  • I'm sorry (or maybe not) but this Film is a total waste of real time. I didn't find it humorous at all and the lines we're silly. Let's not mention the acting which was like watching kids try out for a part in a farcical movie that's not amusing at all. Not sure how it's has received so many reviews but I'm positive that it's most likely friends, family or others that we're paid to watch or begged. One thing is for sure, is that they labeled it a comedy because AFTER watching it, I laughed at how bad it was. (Three Thumbs down)
  • Great comedy that delivers more than just laughs. I was particularly impressed with the scenery. The lighting and choice of shooting locations really added to the overall effect of the film, making it beautiful and easy to watch. The characters were well-developed and relatable, which is key to making this kind of relationship comedy work. It also felt topical with the connections to the immigration debate, cyber dating, etc. The mark of a good movie is when you lose yourself in it and start imagining yourself in the situations the characters were in. Overall a great movie to watch on a date or alone on any given night. I hope to see more from these filmmakers, and I would definitely watch again.
  • Love A La Carte is sure to be a cult classic. Though untraditional in it's structure and style, the universal theme of love and commitment is well established and played out in the unique and colorful characters of the story. The cinematography is well executed throughout the film with the exception of one scene obviously shot with blue screen. If you want a tour of Arizona, and a candid look at the complications of cheating on your spouse, don't miss this film. I'm a traditionalist, so it took a bit for me to settle into the language of the film. Love A La Carte isn't a great film, but it certainly isn't a bad film either. I gave it three stars.
  • What does it mean to tie your life and finances up with another person? What is the dynamic of give in take in a marriage versus with a lover who is with you only because the two of you chose to be together for the moment? How can the easy give and take of a collaborative marriage survive one member who betrays the familial trust by denying emotional support to a spouse, or from one who seeks missing compassion outside the marriage?

This movie seeks to address these deep questions facing anyone in a relationship. These issues are not answered in the movie Love A La Carte, no single solution is right for anyone. But it gives an inspirational view of a couple that successfully negotiates the deficiencies in their marriage and happily stay together. By learning and using tools of effective communications, we see the successful incorporation of a community of choice that enhances the marital foundation of this couple.

This film has an great original soundtrack and a fun perspective on life after children. The only drawback to the movie is constant product placement for the dating web site, LoveALaCarte.com, and the occasional jab at gun toting housewives, the King of England, or the crying religious icon of a political party. For any loving relationship to succeed is an ongoing process of maintenance and interpersonal growth, and this movie is a good tool for keep the spark of love alive.

When dating, even dating a spouse, the question must always be posed, what are my needs? What are the needs of the other, and how can we collaborate to meet the two.

A fun filled witty comedy that contains explicate sexy scenes so definitely is suited towards adults. The Indie movie quality was excellent and the actors were quirky and talented. The scene is set in Arizona that follows a struggling marriage, a bored wife, and a husband having most probably, a mid-life crisis. As he surfs the net, he stumbles upon a website called 'Love A La Carte'. As he explores various options outside of his marriage, this "cheating website" seems to have all the answers.

A silly pursuit with a few laugh-out-loud moments that engages raunchy behavior in perusing various scenarios with a comical approach to realistic situations. It pokes fun at vulnerability and infidelity in rich pursuits that cuts right to the core what what marital problems can escalate too. Some people who watch 'Love A La Carte' will see the humorous side, others may get offended. I myself found it to be very entertaining.
  • I am a supporter of Indie Films and that is obvious to anyone who checks out my IMDb page. With this movie, Love A La Carte, which is a funny and entertaining film, it reminded me of an old show called Love American Style, only this installment is geared towards a more adult audience. The premise of the plot is believable, partly due to the actors and the theme. An interesting look at a problem that is as old as mankind and tackled here with a sense of flair and bountiful T&A which if nothing else will prove to make the watching experience worthwhile.

What matters to me, is this, was the film good? Well, it is entertaining and funny. Would I watch it again? Yeah, I would, while lighthearted, there is a story being told and there is a depth to the characters, especially the tough-guy biker and mechanic, played by James Ray. Ray nailed his role and makes the film work. Along with plenty of nice asstributes, sure, I'll watch it again.

