Molly owns a quaint little sweet shop. Joel works for a gigantic candy company threatening to shut her down. How they meet, fall in love, break up and get back together is hilariously recounted in this rom-com spoof.
The main plot of the story of a small independent candy store going out of business because of a corporate chain candy store is ripped off of You've Got Mail (1998), which was a remake of The Shop Around the Corner (1940).
Umm... forget it.
Molly: No, I...
Joel: C'mon, tell me.
Molly: Are you hungry?
Joel: Hungry? Try starving.
Molly: Why don't I have you over for dinner? I'll make you my world famous mac and cheese.
Molly: I like how you say 'K.
Joel: I like how you say I like how you say 'K.
When Joel is pacing outside Molly's shop, and she is trying on outfits in the back, the shop is neat and tidy, and the Kex poster on the wall is straight. When she finally comes out, in a suit of armour, the shop is trashed and the Kex poster is askew. This is explained in the bonus material deleted scenes, which shows two CSR employees trashing the shop with baseball bats.
Shot on location in New York City, which is almost like another character.
