The account of Human Rights lawyer Shahid Azmi, an ordinary citizen with an extraordinary commitment to justice.
Both the Hindi language 'Shahid' (2012) from India and 'Hotel Mumbai' (2018), two dramatic theatrical feature films which cover the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, both had their world premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) with 'Shahid' (2012) debuting in the fest's 'City to City Programme'. The two pictures world premiered at the TIFF about six years apart.

During the trial of Zaheer, Shahid refers to the prosecution lawyer as "Mr. Sharma", instead of "Mr. More". This is the name of the actor (Vipin Sharma) and the name of his character is "Mr. More".
After the end credits, a 13-minute sequence shows the training session of Shahid Azmi, which was edited out to tighten the story.