Overall, It is important to support indie films, you got to give these guys a chance, we need an infusion of new talent and perspective and Tim McSpadden has done a good job here. So yeah, it's worth a viewing

Phil (Aaron Ginn-Forsberg) is a married sexually frustrated male. The romance and hence the sex has left his life. They are in a "relativity quagmire" His monogamous mechanic (James Ray) gives him sound advice which he ignores. Phil goes on a web site "Love A La Carte" and dates other women, becoming attached to Angela (Kimber Leigh) who is perfect in all regards.

About an hour into the film, we get Phil's wife view of their marriage which was a bit heavier than the first hour.

The film appears to be an evolved teenage sex comedy whereas the relationship replaces much of the nonsensical topless hard bodies. The production uses fantasy outtakes for comedy. The film takes us from these comedic moments to that of serious drama throughout the feature. Normally films are comedies and then at the end get heavy for some social redeeming value. This film breaks from the mold with mixed results.

The dialogue is laced with humorous tidbits such as fee-males. It kept the dialogue from going flat, but wasn't cause for heavy laughter.

I was able to view this film for free in exchange for an honest review.

Guide: F-bomb, sex, and nudity- but not as much as one would expect.

Briefly, and as spoiler-free as possible, Love a La Carte explores the marital bumps and bruises that often seem to arise among the daily demons of early middle age and upper middle class malaise. For some people that last part of their thirties where you think this is it, and from here on out you're just waiting to fall apart and die, arrives at exactly the same time that they have so much time and effort and money invested in their jobs, houses, and relationships that they think they really can't make any major changes. Ever again. And it's clearly awful for them, but it's also clearly a very first world problem.

This movie never loses sight of that, even while taking a surprisingly sympathetic, if mostly surreal - VERY surreal, take on it.

The visual sense of this movie is very pop art. Gorgeous, saturated colors in big bright blocks. Stunning architecture and natural scenery. And a very good-looking cast. It's also full of symbolism and metaphor that I couldn't quite translate, perhaps because I was never sure of the POV underlying the subtext. (Slight spoiler - most of the men are just awful - I could never quite tell if that was on purpose with some of them; there was also some sexism that cut a super fine line between parody and reality.)

Maybe that was the point, though. Relationships are tricky - in many cases, more so over time. Maybe the baffling parts were meant to be baffling. Sometimes the funny parts are sad or disturbing or depressing. And the endings can be arbitrary.

If you are not a fan of abrupt, weird cut scenes, you probably will not enjoy this. If you don't mind stuff that is nonlinear and a bit outside and unconventional, you should give this movie a try.

I don't know what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is a very quirky film with some definite laugh-out-loud moments.

The cast, overall, did an excellent job at portraying their characters with genuine emotion, and I was pleased to note, a certain amount of depth, as well. At times, I wanted to smack Phil (male lead character) upside the head for being an idiot, and at other times I truly felt sorry for him - in short, easily showing us the complicated, nuanced shades of a very human and flawed person. Once or twice throughout the film, the dialog seemed a bit stilted or forced, but overall, it was refreshing and original.

As an Arizonan, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the various Arizona landscapes and landmarks, and I thought that they added a realistic yet beautiful element to the film, without distracting too much from the interplay between the characters. In essence, a nice backdrop.

The film's soundtrack was a bit interesting, and as quirky as the film itself. I enjoyed some of the songs, while other songs seemed a bit over-the-top - but that could have been the intent. Some of the sound quality of the dialog was a bit off at times, and there were a couple of spots where I had to repeat the video to catch what was said, as it wasn't too clear with the level of background noise. But, overall, unlike some big-budget movies I've seen, I had little difficulty understanding or clearly hearing the dialog for 99% of the film, as none of the cast mumbled or was difficult to understand.

The opening and closing credits, I am sorry to say, were horrid. And the dialog scenes on the motorcycle and in the cars reminded me (and not in a good way) of old Dukes of Hazzard episodes, to be honest. But I also understand that filming these types of scenes requires quite a bit of money and equipment, so I'm willing to give this a pass, although I had to deduct a couple of points for the resulting lower quality.

In short, if you can overlook those few flaws, I believe you will be pleasantly entertained with this film.

