfortunately, due to his illness, his personality and charisma are gone. As a consequence, his supporting cast have to frequently say lines most likely meant for his character or respond in ways that hardly come across as an authentic conversation.
I cannot give any reasons as to why anyone should watch this film, even if you are a die-hard Bruce fan. His name is just being exploited here. Go rewatch him in his old glory, and avoid this at all costs.

I used to be a big fan of Bruce Willis, but most of the movies outside the Die Hard franchise except for the fifth element and the red series, were not particularly interesting. This movie is probably one of the worst. I lasted through about twenty minutes then boredom won out. It starts out strong with a thwarted armored car heist, but goes downhill from there. I will not comment on Bruce Willis acting in this as I know he is ill. I do wish him well. The other actors are wooden and lack any nuance to their performance. The script is very week. The movie totally fails to draw in the viewer, I was being overly generous when I gave it a 2.

A gang of criminals stick up an armoured truck in LA. It leads to a shootout with some cops. This includes Detective James Knight (Bruce Willi) and his partner Fitzgerald (Lochlyn Munro.) The latter is badly wounded.
Now partnered with ex CIA operative now turned detective Sango (Jimmy Jean-Louis.) They arrive in New York to follow a lead regarding phantom chartered flights.
On their radar is a crooked bookie Winna who also uses ex athletes fallen on hard times for his robberies. One of them is ex pro footballer Casey Rhodes who was one of the gang members involved in the LA heist.
This is an inferior version of Heat. There are lots of location shooting involving guns. The story is dumb. You have scenes where LA cops hang their cop badges around their necks interrogating people in New York where they have no jurisdiction.
The film wants to give a psychological edge by focussing on some of the characters such as Rhodes who turned to crime to provide for his family.
The plot is not very fluid. There is a concentration on other characters as the nominal lead actor was too ill to be in many of the scenes. There is once scene near the end of the film where Willis is replaced by a stuntman with an animal mask on.

Seriously, this has gone beyond abuse, it's just sad what he's appearing in for "movies".
With such amazing lines as "well it's not much of a stretch to go from being an ex quarterback to bank robber"..... like what the actual f????
It was shot reasonably well, but nothing in the plot made any sense.
One amazing gem is how these footballers are all pro tacticians, ok let's roll with that without questions, but as a "diversion" his buddy goes and robs a bank, demands they call 911 AND demand that all the cops come out..... So of course, Willis and his unintelligible partner who are from a different city and not even part of the police force.... they go too. Which means of course that of the dozens of cops to respond, not one can hit anything until they draw pistols.
Don't waste your time, even reading this review is wasting more time on the movie than it's worth.

I can't understand how this movie passed any kind of selection or "inspection". I mean, the writing is beyond horrible. The dialogue is confused, empty and they look like filling the gaps by using the F word a lot. At this level of bad to average acting I think I prefer to watch a woke movie...
Even Bruce Willis doesn't seem at the top of his performance here, he seems sleeping during the entire movie.
The Director worked with the crew of True Detective, the awesome True Detective series. Obviously he didn't learn anything.
2 Stars for the cinematography, the colors, the image. Looks like Hollywood was deserted by good actors, good writers. They still have good cinematographers at least.

I'm watching this movie right now because on Amazon Prime are several of his last movies and it is SO OBVIOUS this man is very sick. They used him and his name to make money.
He is not acting, he is just saying his very short lines. Lines he can remember with his vascular dementia.
I'll remember Bruce Willis from Die Hard and Sixth sense. I wish him a good last days of his life although his spirit has already gone.
It is a pity they used his name and body in this B low budget movie and Bruce doesn't fit in the movie at all. He looks like he is under some spell. At least he will be leaving an awesome legacy.

