Disgraced Secret Service agent (and former presidential guard) Mike Banning finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack; using his inside knowledge, Banning works with national security to rescue the President from his kidnappers.
While filming the White House tourist scenes in Louisiana, the weather was so hot that the Humane Society representative insisted that the German Shepherds playing K-9 watchdogs stay in an air-conditioned van between shoots.
You're going to seriously try to rope-a-dope me? That's an old man's move.
President Benjamin Asher: I am an old man.
Mike Banning: No, you're not. But you box like one.
The intruding Gunship shoots down both planes sent to intercept it. In real life, to avoid incidents like that, one interceptor establishes visual contact with the intruder and flies beside him. The other plane flies behind the intruder to shoot him down if the first interceptor experiences hostile action.
The edited for TNT/TBS cable TV version aside from the usual language and violence edits most notably hackneys it's edit for the part where Mike (Gerard Butler) stabs Kang (Rick Yune) in the head. Instead, the viewer witnesses Mike about to stab and then it cuts straight to Kang's body ceasing to move making it unclear that Kang was stabbed let alone where.