    Warning: Spoilers
The opening talks about sex and has a hilarious narrative. It will make you laugh and smile. The narrative voice is perfect, just the right tone. There is nudity T&A in this movie so this is a mature movie. This is a nice cute humorous film about cheating. Phil is your average ordinary guy who is just not getting enough sex from his wife Evelyn. Well Phil thinks sex is the answer while Evelyn wants them to get closer emotionally. Phil Phil does go through a lot in his quest to have sex. He does meet all kinds of women. The actors are talented. Their emotions are brought across through words and body language. Gene Phil's mechanic is a secondary character. He though plays his role so well. His acting ability makes him stand out he gives himself a presence. The Canadian Mountie shown is silly. He is so overboard as to be utterly ridiculous. Phil's attitude as he has success seems to change. Than it changes again. The movie does pick on Canada a little to much. ( Or maybe I just notice it more because I am a Proud Canadian.) Evelyn exploring and trying to understand her marriage and Phil is a journey she goes on. It is as much fantasy as reality. The ending will leave you stunned. There are actually three different endings, you can choose the one you like best. The symbology of Evelyn picking the apple to share with Phil is a great play on Adam and Eve. There are some weird and strange things that happen throughout this movie, like seeing the planet Saturn in the sky. This movie is a fun entertaining comedy with twists that will surprise you. The movie will help you explore your own relationship.
  • A very funny, and slightly bizarre take on infidelity. I really liked Aaron Ginn-Forsberg, he was a great find and has some throwback comedic chops. Recommend this, it's definitely worth your time!
  • Mid-life woes and relationships. Not an easy subject to get laughs from. But this film finds them. It also mines very genuine, thoughtful moments... and then can take enjoyable, surreal turns. A little bit of everything, but it all works! It's a diverse and really well done movie. I found myself laughing and yet relating to the characters. Definitely a film I would recommend.
  • Tim McSpadden pens and directs Love A La Carte, a bodily fluids-caked gem of a comedy in which marital boredom is best battled by observing a strict diet of extramarital sex.

Aaron Ginn-Forsberg is Phil. He's got a cool house and his wife is easy on the eyes. But as a couple, they're sexually spent to the point where he's faking his own orgasms. So he's off getting off somewhere else, and constantly. Now and then, a English-accented narrator observes Phil in voiceover mode, and no differently than any other alpha beast observed on safari.

But don't let the shrewdly-conceived surrealistic cutaways and awesome bro-dialect fool you: This isn't just a guy flick. In fact there's little doubt that Love A La Carte is, ironically, a film best served to the couple in acknowledged mid-life crisis who both know all too well how real this story gets for many. So bring your disenchanted spouse to the couch for this one, and after 90 minutes of simultaneously elevated and low-brow humor layered over the top of some masterful observational comedy, you might just reconnect and get laid.
  • LOVE A LA CARTE is a quirky, creative and a great indie sex comedy! I really loved how this film examined issues related to sex and relationships, monogomy vs. single life, etc... It was a lot of fun, but it also didn't shy away from sensitive stuff. It also took some creative risks, even gets a bit surreal in moments. Also, there's a ton of sex, so that's awesome too and very surprising in an indie! If you're looking for a fun sexy comedic romp you should definitely see it!

I'm not usually a fan of 'sex comedies', but after being recommended to watch this, I'm glad I did. It took me a little bit to get into the film, as the style is so unlike anything else - but once I settled in, it was a fun, often hilarious ride into the world of marriage, lust, infidelity and love. And reflecting on the film now, I think the style the filmmakers chose is one of it's best assets - it certainly makes the film, which touches on a number of serious issues, very easy to digest and very memorable. Kudos must go to all the actors as well, who took on a lot for low-budget indie (sex scenes etc), and did a wonderful job
  • A funny movie chock full of (tongue in cheek) sex with a lot to say. Loved it. Interesting camera angles, seriously inventive. A new voice in town! The two lead actors are terrific. Both gorgeous and sexy in a very real way. If you're looking for something unusual, this is a good bet.
  • I really enjoyed this film! As an Indie filmmaker fan, I was impressed by this by this Indie film's innovative story telling via camera work and editing. The creative cut-ins kept my attention, while providing a humorous way to move the story forward in both an entertaining way and at a nice brisk pace.

