  • I was expecting to hate this series given that it is not really aimed at me (I am 64). However I find it genuinely witty without being the usual low-level smut that passes for comedy in many programmes and movies aimed at the 15-30 age group these days. The actors deliver their lines and play it at just the right level and it is good to see that there are writers about that can bring something , while not new, to the table that is above the level of the usual dross we are fed with. Anna Chancellor and Angus Deacon work well together as the parents of the pregnant daughter. Sean Verey as Jamie and Scarlett Alice Johnson as Laura make an engaging "couple" of expectant parents ably supported by Yasmin Paige and Dylan Edwards as Jamie's friends. It is refreshing to see "unknowns" (at least to me) making such a good job of comedy which would be easy to make a hash of.
  • It was amusing and covered a serious subject with some insight. It had good characterisation and some genuinely laugh out loud moments. The acting was solid without any poor performances.

well that's what it was in series 1 and 2.

then along came series 3 and what a disappointment it's been. it has degenerated into farce with comic book almost slapstick humour that just isn't funny. I could speculate about the whys and wherefores but really just feel let down by the first two episodes of series 3.

so what has changed ? the actors that are still in it are the same. it's the writing that has taken a dive. I doubt I will watch any more episodes. pity...

so in summary, watch series 1 and 2; really don't bother with series 3 unless you are twelve.

    Warning: Spoilers
Actually I am somewhat surprised there isn't an American knockoff of this show. There are some very funny moments Dylan Edwards as Mike actually steals the show as the best friend, know-it-all, loser who can't get a girl period. The rest of the cast is fine but Anna Chancellor is probably the face you will recognize if you are a fan of BBC TV. The title of the second episode actually sums up the premise of the show: "Pregnant Rapist." Laura who is 18 gets drunk at a party, parental rebellion, and has sex with an underage boy and of course gets pregnant. Actually that "sex" scene is one of the funniest filmed. Then the big question is will she have the baby or not. If she does her upper class parents' plan for her future college and law degree will be ruined. As there are two years of this series, you know the choice. So can a female predator, self-defined, find happiness with a underage father from the wrong side of the tracks. I will take credit for some being a tad prescient as there is now an American ripoff entitled Welcome to the Family staring Mike" O'Malley as an MD whose ditz daughter gets knocked up by the Latino son of a gym owner; however, the writing is insipid and the characters are dull unimaginative stereotypes.
  • We were captivated by Pramface from the first moments and delighted with the acting and timing of its young cast.

To have a funny, modern, endearingly lifelike story told without resort to the 'f' word every other breath was a delight. A second series was a real bonus. We told all our friends and hope they had as much fun as we did.

It has been the only programme worth watching on any channel in the last 12 months and lit up our week.

I am 71 and my husband is 78. Are we your oldest fans?

Thanks to all the cast for entertaining us so well.
  • I have just finished watching all 3 series of Pramface on Hulu and I am very disappointed to find that there isn't (and won't be) a series 4. I often search the archives in vain to find, what I class as, a good comedy and stop watching the majority of them after just a few episodes as they are terrible. Pramface was well acted, kept me laughing and, best of all, kept me hooked. It had a very strong cast and I feel that it was good viewing for all age groups. I am 51 years old and have spent my life being entertained by Only Fools & Horses, The Vicar of Dibley and other great BBC classics like QI and Have I Got News for You etc and know a good comedy when I see one! I feel that the BBC commissioner has made a big error in not proceeding with this excellent show, while keeping other shows running that are far inferior. Shame on you BBC commissioner, you are out of touch with your viewing public!!

Brilliant show - absolutely hilarious. A must watch... also their twitter stuff is great - I love when you can get to the show online @pramface

Acting from Sean and Dylan is super.. I love their hilarious relationship. Also, the dysfunctional family aspect is great. Two very contrasting families work well against each other.

Praying for a 3rd series. Great work BBC3. The new comedy of 2013. Reminiscent of Gavin and Stacey and other classic comedies. Make sure to continue following (the show and twitter of course!)

