  • Brilliant film-making. If you are new to Indian films, start with this or if you want to show your non-Indian friend an Indian film, select this action-thriller classic. It takes some time to suck you in but once the ride kick starts you hardly get time to think about anything else. His vision is so majestic and out of the box. Visually stunning most of the time. I would describe this as a film with technically great, with high production value, with a casting perfectly fit, with great direction - good example for great film-making.

Much credit goes to Kamal Haasan. This is another example (After Hey Ram and Virumaandi) why I rate Kamal Haasan along with Maniratnam as the best film maker available in India at present. Vishwaroopam is one of the most intense action thriller I have ever watched. This is the kind of movie we say 'Almost perfect'.

All of us owe a big thanks to the legendary Kamal Haasan.
  • Long I had a wound, when there'll be a Tamil movie on par with Hollywood. Vishwaroopam lives to heal that wound. A perfect action, thriller experience right from the start. Filming in Afghan, US marines in choppers, RAW - M16 modus operandi, screenplay, action - all in one, brilliant film making. There was just one song at the start, then it was all action and thrill. Kamal impeccably played the Bharatanatiyam teacher role, with feminist moves, body language. The shame is that Tamilnadu Govt. has banned this movie, our own people are pulling him down when he attempts to scales skies. The narrow minded section of the Indian society cannot digest the truth, they are sleeping in a deep well where there's no light. Shame, shame people, shame on you protesters.

The movie is brilliant. I feel really blessed to have lived in the same time as Kamal. The movie has a much deeper message beyond all the expensive action sequences. We all know Kamal is a brilliant actor but his brilliance in screenplay, dialog and direction shows in this movie. There is a sequence in which Kamal attempts to push Omar's kid over a swing and the kid (who wants to be a doctor not a terrorist) chides Kamal saying he is not a kid. However Kamal finds a young Jihadi though considerably older willing to play with the swing, showing how innocent kids are being brainwashed by the terrorists. This shot itself shows the director's touch right there. But Kamal exceeds this feat in a couple of shots later. The young kid who plays with the swing kills himself in a suicide bomb attempt. When Kamal reads the news item and walks through the Afgan village he sees another kid in a swing. I doubt many will watch movie closely to see this directorial brilliance.

Folks should see this movie very closely as the plot is implicit at places. There is no punch dialogs or explicit narration of the plot. This is a clear attempt to lift the standards of tamil movies to another new level. It is disappointing to see the Tamil Nadu (TN)government making this such a tough road for such a great artist. HE IS JUST BORN AT THE WRONG TIME AT THE WRONG PLACE. Instead of celebrating such a great artist we make it tougher for him. What a pity!

I bet everyone will be talking about Kamal's feminine mannerisms and the great action sequences. But the movie is much more that just those.

Couple of suggestions to Kamal sir. 1. Make the songs available in Itunes 2. After a month or so make the movie available in sites like Amazon Prime and Vudu . I bet that he can get all his money back and more even the movie is not released in TN. It will be TN's loss not his.
  • Brilliant story of a spy that is often seen in Hollywood movies. Characterization of Kamal and Rahul Bose as people from same religion (Islam) and fighting for a cause from different perspectives, say it good and bad. The thrilling screenplay that gives surprise every second, while revealing the past of Kamal Haasan. Technical brilliance in action scenes which really takes Indian cinema to next level. Kamal Haasan once again makes sure that his creativity is beyond the imagination of Indian audiences and surprises you every moment. There is nothing controversial in the film as it just shows the two sides of coin. Like a Jamesbond film highlights Britain, Spielberg film highlights America, this Kamal's movie has highlighted Indian spy system. Besides that, this legendary actor commands huge respect for his technical brilliance.

