Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker

Andor Creator Tony Gilroy Has A Theory About Why Marvel Movies Fail [Exclusive]
Image
If there's anything linking "Star Wars" and the Marvel Cinematic Universe together, it might be the malleable filmmaking process for any given movie or show. The superhero franchise has become renowned for entering into production without a finished script on a routine basis, as anyone who watched "Captain America: Brave New World" can attest. Meanwhile, that galaxy far, far away has encountered similar challenges in recent years; there's a reason why there hasn't been a single "Star Wars" movie in theaters since the debacle of "Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Rise of Skywalker," after all.

"Andor" was meant to be a completely different change of pace, and season 2 certainly lived up to those expectations ... but even this almost universally-acclaimed series had to undergo its own growing pains in order to transform into this final, polished achievement. During a recent zoom interview with /Film's Ben Pearson, creator Tony Gilroy found...

How John Boyega Really Feels About A Kylo Ren & Rey Romance In Star Wars
Image
There are a lot of controversial choices made throughout the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, but one that fans bicker about to this day is the Reylo romance. In "Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Rise of Skywalker," Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) finally share a kiss, seemingly clarifying that the growing connection between them throughout "Episode VIII -- The Last Jedi" was indeed a romantic one. Anti-Reylo fans were pissed, but luckily(?) Kylo died not long after, so the whole debate was mostly rendered moot. Still, some fans think it was in poor taste to depict a romance between our hero and Kylo Ren, who is basically Space Hitler as far as this universe is concerned.

During the Q&a section of a panel at the 2025 Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (via Entertainment Weekly), Finn actor John Boyega shared his thoughts on the issue. "I mean, look, ladies...

Andor Season 2 Almost Featured A Cameo From A Major Star Wars Character
Image
"Andor" might be officially over, but the reactions, revelations, and discussions surrounding the most acclaimed live-action "Star Wars" series ever certainly aren't going anywhere anytime soon. After spending years getting to know Diego Luna's Cassian Andor with far more subtlety and nuance than "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" ever had time for, we now know exactly what made him into the hardened Rebel operative we saw in the 2016 movie. Yet, even this sprawling, 12-episode final season had quite a few surprises up its sleeve -- not all of which ultimately made the final cut.

Creator and writer Tony Gilroy has been making the press rounds lately (including a recent conversation with /Film's very own Ben Pearson), and in one particular interview, he opened up about his original plans for a major original trilogy cameo that was simply not to be. The timeline of "Andor" allowed quite a few...

Jordan Seeks To Entice International Productions With Bolstered 45% Cash Rebate
Image
Jordan’s Royal Film Commission has boosted its cash rebate for international film and TV production to 45%, as part of a bolstered offering of film and TV production incentives, unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday

The new package of incentives, which was approved by the Jordanian cabinet on Sunday, aims to support the local film industry at the same time as bolstering Jordan’s position as a destination for international film and TV productions.

With its world heritage sites such as Petra and stunning desert landscapes, which include Wadi Rum, Jordan has worked hard to establish itself as shooting destination over the past two decades with productions touching down in the territory including Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Dune 2, JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise Of Skywalker, and Guy Richie’s Aladdin.

Instability in the region, in the wake of the October 7, 2023 attacks on...

‘I’m just hoping Daisy gets that chance to shine’: John Boyega speaks out on Star Wars: New Jedi Order
John Boyega is "hoping Daisy [Ridley] gets that chance to shine" in ‘Star Wars: New Jedi Order’.The 33-year-old actor appeared opposite Ridley, also 33, from 2015’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens’ to ‘Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker’ as Resistance hero Finn, and has now revealed he hopes his former co-star will get the opportunity to impress as Rey Skywalker "in a franchise that’s finally hers" through ‘New Jedi Order’.During an appearance on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, Boyega said: "It made sense to expand the franchise in that way. "I'm just looking forward, first of all to see if it's real, because we have had a few ‘Star Wars’ announcements - you know, in development, they can't quite get it done. "I'm just hoping that Daisy gets that chance to shine in a franchise that's finally hers, as a Jedi that's fully qualified,...

10 Celebrities You Forgot Had Cameos in Famous Movies
Image
Ever rewatched a movie and spotted a familiar face for a second that you completely forgot or completely ignored because you hadn’t even noticed them earlier? Well, just as a long cameo contributes to the story of the movie, sometimes these unnoticeable cameos can also contribute by becoming a topic of discussion later, making us rewatch the movies to spot the celebs.

