For the first time in nearly eight months, Kassem Gharaibeh (known online as Kassem G) has released a new video on his YouTube channel. In a very special episode of his web series California On, Kassem heads to the woods to search for the legendary Sasquatch.
The documentary is titled California On Sasquatch: A Not Finding Bigfoot Special, and at more than 30 minutes in length, it's the longest video Kassem has ever released on his YouTube channel. It begins with some of California On's typical man-on-the-street interview segments before Kassem takes a trip to Pocatello, Idaho, where he and local resident ShayCarl visit a man who collects Bigfoot relics. In the third section of the video, Kassem and his team of not-quite-experts (including YouTube content creator Rawn "HiImRawn" Erikson) venture into the woods, where they hope to catch sight of the legendary cryptid.

He had the first auds roaring in the aisles with his seam-splitting debut. The Park City at Midnight launch of Black Dynamite catapulted Scott Sanders into the B-movie homage/slapstick elite. Fast forward to 2012, and the helmer found his sophomore project with cult actor Luis Guzman toplining. High grade schlock or a delirious action-comedy offering, details on the Lionsgate project have been mum: production got underway in June of 2012, there is no release date and not much news in the in what should have been its year of release. Has Aztec Warrior been pinned down because of extra work (see concept art here) or has it been prepped with a ribbon, marketing campaign for a slick Sundance delivery? We’ll soon find out.

On NBC’s My Name is Earl, actress Nadine Velazquez played Catalina, a maid who was as air headed as the rest of the bunch. When I sat back to watch the Denzel Washington starrer, Flight, I saw a very different side of the sultry actress, quite literally. Her latest news? She has just signed the dotted line to join the cast of TNT’s Major Crimes.
Velazquez is a new series regular for the upcoming season of the drama, which is a spin-off of the ever popular The Closer, which sang it’s swansong last year. Major Crimes stars Dances with Wolves and Battlestar Galactica actress Mary McDonnell as the Captain of a major crimes police unit. Deadline delivered the good news about Velazquez’s new role.

The world may not exactly be crying out for another instalment of the bafflingly successful Scary Movie franchise (though that success naturally means Dimension Films is happy to keep cranking them out), but one person who is glad the fifth outing exists is Terry Crews. He’s just been cast in the film.Crews, chatting with Blackfilm about all sorts of topics (including the gathering rumours about Expendables 3), dropped word that he’s just worked on Aztec Warrior alongside Luis Guzman and will be showing up in Scary Movie 5.“That’s being directed by my man Malcolm Lee, who I love from The Best Man,” Crews says, though he isn’t specific about his character. Last week, news arrived that Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan are close to signing on, which has since been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. In addition to Aztec Warrior and his latest outing with...

It’s hard not to be excited for the eventual release of Aztec Warrior, seeing as it’s set to combine the skills of Black Dynamite’s delightful director Scott Sanders and character acting’s patron saint Luis Guzman for a ridiculous tale of warring Mexican professional wrestlers. But, due to some concept art for the film that Twitch posted today, suddenly everyone’s feelings about the film might be a lot more confused. Sure, this poster titled ‘Aztec Warrior vs. The Office Robot’ looks pretty dang awesome, but what the heck are we actually looking at? Yep, you guessed it, that’s an artist’s rendering of Luis Guzman wearing a suit and a lucha libre mask while facing off with Robocop’s haywire robot Ed-209. The question that any sane person must be asking after seeing this image is, “What exactly does a giant robot have to do with a movie about warring professional wrestlers...

Director Scott Sanders turned the blaxploitation film on its head with the deliciously tongue in cheek Black Dynamite and now he is doing the same to the luchador with Aztec Warrior. Sanders begins principal photography today on the Pantelion backed film starring Luis Guzman in the title role with Terry Crews (The Expendables) and Mexican comedian Eugenio Derbez in support. Sanders cites cult hits such as Santo and Blue Demon vs Frankenstein and Mil Mascara vs. The Aztec Mummy as key influences while noting that they've brought in Uruguyan effects house Aparato - the folks behind hit viral video Panic Attack that launched director Fede Alvarez's career - to juice up the quality of the special effects. And why do they need effects? Well, for...