However, the movie might appeal only to urban and A-center audiences, as there is no entertainment factor. And, adding entertainment in a movie like 'Viswaroopam' is like degrading the very meaning of creative intelligence. But the enormous budget mounted on this flick, is surely a risk, if Kamal aims only at Indian market.
  • Kamal Hasan is the man who always thinks high about the technical standards of the movie, can did once again a fantastic technically high standard movie. This movie should be the best ever Tamil movie came out till date in Tamil cinema history because of its technical sound and having a standard of an international things with it. As an actor we all know that he is the best man in industry and he proved it once again through this film. Tremendous acting as three different characters. Being a director cum writer, after hey-ram Kamal Hasan Written a brilliant script with high thrilling line. Even Hollywood movies too not defines this much of things about USA and Afganistan. His style of making and narration holds the Tamil cinema to next level and make it as an international movie. This movie is the must watch movie and sure it is one of the best movie ever made. Go and watch it for the brilliance of Kamal Hasan. My rating is 10/10. EXCELLENT....
  • Vishwaroopam - I am tempted to talk too much about the movie but restrained myself, because i know that many of you here(Chennai) haven't seen the movie. So, here's my review without giving anything about the plot away. It was totally worth the wait, the hype and the 750 KM travel all the way back and forth from Chennai to Bangalore and vice cersa in bike in a single day. A magnum Opus by Kamal. A technically brilliant piece of cinema this. This movie is a world class commercial thriller which tickles ur intellect a little bit and if you're up there going with the flow of the movie, you will love it if you're a cinema lover and not a Kamal fan. If you are a Kamal fan, then, well, u know. Certainly NOT a ONLY ONE TIME watch. Can easily enjoy more the second time.

The scenes that were talked about with gargantuan hype, the transformation scene and the pre interval block, truly are worth the hype and MORE! Whattaayy!! Simply stunning. I am tempted to say more but will stop, watch it for yourself.

The first half goes at a breakneck pace and it is over before you realise its over. The Afghanisthan block of the film, about the Al-Qaeda terrorists are carefully and intensely shot. Absolutely brilliant making!!! And I forgot the fact that i was watching a tamil movie in the second half. The cinematography, BGMs were of international standards. Kamal, the director, scores over Kamal the actor, which he always does when he directs, whether it is Heyram, Virumaandi or Vishwaroopam. Easily his second best work as director next to Heyram. The movie ends with a promise to have a sequel coming up and you only will wait for it to come as soon as possible to know the answers for many questions in the first movie.

And does it hurt any religious sentiment? Absolutely not! In fact, while watching the movie, I didn't even realise there was an issue going on. Don't know what all the fuss was about. We, the Tamil audience, are being deprived of our right in seeing a movie and in seeing the legendary Kamal Haasan. I would want the tamil version to be released in Tamil Nadu as soon as possible to witness this non-stop action ride.

Positives: Kamal as the Kathak Dancer, the BGM, cinematography and the stunning action sequences which are very well shot! Negatives: I really don't find anything negative about the movie.

Verdict : 10/10. A high voltage, adrenaline pumping Commercial Action Thriller Entertainer of International quality.
  • Vishwaroopam - Technically ... the best Indian movie I've seen so far...be it content, cinematography, audiography, art and editing. Multi-layered screenplay ... director Kamal scores here.... the movie is definitely a little slow when you're watching especially the afghan episode in first half ... once the movie is over and when it sinks in after a couple of hours .. you'd think of watching again for the making. The songs gelled really well with the movie however the bgm was very disappointing that most of the scenes were blank and brought down the pace of the movie.

Kamal Haasan's transformation was stunning and unexpected. 10/10 as an actor. Rahul bose's performance was noteworthy. Remaining actors Pooja Kumar, Andrea and Shekar Kapoor did a decent job. Very good casting.

On the controversy... there is nothing shown against Islam or Muslims.. in fact there were a couple of jokes about Hindus/Brahmins. The movie has attempted to show jihads as they are .. nothing that we've never seen in TV/Internet ... There is just a 1 minute scene in the whole movie that shows Indian Muslims in a great way and the amount of pain caused to Muslims and their families by these terrorists and the way the world treats Muslims (including Indian Hindus). This one scene forms the core... making it the most Muslim friendly movie ever. The only reason for you to get offended would be that you're a jihad and you don't like a movie that shows you who you are and what you have done.