Cameos are often like hidden Easter eggs, and sometimes they can uplift the mood of viewers if they are carefully dropped at some dull moments of the movies. Sometimes, even Hollywood’s A-listers pop up in roles so subtly or in a disguise that fans completely forget they were there, especially when so much is happening on the screen. Let’s take a look at some of these cameos that people almost forgot over the years.

Hayden Christensen’s Iconic Star Wars Role Almost Went to a '90s Teen Idol: 'What a Dream That Would’ve Been'"
Image
Shooter star Ryan Phillippe talks losing out on a major Star Warsrole to Hayden Christensen.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Phillippe recently opened up about losing out on the role of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones due to being considered too old for the role at the age of 29. "Being a kid born in the '70s, I was like, 'What a dream that would've been.' But I think things happen for a reason, and it's easy to make peace with that."

"Part of what we have to develop as actors is that thick skin that comes along with rejection or maybe things not going the way you wanted in a particular project or potential job," Phillippe added. "There’s an element of being able to let go and release and not spend too much time thinking about those things." Although Phillippe never made...

"A Franchise That's Finally Hers": John Boyega Addresses Daisy Ridley's Star Wars Return & New Jedi Order Movie
Image
Finn actor John Boyega recently revealed that he is very hopeful about Rey's upcoming Star Wars movie, rumored to be titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order. New Jedi Order is one of several upcoming Star Wars movies, although doubts about the progress and the certainty of the project remain, especially after the Star Wars Celebration 2025 reveals shared little in the way of updates about the movie. At present, it does seem as though the movie is still in development, but announcements like Star Wars: Starfightermay mean it's been pushed to the background for now.

Nevertheless, many remain excited about New Jedi Order, including, evidently, Finn actor John Boyega. In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Boyega shared:

"I miss Daisy, I haven't seen Daisy face-to-face in a minute... I found out [about Daisy's return] online. Being a genuine fan, I'm online, I watch reaction videos, I'm on the subscriber lists.

An Upcoming Star Wars Book Can Begin The Redemption Of The Sequel Trilogy Era
Image
Nearly six years following the release of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," Lucasfilm has mostly avoided exploring the polarizing Sequel Trilogy era. Every possible discussion — both healthy and unhealthy — regarding the pros and cons of J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson's contributions to the Skywalker Saga remains some of the more exhausting discourses within geek culture, and to re-litigate these debates would be beating a dead tauntaun. However, the aspect of the Sequel Trilogy that fans can agree upon is that Finn (John Boyega) was wasted.

Following his phenomenal introduction in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as the male lead hero, Finn's storyline was subject to a bad game of telephone between Rian Johnson and J.J. Abrams, both of whom had differing visions for where the character's development should go. John Boyega has been vocal about his frustration regarding Finn's diminishing character trajectory, and what is particularly ironic...

Eternity has a price in the newly released trailer for The Old Guard 2
Image
After Netflix released a batch of preview images from the Charlize Theron action sequel The Old Guard 2 a couple of weeks ago, the streamer now unveils the new trailer and one-sheet for the upcoming film. The Old Guard 2 is due to hit streaming on July 2. The trailer looks pretty nifty, with Theron’s now mortal Andy taking on The Bride herself, Uma Thurman, in a cool-looking sword fight!

Based on a graphic novel series created by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández, The Old Guard was scripted by Rucka and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. The film introduced viewers to a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die who have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. When the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile, the newest soldier to join their ranks,...

‘Adolescence’s Writer Is Co-Writing Sam Mendes’ Beatles Movies
Image
Sam Mendes’ ambitious quartet of The Beatles biopics has just added a major creative force behind the scenes. While CinemaCon made headlines last month by confirming the all-star cast — Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison — the question remained: who’s writing them?

It's now been confirmed that Jack Thorne, the Emmy-winning writer behind Netflix’s hit limited series Adolescence, has joined the writing team for the Beatles saga, alongside Jez Butterworth and Peter Straughan (Conclave).

And yes, this project is set to be a true experiment. All four films — each telling the Beatles’ story from a different member’s perspective — will roll out weekly in April 2028, making use of all four Fridays that month. Mendes, producing via Neal Street Productions with Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor, is crafting what might be the most ambitious rock...

