A chronicle of one woman's one thousand one hundred mile solo hike undertaken as a way to recover from a recent personal tragedy.
Cheryl Strayed's sister and stepfather are not portrayed in the movie.
She died a famous woman, denying her wounds, denying her wounds came from the same source as her power.
When she pitches her tent, she never stakes down the guy lines that hold the window flaps out. Not only would it be hard to get a breeze in the desert that way, a good wind would blow it down.
There are photos of the real Cheryl Strayed on her actual walk shown during the credits.