$15 not down the drain.. in fact I'm thinking of night show tonight ... something I've never done in my life!
  • To start off with, I don't know why Muslims are protesting against this film. The charges that they make are untrue. The film doesn't insult or defame any religion. I request the protesters to allow the movie to get released so that everyone could get a chance to enjoy this masterpiece and know the truth.

Coming to the movie, this film will definitely go down in history as one of the best Indian Films. We Indians should be proud that a Indian film maker had made a movie on par with International standards, maybe even more.

The films opens up with a brilliant Kathak dance. Kamal Hassan has mastered this art and the effort he has put in really shows. The scene where he shows his stunt skills will give you goose pumps. From there onwards the movie picks up on a rapid pace. There isn't even a single dull moment in the film. The screenplay is very good and every scene has been filmed with lot of conviction. The movie runs for 135 mins but it could have been a little longer. I can't wait to watch Vishwaroopam II.
  • Warning: Spoilers
"Are you the hero or villain of this story? The good guy or the bad guy?," the wife wants to know, at a crucial point in the film when the tension is at its peak. "Both," the husband replies." I have a lot of emotional baggage and this is not the time to discuss it." Though we channel the same sentiments as the wife, the incredulous question is like a shot in the dark, almost providing an unwanted comic relief and momentarily making us question the intentions of its director.

Such is the versatility of "Vishwaroopam", an admirably ambitious though greatly flawed spy-thriller too caricatural to be taken seriously. Despite its negatives, "Vishwaroopam" never ceases to become anything less than a wildly entertaining, technical-dazzler of a film which grabs you by the eyeballs and lets go only when it wishes to.

A rambunctious wife Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) suspects her effeminate, Kathak-teacher husband Vishwanath (Kamal Haasan) of cheating on her and hires a private detective to trail him. Nirupama has secrets of her own - she's attracted to her eccentric boss Deepak (Samrat Chakrabarti). The private detective unearths a vital piece of information about Vishwanath on one of his trails - that he is a Muslim. But before he finds out anything else, he is killed by a group of terrorists he accidentally runs into. That one secret sets everything in motion - Vishwanath and Nirupama are kidnapped by the same group of terrorists led my Omar (Rahul Bose) and his accomplice Salim (Jaideep Ahlawat), who are sure that Vishwanath is someone they had met at a terrorist camp a decade back and the past comes to haunt them. Nirupama also finds out that her husband is not what she thought he is. So, who is Vishwanath? Why is Omar so interested in him? What are the secrets he doesn't want to let out?

Although the film kicks off with a rather clichéd idea of a suspecting wife eager to know of her husband's doings, the opening sequences are dealt with a light-hearted tone which incite guffaws but which are quickly disposed off because the tone changes to a grim one in the blink of an eye. We're transported a decade back in the heartland of Afghanistan where Omar runs a terrorist camp with the help of Vishwanath or maybe someone assuming an identity. The terrorist camps are annoyingly not fastidious in their treatment though Haasan, also the writer and director of the film, stealthily sneaks in some genuinely moving moments, like a young terrorist swaying on the swing with a longing for his lost childhood. Cinematographer Sanu Varghese beautifully captures the ominous landscapes with an eye of a poet and the tastefully done action sequences are sure to earn a few hurrays.

"Vishwaroopam" is one of those films which downplay their seriousness with their redundant attempts at creating comical situations when the plot does not demand one. For one, I couldn't understand why Andrea Jeremiah has a role which can only be described as a trivial one. Secondly, the film does not provide plausible answers to so many questions that the plot throws up. There are stretches of time when the film drones on and the anomalous dialog tends to get irksome.

Of the performances, Kamal Haasan is absolutely terrific, nailing the three characters he portrays with such ease that it's hard to believe that it is indeed the same person portraying them. Pooja Kumar is slightly over-the-top as the ditsy wife but manages to give a dignified performance. Rahul Bose is surprisingly underwhelming in what could've been a great performance.

