Damon is a 16 year-old hip-hop loving hockey star who is turning heads despite the limitations of an old duct-taped pair of skates his late father gave him two seasons ago. As he's preparing for the tryout of a lifetime, Damon is given a brand new pair of skates by a trusted adult who crosses a line no adult should ever cross with a child. When the time comes to lace up, Damon must decide if his dignity is too high a price to pay for his dream.
16 year-old Damon Bishop possesses one love greater than the hip hop music that streams incessantly form his headphones: the game of hockey. His singular dream of one day playing in the NHL as never been deterred by the harsh realities of the life he's come to know. What his family lacks in monetary resources Damon makes up for in commitment to his dream. He finds himself one step closer when he receives an invitation to try out for the city's top tier hockey organization. With limited resources at his disposal, Damon figures he'll have to make do on a weathered pair of skates held together with duct tape and the deep crimson laces his late father insisted upon - that is until a trusted coach gifts him a brand new pair of skates he could only dream of. But like a hockey game lost to a sudden death goal, Damon's trust suffers a devastating end when that same adult abuses him sexually. When the time comes to lace up, Damon makes a choice that reveals the true heart of a hero who is clinging to dignity in the face of lost innocence.
