"Scotland is clutched in the grip of a mighty hand... Now, we'll set her free!" Screen Media Films has just released another official Us trailer for the Scottish historical action drama Robert the Bruce, made by Australian director Richard Gray. Robert the Bruce is a hard-hitting historical epic covering the turbulent time after William Wallace's victories depicted in Braveheart. This originally premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival last year - which is when we featured the first UK trailer. Angus Macfadyen stars (playing the same role he played in Braveheart), joined by a big cast with Jared Harris, Zach McGowan, Daniel Portman, Emma Kenney, Melora Walters, Anna Hutchison, Talitha Eliana Bateman, Patrick Fugit, Gabriel Bateman, and Kevin McNally. The film also features original music from Scottish national treasure Lulu. This looks like it might be good, or might very boring, and they're definitely playing off of "Game of Thrones" being over.

Sometimes when you buy a home, you don't realize what you've purchased until you start peeling away its facade to see what it truly is, and for the Day family in the new thriller Broken Ghost, that truth is something sinister that could tear their already fractured family apart. With Broken Ghost out now on digital and VOD platforms from Film Mode Entertainment, we caught up with co-star Scottie Thompson to discuss filming in the gorgeous scenery of Montana, reuniting with director Richard Gray, and exploring the movie's domestic drama and supernatural scares.
Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us, and congratulations on Broken Ghost! How did this film first come onto your radar, and what attracted you to playing the role of Samantha Day?
Scottie Thompson: Thank you for supporting the film! So glad to share this project—which is definitely a passion project—with the world.

Jason Momoa is set to make his big debut as Aquaman in Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” next year, but before we see the actor as the DC Comics superhero fans can see him as a ruthless thug in “Sugar Mountain.”
The thriller centers around two brothers, deep in debt with Momoa, who fake a disappearance in the wilderness so they’ll have a great survival story to sell. Their hoax quickly turns sour when their plan puts their lives at risk.

There have been lip syncs and covers of "Shake It Off," but the song is so catchy that even Justin Long can't help but hum along, no matter where he is.
The Lookalike actor heard the song at a recent Knicks game, and as he told HuffPost Live, "It's one of those songs that really gets in your head, really crawls in there."

A cast can go a long way towards making a mediocre movie watchable, and while it’s always best to have a script and direction to match sometimes the best you can hope for is a parade of familiar, engaging and talented faces. Several such faces appear in the overly busy and cluttered new film, The Lookalike, and — wait for it — they make this mediocre movie watchable. A pair of drug dealing/club owning crime bosses (Steven Bauer, John Corbett) have a deal with a major supplier (John Savage) to provide him with a particular girl (Gillian Jacobs) for a night of expensive fornication in exchange for his drug business. When she dies in a freak chandelier accident they’re forced to find a passable substitute, and through a series of convenient coincidences involving their bartender Joe (Jerry O’Connell) and his brother Holt (Justin Long) they settle on a young woman named Lacey (Jacobs). Also along...

...and just like that, Justin Long seems to be everywhere at the moment. The actor starred in Kevin Smith's "Tusk," he's got the crime/comedy/thriller "The Lookalike" coming up (trailer and clips here), and "Comet" is coming into orbit. And it's going to be one you'll want to track down. Co-starring Emmy Rossum, and written and directed by Sam Esmail, this fantastical romance follows a six year relationship between Dell (Long) and Kimberly (Rossum), through their various ups and downs. The trick is that "Comet" isn't structured in a linear fashion and has more than few creative flourishes, but it all works quite well. As Katie Walsh wrote in her review out of the L.A. Film Festival, the movie features "career-best performances from Long and Rossum, and a juicy script that bravely dives into the darkest parts of breaking up and making up." "Comet" opens on December 5th.

Okay, here's another random movie seemingly coming out of nowhere, featuring some people we like, that is hopefully better than it looks. The trailer and a couple of clips (via Indiewire) have arrived for the crime thriller "The Lookalike," and we'll let you make the judgment call about quality for yourself. Starring Justin Long, John Corbett, Gillian Jacobs, Jerry O’Connell, Gina Gershon, Scottie Thompson, and Luís Guzman, and directed by Richard Gray, the movie centers around a drug lord whose two goons accidentally kill his favorite gal and have to find a replacement. It's a journey that sees no shortage of wacky characters getting into the mix. This looks far more serious than the premise suggests, while also feeling like it was cut the from the same cloth as every sub "Pulp Fiction" knock off from the '90s. "The Lookalike" opens on in theaters and on VOD on November 7th.