Natalie Portman Reveals Her Pitch For A Star Wars Return, & I Love It
Image
Padmé Amidalaactress Natalie Portman has the perfect pitch for her Star Warsreturn, and I genuinely hope it happens. Padmé is absolutely one of Star Wars' best characters, and throughout her appearances in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, she proved how fierce, intelligent, and strong she really was. Sadly, that came to an end in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith with Padmé's death, but that hasn't stopped audiences from wanting Portman's return—and she may have the perfect way to do it.

During an interview with the UK's The One Show, Natalie Portman explained that, if Padmé were to return, she'd want her to come back "With a lightsaber. I think she'd have to be a Jedi. Somehow, she was brought back from the dead; that would be exciting." While that seems unlikely to really happen, it's such a fun idea, and it's thrilling to know...

Matthew Wood To Voice H.E.R.B.I.E. In Marvel’s ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’

One key character in The Fantastic Four: First Steps universe found its voice in sound editor and voice actor Matthew Wood.

“He’s absolutely as important and as alive as any other member of the cast,” the filmmaker told Empire about H.E.R.B.I.E. “He’s sometimes a slightly put-upon robot, but he is definitely a member of the family. He’s just so charming and adorable.”

Shakman noted that H.E.R.B.I.E. is “Reed’s right hand in the lab, capable of assisting him on any sort of experiment, always by his side whether in New York City or out in space.”

“He’s charming, he’s funny — but he also will break your heart,” Shakman added. “Which...

Where to Stream Every ‘Star Wars’ Movie
Image
Another Star Wars Day is upon us and that means fans of the films are looking for one thing: where every single “Star Wars” movie can be streamed online, preferably as easily and swiftly as possible.

The short answer is Disney+. Every “Star Wars” film and TV series is available on the streamer for subscribers.

When “Episode IV: A New Hope” was released, filmmaker George Lucas told audiences the story was being told out of order. With the addition of prequels and sequels, this admission has fostered a discussion about when and how the movies should be enjoyed.

The order in which fans should watch the “Star Wars” movies is hotly debated to this day, but many agree that a chronological viewing is the best way forward. This would mean watching the movies as follows:

“Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones...

Shawn Levy recently revealed how his experience as a director and executive producer on Stranger Things helped him with his newest directorial project, Star Wars: Starfighter. The sci-fi adventure movie was officially announced at the recent Star Wars Celebration in Japan.

In an interview with Variety, Levy shared that working on Stranger Things for a long time taught him how to keep quiet about major secrets, which has been a beneficial skill for him during the development of his Star Wars movie. "Stranger Things taught me to keep my mouth shut," he said. "So I'm really grateful for that because I kept the Ryan Gosling news and the title and release date of my Star Wars movie pretty damn quiet for a long time. So I'm quite proud of myself and grateful to Stranger Things for making me shut my mouth."

Ian McDiarmid on backlash towards return of Palpatine in The Rise of Skywalker
Ian McDiarmid
Ian McDiarmid is a cherished figure in the Star Wars universe, but even he wasn’t immune to the criticism surrounding the return of Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Long presumed dead after being cast into a reactor shaft by Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi, Palpatine’s sudden reappearance—along with the explanation that he had been orchestrating events from the shadows—sparked widespread debate among fans.

While speaking with Variety, McDiarmid addressed the backlash. “Well, there’s always something, isn’t there? I don’t read that stuff and I’m not online. So it’ll only reach me if someone mentions it. I thought there might be a bit of a fuss about bringing him back,” he said. “But as I said, mine and Palpatine’s logic was entirely reasonable. This man who was horribly maimed thought maybe one day it might happen to him,...

Palpatine Actor Reveals Steven Spielberg's Perfect First Reaction to His Star Wars Performance

None other than Steven Spielberg gave Ian McDiarmid his seal of approval for making Star Wars' Emperor feel genuinely evil.

Speaking with Variety ahead of Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith's twentieth anniversary, McDiarmid reflected on his legacy playing Emperor Palpatine and having the opportunity to expand upon his Return of the Jedi role in the prequel trilogy. On replacing the late Clive Revill as Palpatine's voice, he said, "I thought if Clive knew what that creature had become or what he looked like, he would be doing something along the lines of what I was doing. So I continued to do my little voice like that; George didn't say stop, and neither did Richard." While recording the Adr for his performance, McDiarmid happened to meet director Steven Spielberg and future Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy -- then co-founder of Spielberg's production company Amblin Entertainment -- recalling,...

Not only is that the best result for the final weekend of April since the end of Covid, but it’s also the fourth best overall after Avengers weekends 2019 ($402M) and 2018 ($313.9M) and 2011, when Universal’s Fast Five drove the Friday-Sunday period to $158M.