    Well Done all!
  • Pramface is a show i constantly go back to rewatch. The actors are brilliant and the show is well written. The characters are hilarious and work brilliantly together. One of the BBC's best shows i highly recommend you give it a watch!
  • Pramface is a witty and laugh out loud social comedy coming form the Brits and is targeted primarily at teenage audiences, but quite well balanced for those long past the target audience ages. Since the show focuses on such quite serious topics as teenage pregnancy, teenage parenting and the troubles and challenges of being a teenager and a parent while at the same time having to deal with one's own parents, but at the same time never fails to exaggerate and somewhat sketch such situations, there are many and many funny moments in this show.

Going hand in hand with another great British series (My Mad Fat Diary), Pramface is a high quality TV show, which manages to tackle serious topics with a laugh out loud attitude.

Bucking the usual BBC3 trend for hand-to-mouth budgets and scruffy single sets, this has a massive cast, gorgeous houses you'll want to nick decorating tips off and its low-level smut is cushioned by some genuinely LOL-worthy moments.

Setting its stall midway between the cringe comedy of The Inbetweeners and too-cool-for- school Skins, it stars two ex-EastEnders: Scarlett Alice Johnson, who you definitely won't recognise as Vicki Fowler, and Emer Kenny (minus Zsa Zsa's blue hair extensions and stroppiness) who you probably will, as well as newcomer Yasmin Paige.

On the boys' team are Dylan Edwards and Sean Michael Verey.

I could tell you which pair of teens end up expecting a baby by the end of this episode, but that would spoil the surprise.

A second series has already been commissioned. Quite right, too.

Thanks to the writers of this show. I got accidentally pregnant at 21 and the father was 19. We were too young and those years were a bit of a blur emotionally... the show with its humor is helping me negotiate old feelings and really move past it all. My son is my pride and joy and I'm so glad I didn't have the abortion, even though things didn't work out with his father.

Again, I'm just grateful to feel less alone, and enjoy the comedy and serious nature of the show all mix in! The actors are adorable... the parents are classic - I just feel like I can relate so much! I even tried alcohol and threw it all up just like she did! Brilliant.
  • To start with, I'm an older Gent in my 50's and American. I enjoy some of the British series. I watched this series when it first came out and recently 're-found' it online. This was a series where casting was perfect. All of the characters really clicked and it was like real life. Who watched this series without rooting for Jamie and Laura to end up together? It was like watching a real life couple. Sadly, the series was left hanging when it was cancelled after 3 seasons. On a high note, the actors who played Jamie and Laura completed the series on their own. After the series ended, they had a baby of their own and later married. Now, they work together at a teaching school for the performing arts. I guess they got the storybook ending after all.

I started watching Pramface when it was on the BBC player top 20, and ever since, I have been hooked.

I started watching the show in series 3, however i am currently halfway through series 2 having watched series 1 and I just love it!

I also like the idea of that one friend who thinks he doing right and thinks he is really cool when really, he just makes everything worse and make light of every situation.

I have to admit though, series 1 is incredibly funny compared to 3, but still like the whole teenage pregnancy TV show idea.

Hope there is a series 4!

A must watch for anyone wanting a funny night-in.

    best
I really enjoyed watching Pramface. It was actually one of the best TV show i have ever watched,

however i was really disappointed when they cancelled the show after 3 series.

I want to know if it's possible to bring back Pramface in 2016 or 2017. even tho i am watching these series in 2016 i am surprised that i missed a show like this when it first came out when i watched the whole 3 series i searched for the 4th season but there is none this was huge disappointment

cause i will love to see the other series for this show
  • Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy watching Pramface and all the funny predicaments everyone gets into. Love this show. I hope this series gets great reviews and continues with their success. I have recommended this show to all of my family and friends. I hope season 4 is out soon with many more predicaments for everyone to get into. I like how the story gets inter tangled with the other characters stories and switches from one groups predicament to the other groups predicament. Reminds me of how life is not able to be controlled and how everyone should just go with the flow of life. The character of Jamie the 16 yr old unwed young man is not really typical of how a 16 year old would act and is endearing to women viewers.

