  • Warning: Spoilers
Excellent, emotional, realistic and sad enough unknown to most voters in Switzerland. Filmed through the perspective of a Nigerian asylum seeker the film allows viewers to grasp the bureaucratic and inhuman life some asylum seekers have to endure in Switzerland. Anybody who has visited the "Empfangszentren" and followed the media footage around the death of Joseph Chiakwa can vouch for the quality of the film. Young asylum seeker Joseph Chiakwa applies for asylum in Switzerland under the false name of Alex Khamma. His request is denied and he is hence living on the "Nothilfe" granted by the state until deportation awaits him. Viewers are invited to see his situation through his eyes (excellent camera work), his constant fear of the police and the imbalance of power in his sexual relationship with a mature Swiss woman really come across. Since this is a short film reading a long summary is probably not what you should do - watch it and do some research and in case you are Swiss consider this unusual perspective when talking to and/or about asylum seekers...