On the whole, "Vishwaroopam" is a well-crafted thriller that hinges dangerously on the line of absurdity but it's one film which guarantees you a thoroughly enjoyable 150 minutes. But if it's logic you're seeking, I expect the sequel to make an entrancing watch to make up for the many questions that the first part left unanswered.
  • Warning: Spoilers
he wait is over. Kamal Hassan's biggest-ever film Viswaroopam, which has been delayed for one or the other reason, has seen the light of day in foreign countries but not in Tamil Nadu and some other Southern states as the High Court has stayed the release after several Muslim groups raised objection. After a gap of three years, Kamal Hassan is back with Viswaroopam, which is written, directed and produced by himself. The film was supposed to be directed by Selvaraghavan but as the director walked out of the film due to other commitments, Kamal took the responsibility of directing the film. The film is simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. It is made with the budget of Rs 95 crore, which is the second highest budget Tamil film after Rajinikanth's blockbuster Endhiran. What does the multilingual action-thriller has to offer? A reader named Praveen Kumar from New Jersey reviewed the film, as the movie was not released here. Read on for the review... The movie starts in America. Viswanath (Kamal Hassan), who will be seen as Kathak trainer, is surrounded by girls and one among them is Andrea Jeremiah. This makes Dr Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) to doubt on her hubby's character and hires a detective, who gets killed by Al-Qaeda group. The Al-Qaeda is planning to plant a Nuclear Bomb in New York and Kamal Hassan is well-aware of it. How? He has a past where he has a connection with the terrorist group, which is headed by Omar (Rahul Bose). Will the terrorist organisation succeed in their mission? What role does Kamal play? Is he a terrorist or an undercover agent? To know all these, you should watch the film. The story of the film begins on a slow note but it is gripping. The first half is entirely shot in the US, and keeps you engaged and generate a lot of curiosity. When it comes to second half, the narration is dragging at parts but gets interesting with Kamal Hassan's past getting revealed
  • As many have not seen the movie, i don't want to reveal anything here. So pls go and enjoy in a good theatre.

This movie is mindblowing and there is one 'Transformation Scene' in the movie. WOW - being a Indian movie fan, i have seen lot of mass scenes , but when i was watching this TRANSFORMATION SCENE, the feeling i got is something i have never felt while watching a movie.

Be it the bgm, scene, stunt, looks, action, song - all in that one scene makes it OUT OF THE WORLD.

The movie on a whole is a TERRIFIC VISHWAROOPAM on its own. It handles such a sensitive topic in such REALISTIC WAY...

Its a 3 hr drive to a terrorist camp in afganishtan during the war and you all get a glimpse of Osamabinlaiden - VISHWAROOPAM BEST Indian MOVIE .
  • Felt like a Hollywood movie at starting, Good Camera work, averagely good Story(not a new one), nice casting. Good to watch Shekar Kapoor after so long time. Hats off to Kamal Haasan for well executing the role of Kathak Dance Trainer.

But the movie has "Something is Missing" factor.

Failed to keep the promise somewhere in the middle. Movie is surely missing details. An usual case with all high budget Indian movie. Computerized graphical action was a complete waste.

    Expected more from Kamal Haasan.

Not that bad, but also not that Great!

Could have been a much much more better movie.

    Warning: Spoilers
After reading all the "awesome" reviews here I decided to give this movie a go. The movie starts off well but as soon as they start showing Kamaal Hassans past it becomes completely dull. There is no connection between the scenes from his past and future. The plot makes no sense at all. I had to fast forward to see the ending but was disappointed there too. In order to find out what happens next you need to wait for its sequel which I'm sure will be as pathetic as the first. Kamaal Hassan just wanted to show his audience that he too can do a spy role.

Please refrain from watching this film. It will save 3 hours of your precious time. My verdict 1/10

Its really a big shame to Tamilians and also for Tamilnadu, A single minority group of people can able to stop whatever they need. Its again make me to remember the scenes of Muthalvan. TN Govt propose order by having fear on the small groups. Why can't they provide full protection and arrest those group who are threatening on violence. Those group doesn't have any ideas or thinking other than their caste and religion.