The industry is jumping up and down. We caught up with AMC CEO Adam Aron last night at the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award for Francis Ford Coppola and he’s over the moon about how turnstiles are clicking, seeing April upticks in overall revenues and concessions. There’s a sense out there that the box office is finally on a roll.

The trick is, major studios, not having us lapse back into famine. When Marvel Studios/Disney’s Thunderbolts* hit Nrg tracking three weeks ago, it was forecasted at $70M.

Star Wars Star Defends Controversial Comeback in The Rise of Skywalker
Image
Ian McDiarmid has defended his controversial return as Emperor Palpatine (a.k.a. Darth Sidious) in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. McDiarmid reprised his role even after Palpatine was seemingly killed in 1983's Return of the Jedi.

Director J. J. Abrams made the controversial decision in the ninth Star Wars film to resurrect Palpatine for a showdown with his granddaughter Rey (Daisy Ridley). Fans were critical of Abrams' creative decision, especially as the opening crawl of The Rise of Skywalker matter of factly announced that the galaxy had simply heard "a threat of revenge in the sinister voice of the late Emperor Palpatine."

Star Wars Legend Addresses Controversial Return of Emperor Palpatine

Speaking to Variety, McDiarmid admitted that he'd never expected to return to Star Wars after the Emperor's apparent death in Return of the Jedi.

"I mean, I thought he was killed," he admitted. "So when I got...

Every ‘Star Wars’ Movie and Show From the Disney Era Ranked

When it comes to Star Wars, everyone has an opinion.

Before Disney purchased the rights to the franchise, it really felt like fans might never see live-action offerings again. But the House of Mouse swooped in, for better or worse, and now we’re all swimming in an ocean of new content from a galaxy far, far away.

Whether it’s the Disney+ shows that are your bread and butter, or you’re one of the fans who think Disney has murdered the very fabric of Star Wars with every new addition, we all love to fit our opinions in a concise ranking. This is how the Disney-era of Star Wars shakes out for me.

Ranking All 12 Star Wars Movies from Worst to Best
Image
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars turned the film world on its head, becoming a cultural behemoth like no other. What began as a farm boy’s space odyssey has spawned trilogies, spin-offs, and enough lightsabers to fill a Sarlacc pit.

But with so many movies in the mix, the biggest debate among fans isn’t about the Force or whether Ewoks are adorable or frightening—it’s which Star Wars film reigns supreme. And now, we’re diving into the ultimate battle of rankings. The sequels? Still polarizing. The prequels? Surprisingly aged like fine blue milk. And the stand-alone adventures? Well, there’s at least one gem that stands out.

But here’s the twist: not every Star Wars movie here is canon. Why? Because some of the non-canonical projects outshine their official counterparts. So, sit back and prepare for a journey through...

'It Was Good to Tease It': John Boyega Confirms What Star Wars Fans Suspected of Finn in Sequel Trilogy
Image
The Rise of Skywalker hinted Finn had Force powers, or at least was Force-sensitive. John Boyega said he filmed a (scrapped) scene that fulfilled his hero's journey in the movie.

Finn was a Jedi in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, or he would have been if his alternate storyline had made it into the movies. Per Popverse, John Boyega said one scene in The Rise of Skywalker almost confirmed this: in the theatrical cut, Finn almost told Rey something before they were swallowed by quicksand on Pasaana. "I mean, I did try to tell Rey before I went down. There was a couple takes where I just said it, 'I'm a Jedi,'" Boyega revealed. "There was a couple, but it was good to tease it. I wanted to say it when they're going down into the quicksand."

Star Wars fans would have found that line cathartic; Boyega did not...

The Old Guard 2 images give a look at the long-awaited Charlize Theron sequel
Image
The Charlize Theron action film The Old Guard was a hit for the Netflix streaming service when it was released in 2020, but the sequel The Old Guard 2 has had an unexpectedly bumpy ride while making its way out into the world. It went into production back in 2022, and filming had to be halted briefly after a fire broke out at the film studio where the movie had been shooting; Rome, Italy’s historic Cinecittà Studios. Then there was a shake-up at Netflix during post-production, so the project got shut down for a while – and then there were reshoots. Theron was quoted as saying that it was back on track and coming soon last summer, but there was still another year left to wait. Now we know that the movie will begin streaming on July 2nd, and today Netflix has unveiled a batch of images. You can check them out...