I think that PramFace is excellent.

I stumbled upon it as a hulu exclusive and have not been able to move away from it.

I found it 24 hrs ago and now- am waiting for the next episode with baited breath! I think anyone who comes upon it will be surprised at the amount of humor and real life content within the show.

The cast is spectacular. "Jamie" and "Laura" have great chemistry. Jamie's parents are quirky and awesome.

The script is great. Each episode is very engaging.

I am in my early 30's and find myself relating to some of the instances in the show.

Way to go to everyone in the cast!
  • After watching this series I have realized that high school boys falling in love with more sexually advanced women is among my fav topics for film. All my life I have been very hyper aware of myself. Identifying with these male characters experiences like they are new fresh and sometimes not understood. Pramface gives me emotions for experience that would be impossible for me to have and yes its very easy to feel in the moment with the characters.

According to my culture the main characters have damn near immaculate personalities meaning that they are compelled to have a clean mind and code of conduct. If this were not the case at all I could not recommend because there is too much nastiness in the world for me to want to share it with others.

This has inspired my first review. I hope it was a good read. I am uneducated please forgive any incompetence on my part. If you like this series you also may like the movie "the Girl Next Door" although that one is a much faster somewhat more wilder ride.
  • My first impression was that there were things lacking in this. Recently I have seen Star Wars for the first ever time and I got the same impression and shrugged that off by considering it as a story written by a very effective geek that not surprisingly turned out as geared to 8 year old boys.

So, many still respect Star Wars, I only saw it because of the comments about it in the Scream series and then found ordinary priced second hand copies of a few. Some seem to like Pramface as well, though I do not think that it is intended to appeal to boys of such a young age?

I find Pramface to have several positive aspects in the story details so I will not try to hide from season 2, if it appears on disk. Pramface has some very effective actors, but for me it lacks the support needed for their effectiveness to shine.

    *

Other series that I have seen recently includes Jonas season 1, season 2 not being available yet. I was attracted to this because of Camp Rock. A positive aspect that this shares with Pramface is no canned laughter. For me a big plus. Other than that, a problem as the first ten episodes I really preferred to avoid. But by 1-11, midway into disk Season 1, Volume 2, things picked up and it varied between average and a bit above average. It includes a character with the Disney look best shown by Ashley Tisdale in HSM and Zach And Cody, just for me the look was starting to feel overdone. It did make me wish that season sets of Zach And Cody were available instead of just the two sampler disks. Tisdale has a real magnificence in these.

Shake It Up. I had great hopes for this, just it turned out to be just an average series with canned laughter added. Aarghhh. My DVD is a compilation of seven episodes from seasons 1 and 2 so it is unlikely to appear as full season sets. I was actually a bit disappointed by the lack of sets as season 2 improves.

W.I.T.C.H. animated series. The first few books of the series are available locally at affordable second hand prices, just the DVDs only seem to include a few episodes so I guess it might work out rather expensive to get full season sets, if that is possible. I do like the novels, though, neat second childhood food. The TV version seems really okay too, once I had gotten over my initially hostile reaction.

Sofia's World. A TV series from one of the smaller TV channels, and one that is definitely a step above average. A UK sixth former doing work experience at a teen magazine. My DVD set has a dozen episodes, comprising all of seasons one and two.

Fame. I came across a few of the later episodes of the 1980's TV series when it was broadcast in the UK. The season 1 DVD set tells me that it is way better than I remember it, a lot better than the average TV series, quality, though many appear to disagree on that.

Hi-5. A series from Australia, with some seasons geared to the USA market. This is geared to kids around age 5, though some males in their twenties appear to have a love of it. Is that the age twenty something actors being what some would consider to be attractive or is it recognition of useful second childhood food? First viewing of volumes 5 and 6 I found Hi-5 to be alien, but tolerable on a later viewing.