Even Kamal can able to sell his movie outside India and get his profit out of it. But he won't. Still Kamal calling the protesters as "Brothers" Hats of to this spectacular human being and salute for lifetime.

Summary - Kickass, go for it! Disclaimer: The below is my personal opinion, continue to read only if you do not have a problem reading personal opinions. I'm not forcing you to read, in fact not even asking you to read further. Do at your own risk! As you would expect (or not) from Kamal, there is no Bollywood masala. There are songs, fights, dance, romance but no masala. There are genuinely stunning action sequences and 'wow' moments that should appeal to any movie lover. The movie also has some very funny moments, some typical Kamal moments discussing god, terrorism etc. There is intelligence written all over the movie, he doesn't treat any of his characters nor the audience dumb. On the downside, sometimes it might feel slow paced but there are enough twists and turns in the narration to keep you interested enough. Sometimes it doesn't feel like this is leading anywhere but all the knots are tied in the end (importantly -before you lose interest). You are not sure if you like what you are watching but when it ends you just love it. It might be better off with sub titles even in India, sometimes its difficult to understand what people say. Just to remind, this is an international movie made by an Indian. The lead characters are Indians, nothing else is related to India. This is not like a old Captain movie where all characters speak perfect Tamil. The one thing I remembered the most when I came out of the screen is Kamal the director. Had this movie made by a Hollywood director, it might have been nominated for few Oscars & had much bigger collection & IMDb rating of 8.5. Shame it has to go through such struggle to see light of the day. The ban has not just stopped theaters from screening the film, it has stopped millions of movie lovers a chance to watch a genuinely world class movie. Just sad that government doesn't trust the censor board that it appointed. I do not understand the ban- the story, setting & plot doesn't involve India. Actually more confused about the ban after watching the movie.

Living outside India, I do know what most people feel about (Indian) Bollywood movies. This is just the right one to take them to!

Marks on 10: 9 for the content, 0.5 for having the guts to make this movie
  • This is the best movie ever made in world cinema. Previously i was wondered about that for which reason kamal hassan got the directorial offer of Hollywood movie even he has all the skills. After watching the movie I say proudly that kamal hassan is not only the best actor but also a best best director. Enjoy watching this movie. Before releasing this movie kamal hassan faced so many political, theatrical threat to release the movie. Because he has planned to release this movie in DTH(Direct to home). If that would have happened, then it would have made a history in Indian cinema. For this DTH release all the theater owners and the distributor association opposed. Finally they made a speech with kamal hassan and it was decided that the movie will be released in theater first, then it will be in DTH. After that some political parties gave threat to release this movie. So tamilnadu government put stay to release this movie. After its release all around the world except tamilnadu the movie got full positive reviews only...Proud to be a kamal hassan fan..
  • Warning: Spoilers
I normally would never give a film a 10/10, because no film is perfect, and Vishwaroopam definitely isn't without flaws. But the effort that Kamal has put into this film and to have the film face so many hurdles and problems, I think a 10 is very well deserved. There was also ABSOLUTELY nothing against Islam in this movie. Portraying the life of Al Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan is apparently considered anti Islamic in some countries.

    Plus points:

To start off, the technical level of this film is on another level compared to what is being put out these days in Indian Cinema (this includes Tamil AND Bollywood). We can see the effort that was put into ensuring the action sequences and stunts were up to near Hollywood standards. Kamal's direction was brilliant, for a man who has only directed a few films, he is pretty damn good!

Cinematography was stunning. Especially the scenes portraying the life of terrorists in Afghanistan were breath taking.

The acting by the supporting cast was okay, but special credit goes to Rahul Bose..he was fantastic. However no one can hold a candle to the legend Kamal. This man is on another level compared to anyone in Indian Cinema today. He not only acts amazing, but he dances and even sings the opening song in this movie.

    Negative Points:

The background score was a tad below the level of this film in certain scenes. Expected more from Shankar Eshan and Loy who were making there Tamil Debut.

The movie dragged a bit near the ending in the 2nd half.