‘Andor’ Season 2 — instant Emmy predictions for the acclaimed Star Wars show
Image
Star Wars has had a rough run of late — the last theatrical release in the franchise, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, was derided by longtime fans and underwhelmed at the box office in 2019 — save for one shining property: Andor, creator Tony Gilroy’s acclaimed exploration of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story breakout character Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) in the years before he helped steal the plans for the Death Star and jumpstart the Rebel Alliance. The Emmy Award-nominated series returns this week for its second and final season with rave reviews and building enthusiasm among its fans. Andor Season 2 picks up one year after the events of Season 1, with the title character building his legend. The 12-episode season covers four years in total (every three-episode block tracks one year in the story), and will run right into the beginning of Rogue One.

Ahead are some instant Emmy predictions for Andor.

When Is ‘Andor’ Season 2 Set in the Star Wars Timeline?
Image
As the “Star Wars” timeline gets more and more prequels and sequels tacked on, it can be confusing where everything falls – including “Andor” Season 2.

Films and shows in the Star Wars universe take place anywhere from hundreds of years before the prequel trilogy to decades after the original trilogy. “Andor” falls somewhere in the middle and manages to be both deeply connected to the events of the classic films and to feel wholly original.

Here is just where “Andor” Season 2 falls in the timeline – which is both simple and a bit more complicated.

When does “Andor” Season 2 take place in the timeline?

The easy answer to this question is: Season 2 takes place between “Andor” Season 1 and the film “Rogue One.”

The broader answer is that the second season of the Disney+ show takes place over the course of four years – ranging from 4 Bby to 1 Bby (Bby standing for Before the...

Mikey Madison Is Not the Only One, 4 Stars Who Refused to Work in Ryan Gosling’s Star Wars Movie
Image
Mikey Madison is blocking the Force!

Ryan Gosling is all set to make waves in the film industry as it has been revealed that the actor will soon be a part of the Star Wars universe. Needless to say, this is a huge feat, and we cannot wait to see what the fictional world has in store for Ryan Gosling. Although we are pretty sure that he is going to nail whatever life and Lucasfilm throw at him.

Being a part of the Star Wars world is not an easy decision to make because once you get in, it’s going to be difficult to get out. Perhaps this is why five Hollywood stars have reportedly refused to star in Shawn Levy’s upcoming movie, including Mikey Madison.

1. Mikey Madison Mikey Madison in Anora (2024) | Credits: Neon

Variety has reported that Mikey Madison was offered a role in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter starring Ryan Gosling.

Plot of Ryan Gosling’s Star Wars Movie Sounds Like Ryan Reynolds’ Hit Netflix Movie but in Space
Image
Familiarity isn’t always comfort—sometimes it’s déjà vu in drag. That’s the thought that parked itself in our brain the second we stumbled upon the Star Wars: Starfighter leak. Ryan Gosling in this Star Wars flick directed by Shawn Levy? Okay, intriguing. But then came the leaked plot: a 15-year-old on the run with his uncle—Gosling—being chased by bad guys across galaxies. Wait a second… isn’t it similar to The Adam Project—with zero gravity added?

Unveiled at Star Wars Celebration Japan, Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter is allegedly set five years post-Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, giving us laser swords, daddy issues, and yes, a full-throttle family dynamic. Sound familiar? Levy’s done this emotional-action sandwich before, with Stranger Things, Real Steel, and of course, The Adam Project.

But now he’s doing it in space—with Gosling, not Reynolds. The formula’s unchanged.

‘Andor’ Season 2 Becomes the Highest Rated Star Wars TV Show or Movie
Image
Andor might not have any Jedi Knight characters, but the Force is strong with the new season of the Star Wars prequel series nonetheless.

The acclaimed Tony Gilroy drama’s second season — which continues the story of Rebel Alliance fighter Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) — has the best critics score on Rotten Tomatoes of any live-action Star Wars TV show — or movie. Andor season two, which premieres tonight, currently has a 98 percent positive rating.

The new season edged out the previous top-rated title which was … Andor season one (96 percent).

Next comes the agreed-upon favorite of all Star Wars films, The Empire Strikes Back, which has 95 percent positive rating. (In case you’re wondering who actually gave a bad review to Empire, the few negative reviews seem to come from archival reviews published when the film was first released in 1980, with critics grousing that the Star Wars sequel is “too dark,” “confusing,...

