Dick Wolf’s next two shows will stream on Netflix.
The megaproducer behind the Law & Order, FBI and Chicago franchises will executive produce a pair of true-crime documentary series — titled Homicide: New York and Homicide: Los Angeles — that will detail several notorious murder cases in the two cities. Notably, the two shows are being made outside of Wolf Entertainment’s long-time home at NBCUniversal; Wolf is teaming with Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz’s Alfred Street Industries.
Wolf and his company remain under an overall deal at NBCU, which runs through 2027.
Homicide: New York, which premieres March 20, will “bring to life five of New York’s most notorious murder cases by following the detectives and prosecutors that cracked them,” according to the show’s logline. A trailer for the series (watch it below) showcases interviews with the law enforcement officials involved in several cases as well as some re-enactment scenes.

Netflix is adding content from another TV titan to its roster of originals. Homicide: New York, a true-crime docuseries from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, is set to debut on the streamer on March 20. It will be followed by Homicide: Los Angeles later this year. Both installments consist of five episodes each.
Homicide, from Wolf Entertainment and Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz’s Alfred Street Industries, tells the stories of a city’s most notorious murder cases by following the detectives and prosecutors who cracked them.
The project predates Wolf’s current massive deal with Universal Studio Group (signed in 2020 and extended in 2023 through 2027), which includes a first-look agreement with Universal Television Alternative Studio for unscripted/docu-series.
Homicide is executive produced by Wolf, Tom Thayer, the head of the non-scripted arm of Wolf Entertainment who was instrumental in getting the project together, Lipsitz, Cutforth, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe and Adam Kassen.

During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Top Chef judge Padma Lakshmi admitted that she and the other judges have sometimes identified winners early in the competition.
“There are seasons,” Lakshmi said. “I’m not going to tell you which one, but I’m going to say it was a very recent season. But not this one!”
Casey Kriley and Jo Sharon, Co-CEOs of Magical Elves, the production company behind Top Chef, told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that while they don’t tend to guess who will win, they will often have a top four in mind – and usually end up surprised in the long run.
‘Top Chef’ producers leave the judging to the experts
“When we’re finalizing that cast, everyone has different opinions on who ultimately could take it,” Kriley said. “But we’re constantly surprised every season. Something that’s really important to...

Oxygen’s Cold Justice production crew may not be professional true crime sleuths by trade, but working on a show that uses clues and investigations to solve a cold case can awaken the detective in just about anyone.
Casey Kriley and Jo Sharon, Co-CEOs of Magical Elves said working on a series like Cold Justice is unique in the sense that their show unfolds as the investigation, led by veteran prosecutor Kelly Siegler, progresses.
Kriley asks questions as she screens the episodes. “Whenever we’re talking about a case, even sometimes I’ll see the first cut of one of the cases that we investigated and I’ll call Scott Patch, who is our showrunner in post, and say, ‘I don’t understand how this could have happened. Or why they did this or why nobody’s talking about this,” she told Showbiz Cheat Sheet.

Devil in Suburbia on ID is investigating the death of Marie Carlson, who was killed by a popular preacher James Flanders in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
In October 2011, 37-year-old Carlson was living with Pastor Flanders and his wife, Tanya Flanders, as what the pastor would later describe as a sister wife.
This polygamous relationship led to Carlson giving birth to Flanders’s baby. Not long after giving birth, Carlson disappeared and was never seen alive again.
On October 24, Carlson’s ex-husband, who lived nearby with their 8-year-old daughter, reported her missing. The police spoke to Flanders, who told them that Carlson had run out on them the week before. He implied that she had abandoned them and her baby and fled town.

Magical Elves is an unscripted powerhouse that just banked eight Emmy nominations to add to its tally of 42 overall since launching in 2001. They’re the production company behind “Nailed It!,” the addictive Netflix show where so-so bakers attempt to recreate daunting desserts, and the long-running Bravo culinary competition “Top Chef,” which is gearing up for Season 20. It’s one thing to have an unscripted hit, but it’s another thing to have a handful of series that every other company is scrambling to copy. “We really push ourselves to be first to the party, if you will,” Magical Elves co-chief executive officer Jo Sharon told TheWrap for this week’s Office With a View. She added that “Nailed It!” was “a little bit of a genre breakthrough” and that it sent “everybody else looking for their [own] ‘Nailed It!'” The show made history in 2020, when Nicole Byer became the first...

Updates earlier exclusive, with quotes:: It’s official. David Eilenberg is returning to being a buyer.
The Chief Creative Officer of ITV America is joining Roku as its Head of Originals.
ilenberg will join in April and report to Rob Holmes, VP Programming at Roku.
It comes as the streaming service has been ramping up the amount of exclusive and original content that it develops and commissions.
Last year, Roku acquired Quibi’s library of original content and launched dozens of short-form shows on The Roku Channel, including a number that never launched on the Jeffrey Katzenberg-led service. In addition, it renewed a number of shows for second seasons.
But outside of the Quibi deal, the service, which essentially began as a streaming aggregator, has plans to bolster its pipeline of original series and films even further with plans to order around 50 series and films over the next two years.

From competition series to dating shows and even some documentaries, the stream of reality TV in 2021 was endless.
You can never go wrong with veteran shows like Survivor and Big Brother. Some of the controversial ones, like Married at First Sight, Love Island, and the 90 Day Fiance franchise, are the definition of "guilty pleasures."
If you're a true crime or documentary aficionado, we have some of the best and worst of those, too.
We TV Fanatics compiled a list of the Best and Worst out of the bunch. Check it out below!
Siwa's Dance Pop Revolution (E/Peacock) - Best
It is in the "best" category mostly because we miss Dance Moms so much, which is the next best thing to new Dm episodes!
Most surprising, though, is how personable Mama Jessalynn turns out to be.
