She Comes in Spring It is rare that immediately following a war a substantial film comes to seriously reflect its effects and consequences. Kosovo is no exception, as 14 years after the war few films have been done by Kosovo filmmakers, using this medium in all its powers to convey their personal emotions and memories coming from the war. One such work is Antoneta Kastrati's film She comes in Spring, a personal story of loss, pain and suffering, told through the memory of a former Serbian soldier. Beset by her own experience, Ms. Kastrati doesn't hide behind the veil of political correctness with her film, as the story throws upon viewer in all its purity the pain and memories from the war. What contributes to the film being additionally poignant is the effective acting of Zoran Radanovich in the main role, showing the depth of guilt and pain by the main character, the perpetrator. As this film was shot in California, good art direction and costumes must be mentioned, as little difference is seen between US and Kosovo in terms of locality. This film carries no message, nor is it intentionally melodramatic in hopes of achieving an affect. In itself, it carries sorrow, as it is clear the war is still close to heart to many of Kosovo's people, the filmmaker included.