It's hard to watch Bruce Willis in this film. I did however think Beau Mirchoff was worth watching and he did an outstanding job! Beau was in most of the film from start to end and I can't wait to see him in the next film with Bruce. Beau was blessed to work on Bruce's last projects and even tho it's hard to watch Bruce I am proud Beau of Beaus work. Beau did a really good job on this film and he stood out! A lot of feedback the movie was poor but I am focusing on the great acting Beau did in the film. It was fun seeing some of the same actors Beau had worked on past projects before. Super work Beau!!
Detective Knight: Rogue was directed by Edward Drake (Breach, Gasoline Alley), co-written by Drake and Corey Large (Apex, Cosmic Sin), and stars Beau Mirchoff (Awkward, Scary Movie 4), Bruce Willis (Wire Room, Acts of Violence), Trevor Gretzky (American Siege, 40-Love), Keeya King (Yellowjackets, Rush for Your Life), Jimmy Jean-Louis (Heroes, Joy), Michael Eklund (West of Hell, Nurse), Corey Large, and Lochlyn Munro (Margaux, Riverdale). It follows a group of masked criminals from California to New York on Halloween with a cop in pursuit with hopes of bringing them down. Directorially, Detective Knight: Rogue shows a clearer picture of what the helmer can do. Stylistics are mixed, with some choices to show cheesy flashbacks and an out-of-place title card that clashes with better ones that show Knight's state of mind, but there's a spark rising up somewhere in there. His direction in the edit, which was done by Justin Williams (Hunter's Moon, The Walk), is solid and full of interesting match cuts and transitions between scenes that are unremarkably lensed by Laffrey Witbrod (Girls After Dark, Game Day).
Raw production elements are still iffy, with locations that range from well-dressed and glossy to indeterminate junkyard hideout #358. It's probably for this reason that the lighting can occasionally be a bit flat, and the lowish budget doesn't help with the blending of CGI city extensions with real, inconsistently lit locations. Some of Detective Knight: Rogue's audio can be a problem too, as a handful of scenes sound like they were recorded inside of a tin can, making ADR a logical choice that isn't selected. This movie is at least the best produced and directed out of any of Drake's collaborations with Willis in spite of the flaws it does have.
Detective Knight: Rogue isn't a great crime film but after a groggy first act, it does give way to some cool crimes, decent characters, and a degree of novelty given the holiday it eventually uses when it's done being cliche. Drake hasn't been the luckiest director to work in the business. Often working with productions whose scripts were pieced together from multiple screenplays, had a low budget, and rarely had more than two weeks to shoot the thing. With Detective Knight: Rogue, he gets tossed a bone.

This movie can be summed up with one line of dialogue. "It's not too much of a stretch to go from ex football player to robbing a bank.". Uh..what? While the movie is shot well, there are so many logic and plot holes that makes this fairly unwatchable. I can't believe someone rated this 10/10. Do they come from somewhere they only have old VHS tapes of 80's comedies?

Having seen American Siege and now this movie both with Bruce Willis, it is clear that he just mails it in. He used to be entertaining but now is a complete waste of time.
The script is predictable and the acting wooden. Even the action scenes are poorly executed. Maybe they revived great tax breaks to film on location and show off the city
It is like Bruce just wants to have a few old friends around from movies he has made in the past. For example Trevor Gretzky is in his last two movies; is he a friend of Wayne?
If this is a trilogy I will simply avoid any more of Detective Knight and Mr Willis.

Bruce Willis has all the money he needs. He can now choose his own roles. Which means he can do whatever he wants to do, including these films. Was this film great? No! But it was not horrible either. Good story. Good characters. Lousy writing. But if you want an action movie these days that is not a marvel film, this is a good way to spend less than two hours! The next two films in this supposed trilogy could be better. I hope they are better as the Detective Knight character could be great. These films do need a better supporting cast, as that would not hurt at all. But I enjoyed it for what it was... an action movie with a rogue police officer who gets the job done!

This movie is the first part of a trilogy of action movies featuring Bruce Willis, who has unfortunately retired from show business due to some kind of dementia.
From the very first second, this movie wants to be an action thriller from the "good old days" and really doesn't leave out any clichés. Cool sayings, an ageing cop who loves working alone and nasty villains. Edward Drake tries to give the latter in particular a little more depth in his film, but doesn't get past the usual clichés. A pity, really. And unfortunately, these words can also be used to describe the entire movie.
The actors really try to make the best of the thin script, but it's so badly written that most of the dialog sounds like it was written by an AI.

The fam was looking for something good to watch and this didn't disappoint. We love eighties films and I was suprised this movie was out as we hadn't heard of it. Zero marketing. We got it on Amazon and I hear it will have sequals. Beau was strong and so was the actor Jimmy Jean. The directing and writing was good. Why the hate? Bruce wants to cook, let the man cook.
I dug the bad guy's house and his mission made sense. I have personally known guys like Winna who just buy their way into friendships or social circles. I cannot highlight enough how much this film is like a 'throwback'. I hear so many people say "they don't make movies like this anymore" and... They do! HERE is a good one but yall just aren't watching. My family had a good time and that's all I want out of a movie at this moment in our lives.

Always liked Bruce Willis
Apart from the death wish remake I can't think of a decent move he's done in 20 years - a sad decline to a career. What happened to maje him sign up to utter trash like these and possibly the previous 20 before that ??
This film is possibly the worst I've seen in many years and I've seen a few turkey's in that time
Awful script Dreadful wooden acting Embarrassing dialogue Cops that can't hit a perp 20 yards away in a straight line
Willis seems to be sleepwalking through the entire film - devoid of any emotion or interest - its painful to watch
Cliche ridden garbage.