    Conclusion:

If you want to see glamour, some typical action, some typical Indian songs and kids trying to act then grab some popcorn and go see Alex Pandian, Race 2 or Debangg...but if you want to see something different, something with a message & something with REAL acting, then see Kamal in Vishwaroopam!
  • Warning: Spoilers
Saw the movie amidst the UNWANTED, POLITICALLY catalyzed agitation. However the movie turned out ti be a fantastic Spy thriller, which is well made, in terms of action scenes, screenplay.

As usual Dr Kamal Hasan gave a stellar performance, only this time coupled with with his genius in direction and story. Music was soothing and Background score was excellent, the opening song was soothing and gives the required start to a fast paced spy thriller...

Kamal Hasan does a great job in the research of the America's Afghanistan operations and which worked well for the locations and terrains chosen for the movies.

Though Rahul Bose was not very good as a Terrorist Leader... He did a fair Job

Over all this is a film well made and a must watch for all...
  • When was the last time you saw a South Indian movie unfolds the plot in the first ten minutes?

When was the last time a South Indian movie crossed the boundaries not just for songs?

When was the last time a complete commercial Indian movie was made with no or a single song?

The above questions might ask you for some time. Instead, I will help you with my answer. VISWAROOPAM.

Viswaroopam is an out and out commercial cinema worked out to entertain Audience. This is a story written to break the barriers of boasting stardom and regions dealing the story.

The room for controversy in the movie is nothing. The Characters portrayed in this movie revolves around the Story but not Religion. There is no single scene or dialogue in this movie degrading any Religion or dealing Blasphemy. This movie dealt with the terrorist character Omer but not Islam. Apart of this there are good and innocent Muslims shown in this movie. A Young Muslim boy wants to become a Doctor and save his Village. Young Boys Mother who wants to get her Son educated. An innocent Youth turned in to Suicide bomber by Omer and many innocent villagers in Afghanistan. The Protagonist of Story also played a Muslim character giving value to Islam.

Viswanath A.K.A Taufeeq is an undercover Indian Spy in Newyork, Who is assigned with the mission to safeguard Newyork city from possible threat from Omer, A terrorist camp leader in Al-Qaeda. The Story is interesting and engages Audience slowly in its World. Protagonist impersonates himself as a Kathak dancer and care taking Husband for his intolerant wife. The real layers of story unfold when Omer recalls his days with Taufeeq in Afghanistan. And the rest should be enjoyed on Celluloid.

Kamal Hassan took this Indian cinema faraway from India. When his contemporaries dance and fight on the band wagons, Viswaroopam took us to Afghanistan. Kamal's versatility, Love and Global reach in cinema are once again evident with Viswaroopam. There is only single song in the movie, which will not serve an Indian Audience purpose of song. The moment when Viswanath transforms in to Taufeeq, It felt Indian Cinema has Ethan Hunt (Mission Impossible) at our service. Viswanath's character has total potential to become Ethan Hunt for India. I don't mind expecting few series of movies from this Character Viswanath.

Kamal proved us, It is not necessary to make a movie inside your living conditions to sale it. That's exactly what James Cameron proved in Avatar with Pandora and Stanley Kubrick in 2001 A Space Odyssey. I sincerely admire Kamal for choosing such a subject not relating with any other cinema made by his contemporaries. The story set in Afghanistan serves as a fresh treat for our cob-webbed minds. It deals with few notorious and cold blooded characters he ever conceived.

On the other hand, Kamal took his own risks in dealing Viswaroopam. He is well known for his Out of Box and Intellect movies. The same point could be his killer. Viswaroopam pars the IQ level of Indian rural and sub-urban Audience. Dealing with Dirty Bombs, Uranium, Radioactivity etc.. Audiences were puzzled and movie sounded dumb to them. There is a chemistry that does not gel up between Kamal and rural audiences. The deliverables from Kamal were always having high expectations. Kamal mesmerized Audience with his past performances like Appu Raja, Nayakan, Swathi Muthyam, Bharatiyudu etc. Ironically none of those above movies were directed by Kamal. After accepting Kamal as a director; He does not had good personal records. Heyram, Virumandi were critically acclaimed but not commercially well done at the Box Office only for the reason of superior content and storytelling. Viswaroopam poses the same question once again.