Six Feet Under, season 4. This has four episodes with the Trachtenberg as a scary popular music singer, guarded by the lover of the gay. I find this series as way above average if not viewed too often.

Gossip Girl season six. As with other seasons I experience this as way above average. This final season is also more approachable than the others. The series finale is excellent.

Surprise. Star Wars, Clone Wars, animated series season 1 volume 1. Instead of being Star Wars disease I found it to be even better than any of these, even better than Gossip Girl, series finale excepted.
  • This is one of the best British series ever made. It's amazing that it was cancelled after 3 seasons. The story arc was not completed so the ending was left hanging. The acting, casting and script were all spot on and there was so much more ground that could have been covered. Each character was perfectly matched to actor, and the script and dialogue remain as relevant today as when it was written ten years back. Really sad that the potential was not recognized and the series allowed to continue. However, British series are often like that, they end after a few seasons. A remake would not do this justice and to do a sequel could never match the original.

    Warning: Spoilers
Watched this show a million times, can't believe there isn't a 4th series, wonder how Jamie and laura and there daughter Emily are doing now wonder if they got married or had more kids or beth got with Jamie so many questions need answers. I guess it's like gavin and Stacey series and how that ended with smithy and nessa, apart from how it ended the show is amazing and funny best series I've watched in a long time in my top 10 british comedys, only fools and horses, phoenix nights, max and paddy, inbetweeners, two pints of lager, gavin and stacey, siblings, cuckoo, pramface, man down. We need a 4th series!!!!
  • Pleasantly surprised by the 2nd series of Pramface, rounded characters, all given their moments of glory, Yasmin, hilarious as woman finding out what arrogant handsome toffs are like, Scarlett as the young Mum, emphasis on her confused innocence as a new Mum looking for friends, and finding 'slags'in the park, and bores elsewhere. Who hasn't done that? Wonderful stuff, not overdone slapstick humour, just right, pacey direction. An intelligent sit-com at last, refreshingly new cast, with fast funny humour. Angus Deayton, terrific cameo as an ace snooker player. Good unpredictable ending with the demise of the Jag! This character has been developed and please may it continue in that way. Super script for Angus. Hope this little quiet sit-com continues. there is so little that is written well these days. Mrs Browns Boys may appeal to some, but I would prefer to see this type of up to the moment sit-com, haven't felt so satisfied and humoured since Friends or Cheers. Well done lovely cast, lovely characters. keep writing good lines for them! Thank you Pramface team.

Well, I've watched this series twice now over the years... its almost criminal that there has not been a 4th season... I don't think I need to say much more... Great acting, heartwarming series, but it is unfinished. There's is more to the story that has not been told... and that's a shame.

However apparently I have to fill a quota of characters to class this as a review sp I would like to say for a second time, that this series is great but deserves another season as the story is u unfinished and that is frustrating. Oh ffs, 76 characters still.... BBC, pick this series back up and continue the story please l!!! There needs to be a proper ending.
  • mmuhseen6 June 2013
An amazing shown, loved it from the beginning!! They should not stop it and they should have more episodes and more seasons, hopefully a lot more!!!!! Really funny and i love Jamie (Sean) and Laura (Scarlett) is really funny, as the different backgrounds make it hilarious. However, season one was better than season 2. Hopefully they will make an amazing season 3. Beth and Mike are pretty funny and the last episode of them in season 2 was rather funny as well. Hope to see them more together. Hoping there is a twist in season 3 with Laura and Jamie's relationship, which there probably will be as they need to make the story more entertaining.

I'm rewatching series 3 as part of a general rewatch. In my opinion, it's got the same brilliant, funny, touching qualities as the other two seasons. If it's not as good as the first two seasons, it's very slightly less if at all. BBC should have stuck by it and let this excellent show continue to its natural ending. I sincerely believe it would have picked up more and more viewers as word spread in the same way as many other sitcoms eg Only fools and Friday night Dinner. It beautifully encompasses a large range of emotions from comedy to drama. What a shame the powers that be did not have the guts to back it up!