Ryan Gosling Met with Hayden Christensen to Prepare for ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ Debut
Image
Ryan Gosling is calling on Anakin Skywalker for assistance. Gosling, who is set to lead “Star Wars” franchise installment “Star Wars: Starfighter,” had dinner with iconic star Hayden Christensen, who famously played the young Darth Vader in the prequel films (he later reprised the role for series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Ahsoka.”)

Christensen told Et while at “Star Wars” Celebration in Tokyo that Gosling is an “awesome” actor who would fit into the franchise well. “I don’t think he needs any advice. He’s awesome,” Christensen said. “I got to have dinner with him last night, and I know he’s really excited to now be in the ‘Star Wars’ family, and I’m excited for his film.”

“Star Wars: Starfighter” will be directed by Shawn Levy, and is billed as a standalone film that takes place five years after the events of 2019’s “Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker.

‘Avatar’ and ‘Lincoln’ Production Designer Gets Oscars Replaced After Losing Them in L.A. Wildfires
Image
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has replaced legendary production designer Rick Carter’s two Oscars after they were lost in the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.

Carter, who won two Academy Awards for his work on 2009’s Avatar and 2012’s Lincoln, was among thousands whose homes were destroyed when wildfires ripped through the Pacific Palisades and Altadena in January.

On Monday, the Academy shared on its official Instagram account that CEO Bill Kramer presented Carter with his new statuettes. “Today we had the honor of replacing the Oscars that legendary production designer Rick Carter won for Avatar and Lincoln — awards he lost when the LA fires destroyed his home earlier this year,” the caption read.

“Presented by Academy CEO Bill Kramer, these new statuettes stand in for more than what was lost. They honor a visionary whose work has defined the visual language of modern film...

New Star Wars TV Show in the Works With Lost Showrunner
Image
Ahead of the premiere of the second season of Andor, it's been revealed that another Star Wars TV series is entering development. The series will include the involvement of Carlton Cuse, known in part for his work as a co-showrunner on the hit series Lost.

Per Variety, a Star Wars series is in the works with Cuse and his son, Nick Cuse. Beyond the news that the father-son duo will be developing the project, not much else is yet known about the Star Wars show. No plot details have been revealed, nor has there been any information shared about which characters might appear. It's not even known where in the Star Wars timeline the series will be set.

This is also not the first time a Lost alum has spearheaded a Star Wars project. J.J. Abrams, a Lost co-creator, previously directed 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

‘Star Wars’ Show in the Works From ‘Lost’ Head Carlton Cuse and Son Nick Cuse
Image
A new “Star Wars” streaming series is in the works from Carlton Cuse, the showrunner and executive producer of “Lost,” according to media reports. His son Nick Cuse will also be behind the upcoming series.

Little is known about what the series will be about, who its central characters will be or where it will take place in the timeline of the beloved sci-fi franchise.

Other “Lost” principals have been involved in the “Star Wars” galaxy – “Lost” co-creator J.J. Abrams directed “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Damon Lindelof, who co-created “Lost” with Abrams and who served as showrunner alongside Cuse, was writing a Rey-centered spinoff film but was replaced by another creative team.

Carlton Cuse is a prolific creator and producer, whose post-“Lost” credits include “Bates Motel,” “Jack Ryan,” “Locke & Key” and Netflix’s recent medical drama “Pulse.” His son,...

‘Star Wars’ Series in the Works From ‘Lost’ Boss Carlton Cuse, Son Nick Cuse
Image
A mysterious new “Star Wars” series is in early development from “Lost” co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and his son, Nick Cuse, Variety has confirmed.

There are practically no other details available about the show, such as which characters it will include, when it will take place in the “Star Wars” timeline or which actors will be cast.

Cuse is not the first “Lost” alum to travel to a galaxy far, far away. J.J. Abrams, a co-creator of the sci-fi classic, directed 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”

And Damon Lindelof, Cuse’s co-showrunner on “Lost,” was hired to co-write a film with Justin Britt-Gibson centered on Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey. However, Lindelof said in 2023 that he was “asked to leave” the “Star Wars” universe, and he and Britt-Gibson were replaced as writers by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight. Knight eventually departed the project,...

More than 100,000 fans showed up, an increase of 8% over 2023 attendance in London. The Japanese Celebration included over 26 hours of programming on three stages as well as over 100 hours of fan panels.

Fans in attendance were also the first to get an update on the Ryan Gosling-led “Star Wars: Starfighter” film, set to be released Memorial Day weekend in 2027. “Star Wars: Starfighter,” which will be directed by Shawn Levy and star Ryan Gosling,...