After donning tusks for Kevin Smith, Justin Long is back in the saddle – but this time he won’t be morphing into anyone or anything else. For Robert Gray’s indie thriller The Lookalike, that responsibility lands firmly on Gillian Jacobs’ shoulders.
In what sounds like a brilliant matrix of character, plot and nuttiness, the story follows a couple of gangsters (Jerry O’Connell and John Corbett) who are keen for a deal to go through with crime boss, William Spinks. When the object of his desire, Sadie, is killed, his goons enlist an aspiring actress (Jacobs) via an addict (Long) to fool Spinks and ensure the masterplan goes off without a hitch. Also along for the ride are Scottie Thompson, Gina Gershon, Luiz Guzman and Steven Bauer.
Judging by that synopsis alone, the flick has all the makings of a cult classic right off the bat. As is often...

Audition is one crazy Japanese film. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a you need to experience to believe. It's based on the 1997 novel by Ryu Murakami, and the story follows "a lonely widower who gets more than he bargains for when he puts out a fake casting call to find a new girlfriend." The events that follow are unbelievably insane!
The original film was directed by Takashi Miike, and it has gained quite a large cult following since its release in 1999. The cult horror classic Audition, Takashi Miike’s breakout film from 1999, is getting the Hollywood treatment with an English language remake planned to shoot this fall.
Deadline reported Friday that the remake will be produced by Mario Kassar (Terminator, Rambo) and directed by Richard Gray (the upcoming The Lookalike and Sugar Mountain).
Miike’s film, based on a novel by Ryu Murakami, is about a man who puts out a casting call for a new girlfriend and finds the woman he selects is not all she appears. This adaptation falls into that nebulous territory of not strictly being a remake of the Japanese film but a new adaptation of Murakami’s story with an American setting.
And this of course is hardly the first cult horror film to fall under Hollywood’s purview. Last year the Spike Lee directed Oldboy, a remake of a South Korean film with just as many cringe-worthy moments,...

After the universal praise from critics and audiences of last year’s Oldboy, it was only a matter of time before someone attempted to remake Audition. Late Friday afternoon, Deadline reported that Ryu Murakami’s novel, made infamous by Takashi Miike’s 1999 film, would indeed be getting a Hollywood adaptation.

Are mainstream American audiences ready for the deeply unsettling creations of Murakami Ryu? Terminator, Basic Instinct and Rambo exec producer Mario Kassar certainly hopes so with Deadline breaking word yesterday that he has teamed with The Lookalike director Richard Gray for an English language adaptation of Murakami's Audition. Already used as the source material for Miike Takashi's breakthrough film of the same name, Audition tells the story of a single middle aged man who stages a series of false auditions for a non existent film in order to meet women and get back in the dating game. It works, too, insofar as he finds himself in a relationship in relatively short order. The downside, of course, is that the woman he ends up with is...

Not because the 1997 novel by Ryu Murakami isn’t worthy of adapting, and not because Takashi Miike’s 1999 film version isn’t engaging – but because both tellings of the horrifying tale are so specific to their time.
That doesn’t seem to prevent producer Mario Kassar (Terminator, Rambo, Basic Instinct) from putting together an update, however. This new version will return to the source novel, but move the setting from Japan to the Us. With Richard Gray (The Lookalike) attached to write and direct, the story looks set to remain broadly faithful to the action of the book. In it, a widower agrees to his filmmaker friend arranging fake auditions to find the bereaved man a new girlfriend, as part of a ‘reality’ project. When the widower falls...

Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long have been dating since August 2013, but they didn't walk their first red carpet together until Tuesday night. At the opening of Neil Patrick Harris's Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in NYC, the couple kept close, holding hands, hugging, and stealing glances as they headed into the show. The two are no strangers to Pda - they have been spotted walking her dog, Finn, while hand in hand and stealing kisses around the Big Apple. Both are keeping busy with a handful of projects under their belts, too. Next up, Amanda has A Million Ways to Die in the West with Neil, Seth MacFarlane, and Charlize Theron, and Justin costars with Community's Gillian Jacobs in The Lookalike.

A new company has launched into the Australian film distribution sector charging producers a flat fee for its service.
The model varies from a typical film distribution company which takes a percentage of box office revenue.
The Melbourne-based Backlot Studios is led by directors Tony Ianiro and Mark D’Angelo, both most recently of Paramount Pictures.
The company’s first film will be Richard Gray’s Aussie Rules-based film Blinder. It opens on March 7.
D’Angelo told Encore: “Part of our service is to liase with the producers and work with them as to how wide a film should go. Our job is to assess everything on a case by case basis. We can move a bit more fluidly.
Blinder was originally to be distributed this month through Jump Street Films but was dropped after Jump Street formed an exclusive distribution deal with Us-based multi-purpose film company Cargo Entertainment.
