  • Watched this because it's the first Filipino offering by Amazon Prime and it was Jun Lana, after all. I guess I hoped too much.

Over the top but filled with fillers. There was an attempt to be larger than life like Great Gatsby and Orient Express, but doesn't make it.

Even if extravagant, things should still make sense.

Everything has to be explained, but it's still not enough - this shows that the story is not well-thought out.

Characters are one dimensional. Eugene and Pokwang did great but the rest of them acted like everything's a joke. Comedic quips fall flat. Only the curses land right lol. Some of them can disappear and it won't change a thing

This was Murder at the Orient Express but not as well executed. It's a pain to watch. I forced myself to finish watching because I was hoping something might give justice to the story. Disappointed.
  • Plot sounds and looks original. Only if you've not seen movies with an ensemble cast who gather together as possible suspects for the murder of a rich patriarch. Sounds like the comedy mystery, critically acclaimed original movie "Knives Out". I guess the producers of this movie got inspired after watching it they decided to make a Filipino version "Knives Out". Very original. Just when the Philippine movie industry needed the push to jumpstart its resurgence, they come up with a lame copy of a whodunnit. That's why I can't even bring myself to finish the movie. Kudos though that Prime is carrying this.
  • It's definitely a breath of fresh air to get to see this kind of Filipino movie. Part of their marketing is that this is the first AmazonPrime-produced filipino movie and i'd say it really did not disappoint. I would not say this is original since It's taking pages off Agatha Christie's novels - i observed touches of 'Ten Little Indians' (And Then There Were None), 'ABC Murder'. 'Black Coffee' and 'Murder on the Orient Express'. But since Christie's novels aren't really big here in Asia it would pass to be something new for Filipinos. Execution and script is great - It embodied local culture discussing the reality in a life of a mistress, female empowerment and self-respect. Concept is well executed and the satirical aspects were timely. Cinematography is great and I think the production team did a great job selecting the actor/actresses. Kudos to all the 'mistresses' as they were all brilliant in their own way. I just think it would have been better if each of the mistresses' backstory (or murder motive) were highlighted -as that would have added to the mystery theme. It would have been generic had it not been for the comedic antics and sequences. It was a fun movie overall and definitely above average. Thumbs up to all the cast and crew for a well-delivered, enjoyable 2 hours.
  • First of all, I want to start by talking about the production values. The film is visually stunning, with luxurious sets and beautiful costumes that bring the world of the movie to life. The attention to detail in each of the mistresses' looks is particularly impressive, giving us a sense of their individual personalities. I think the production design team has done an excellent job.

Moving on to the acting, I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed. The film features a diverse cast, with some familiar faces that bring a lot of talent to the table. The acting in the film ranges from comedic to dramatic, and I think the balance between the two is just right. Each of the actors does a great job of bringing their characters to life, and I was really able to get a sense of who each mistress was.

One of the standout features of the film is its use of humor. The film is marketed as a comedy, and it definitely delivers in that regard. The humor is well-balanced and there are plenty of laughs to be had throughout the movie. Some of the jokes are hit or miss, but I think the humor is stronger overall than what we saw in the trailer.

In addition to the humor, there's also a bit of mystery and suspense in the film. The ten mistresses are all competing to become the billionaire's legal wife, but there's more to the story than just that. I don't wanna be a spoiler. I won't give anything away, but let's just say that things don't always go as planned. I think this element of the story is what keeps audiences engaged and invested in the film, and I was definitely on the edge of my seat during some parts.

Now, I want to talk about the pacing. The film is a little slow in certain parts, but I think that's to be expected given the number of characters we have to keep track of. I found myself getting a little bored in some parts, but the humor and the suspense kept me interested overall.

In conclusion, I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed by "Ten Little Mistresses". The production values are top-notch, the acting is great, the humor is well-balanced, and there's enough mystery and suspense to keep audiences engaged. While the pacing is a little slow in parts, I think that's to be expected given the number of characters we have to keep track of. If you're looking for a fun comedy with a bit of mystery and suspense, I'd definitely recommend "Ten Little Mistresses".
  • Upon watching the trailer, I was unamused. However, I still had a good feeling about the movie. So, I gave it a try. As I was watching the movie, I am starting to get hooked. The acting are unlike others. I really loved it!! There are so many scenes I had hard time containing my laughter. The storyline and the denouement is nothing of expectation! So, I loved how my "oh this storyline/outcome is typical" thinking is constantly challenged by the movie. Kudos to the actors and actresses. They are SO good at acting! Great job for the director/s and writers! Very very nice movie! I hope more movies like this are to come. All the best for the makers of this movie, and everyone else who is involved.