The locations are amazing and the cinematography excellent! The writing was witty and told the tale of middle age angst and the confused state of, "is this really all there is to supposed wedded bliss?", in a lighthearted manner (that I believe serves best to stretch people's perceptions of such a serious subject).

There's some great acting by the cast! The male leads were excellent and likable somehow even when being a jerk -- while all the women's performances were strong memorable and relate-able.

The best buddy mechanic offers sage advice to Phil, the philandering husband -- but also leads the viewer to ask themselves more questions as to how he really fits into the picture. What's the wife really up to? What kind of relationships do the married but unfaithful women really have to lead them to Phil? Is Phil going to grow in any way other than in his trousers? Watch the film and all these questions will be answered! A sex comedy that's just plain fun and certainly worth a watch!
  • A teen sex comedy for the 40-something mid-life crisis generation! We've all wondered whether the grass is greener on the other side of the valley. Here's a cautionary tale that muses on this question to hilarious effect. Recommended.
  • Love a la Carte is a comedy about a married couple whose relationship is on the rocks. The husband, Phil, decides to turn to a new dating website to satisfy his sexual desire, juggling up to 4 extramarital relationships at once, but we suspect that it can't last or leave him truly fulfilled.

Love a la Carte is a raunchy, irreverent, and at times surreal comedy. The film is not for the faint of heart, but for those who appreciate a raunchy sex comedy that doesn't hold back -- like me -- Love a la Carte is a lot of fun. When I'm watching independent films, I'm not necessarily looking for big budget polish -- that's what Hollywood movies are for -- rather, I look for films with a unique voice and story and this film definitely has that. I'd highly recommend Love a la Carte to anyone looking for a fun and raunchy indie comedy.
  • The style of this film is captivating and Kim Leigh was on-point. A take on the mid-life crisis in a surreal pop-art sense. The cast is gorgeous to look at and the humor ranges from dark at times to laugh out loud funny. Well balanced and excellent auteur-piece!
  • There are plenty of distasteful and raunchy sex comedies out there, but Love A La Carte - a film about a married couple trying to navigate their fading love life after years together - is not one of them. Instead, filmmaker Tim McSpadden offers a quirky, offbeat and yes, sexy comedy that asks some intriguing questions and finds humor where you might not expect it, often through the use of intense irony and sarcasm. It's a tough film to compare to anything else, as it honestly breaks the mold with its unique pseudo-mockumentary style. Overall, it takes some massive risks through its bawdy storytelling, but its so self aware that it just plain works.
  • Loved this movie!!! Indie films are often hamstrung by poor production value that makes the film look cheap but here the low budget aspect is part of it's appeal creating a very fun style that doesn't take itself too seriously and seem more like a creative choice by the director than a production that just didn't have enough dough to make a real film. Comedies are even harder to pull off in the indie world and here again the film does not disappoint. My girlfriend and I had several good belly laughs throughout the film and just as many uncomfortable moments as the film also delivers some serious knowledge bombs about dating in our modern world. Though crass and sometimes very silly (in a very good way) the film deals with some very heavy material that makes one reflect upon their own relationships. The script is very well written, the narrative strong, and the performances were solid. Kudos to the team that made this film with it's completely irreverent and smart dialogue that is not concerned with dealing with uncomfortable truths about the sexes and not concerned about offending. This film is a throwback to the bygone days where comedies were allowed to be funny. Love a La Carte was made at the tail end of that bygone era way back in 2014. Kudos to the director for going where you're not supposed to go anymore!
  • This was a very fun filled comedy. I love the fact that it's an independent but didn't look like it. The production value for this movie was through the roof. Great work
  • This was an unexpected good time! The film definitely took some big risks but they pay off! Original and daring, this story surprised me in a good way-- you think you know what it's going to be about, but are then pleasantly surprised at the turns this story takes! It has a more serious tone which is really sweet and keeps you watching. Definitely recommend!

This an interesting Indie film. Had some funny parts and some really wild scenes. I would recommend it for guys in their 30s or 40s.
