"Proposition" centers around a teenage girl whose brother gets in a lot of trouble. She needs a large sum of money to help him out and (what a coincidence!) the very same day an older man asks her to come to his place if she wants some money. Obviously there are some sexual pleasures included. The woman finally goes to his place and listens to the man talking for a while until he finally asks her the question if she really wants that money. I have to say I was curious which decision she would make in the end, so i guess this film connected with me and was thus a success. However, at times I felt that the runtime was maybe a bit too much. They could have cut some of the unimportant stuff and kept it at 12 minutes maybe. Also I am not sure what to think of the final scene really. I could have done without that I guess. Looks like the filmmakers wanted to put in some more showiness and drama, but it wasn't really necessary. Also the movie could have ended when the screen turned black and she made her choice. Would have worked nicely too, even if my curiosity would have objected.

The filmmakers Khrul and Rosenblatt are currently working on new projects and from the talent I saw in this short film, I wonder if one of the duo will ever have a big breakthrough. The actress who played the girl was okay, the actor who played the man was pretty good. All in all, a certainly quite effective short movie. Something was missing for greatness, but it's not bad by any means and I recommend it.