If you like to listen a good story, If you are already aware or ready to accept concepts like Radiation, Uranium and Dirty Bombs. Over All and Above if You can watch an Indian Cinema with only one song in it. You are welcome to Viswaroopam.
  • If you compare zero dark thirty and Vishwaroopam its average flick. One hero is beating ten people and no bullet touching hero. that it. story is k. Acting wise Kamal Hassan and Rahulboss is good. both the heroin are horrible. Poojakumar she is Hollywood actress but her expression and acting is horrible. Story is not great k k. if you watch zero dark thirty you will come to know what is real movie. Then this hype came because minority people opposed that why.

    Warning: Spoilers
Kamal Haasan at his best. This movie has brought out the director in him to the max. We do not need to talk about his acting, and we have seen his other directorial ventures. This one has struck me the most.

    *Spoiler Below*

His transition from a dance instructor to a commando in the fight, is one which will remain as one of the best action scenes in Indian cinema. His effort to capture the life of a jihadi in less than half of the total length of the movie is extremely commendable. The efforts which have gone into making it look how you would have imagined and beyond is what makes Kamal really a great director in the movie. Soundtracks make the best companion to this movie. No one else other than S-E-L could have pulled off such a good soundtrack.

    Must watch movie.
  • Best in Technical Perfection. Brilliant narration and casting. This film takes the tamil cinema to the world standards(thank kamal). Kamal hasan proved himself once again as one of the most accomplished filmmaker in India. The movie if fast and thrilling. There are some some occasisons which makes you stand. The story is too big for any filmmakers. But, Kamal handled the story very well. Also, i mostly appreciate for the cinematography and editing part of the movie. The war scenes excellent. Viswaroopam is the result of Kamal's hardwork and and his eager for quality movies in Indian cinema. Also, i am really happy hearing that Viswaroopam 2 will be coming soon.

Horrible Movie Wish they had continued the ban on the movie. would have ensured that i had saved my 360 Rupees i had spent on the movie plus cost of the popcorn well the popcorn was good,so not gonna call that a waste but the movie surely was

never seen such an over rated movie.. by giving such a high rating for such a movie , sites like us would loose their credibility. certainly not world class, certainly not amazing.. have seen a lot more movies which are better and this is your daily average flop Hollywood movies. just need to tune into any of the English movies for that.

Please Kamal, we expected a better movie from you. certainly not something in this standard. you are lucky ur fans are hyping it this ways else it would have been another looser
  • I cannot say , this is the best movie of Kamal Hassan as an actor. But as Director, this is a Brilliant movie. Flawless visual effects. He has joined the League of legendary Indian directors.

It was an Immersing experience overall. When the Intermission screen falls, I just realized , I am not in Afghanistan and ufff, I am alive. (May be I was too much into the movie)

There is a fight sequence in this movie, the actual Intro for Kamal Hassan, BELIEVE ME , ITS STUNNING. Its worth paying just for that sequence.

KH fans out there, Its a TREAT for us.

Disappointment from Shankar Essan Loy. They could have done better, dint live up to the pace of the movie.

There are some DELIBERATE loose ends in this movie, to have us hooked for Viswaroopam II

I dint see any scenes, hurting our Muslim brothers. Please understand, Kamal Hassan is talking Anti-Terrorism in Viswaroopam.

Overall, Viswaroopam is Phenomenal. Must watch !
  • Outstanding first half in Kamal's movies released in more than 20 years. Great script, well researched, lot's of details paid into script. Absolutely fantastic performance by Kamal in first half. Way better than "Half baked " Goutham Menon's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. Technically can be the finest Indian movies made at international standards, great photography, editing, fantastic art direction, terrific special effects and stunts.

A must watch for all Indian movie fans to enjoy the details of movie making.

Music is good jelling well with movie, BGM is minimal.

Watched in USA in Packed cinema house
