Really just a waste of time. The acting is incredibly stiff, I even found myself prompting the actors with their lines, it's so predictable. The score is incredibly cheesy and obviously put together by a student filmmaker. The timing is horrible, the actors lines being delivered too soon or too late in almost every scene. Glaringly obvious mistakes and bloopers throughout. I was going to point some out but I'd be here all day. The story did not flow, make any sense or engage the audience. I actually found myself rooting for the 'infected' just to kill off some of the more disappointing leads. I honestly think that the positive reviews on here are planted by the friends/relatives of the actors and producers because it's just that bad. Wooden acting. Poor score. Mediocre story. Don't bother.
  • This "film" is nothing more than a script of "what not to do while acting". I love Quarantine 1 and 2. I love the Rec films, but this Quarantine LA film is enough for you to wish a zombie infection happened and the actors of this film went first. I'd say the actors were flat, but I am curious if they even had a pulse...or a comprehension of how people even talk. The acting was garbage. The lighting was stupid (you have a light in front of the actor hanging from the ceiling, but close up shots you shine light from the side only? The director is licking-windows special). The film is the prolapsed rectum of the whole series. Gross. Unwatchable. Garbage.
  • My team watched this over Zoom one day, and I've gotta tell you, I was ready to un-mute myself and just start going full MST3K on it! It is just that absurd! The only way it could be watchable is if the folks at Rifftrax did commentary on it.

It felt like you were watching it play out in real time.Good for some things, not this. They want me too say more It was as boring as watching Paint dry. Had no real connection to the characters Nor did I care about them. William F looked an acted like a crazy old coot, not a surgeon. The Boobs, well they were boobs for no reason. The infected looked like a bunch of fools at a backyard Halloween party looking for something to do. Have I said enough,it wasted our time, don't let it waste yours. It was a story idea that would've been something,Had the story more meat. I was hoping for it to be better than the M.M. show. If there were only something good to say about it I would, but I can't think of...oh wait it ended.

In 2017 a virus kills much of LA. Somehow the area is isolated without the virus getting out. A team is sent in to find a doctor who has a cure. However the cure is being sold to big Pharma by an individual within the government.

Plot was ill conceived. Acting was bad. Characters were made lame by dialogue. Soundtrack was made for TV quality. Bad editing.

IMDb says the estimated budget for this film was $1.2 million.... whattt??? And more importantly- WHY??

I guess the budget was spent on decent cinematography? But the script was weak, the characters were generic cliches, and the acting was pretty dang bad. I mean - I've seen worse. But that doesn't make this good by any means.

The worst character was a very small Asian woman who was supposed to be a powerful player in charge of military decisions and with an evil side. While I commend powerful roles for women - please hire a woman who can play the part. I wouldn't believe this woman is capable of being head librarian, let alone in charge of the military. Also, she was visibly reading her lines off cue cards, so yeah...

The lead alpha male type guy was also a total flop. Cliche generic character, poor acting, just generally lame. Nothing interesting about him, zero charisma, not attractive. Annoying/idiotic alpha male cliche behavior.

I sometimes really enjoy low budget zombie and sci-fi films. And I'm usually pretty generous with my ratings, but this one was such a dud. There was nothing that made it interesting at all. A bunch of non-actors repeating lines without any sense of them being real characters.

Also, some ridiculous choices in the plot were a total joke. At one point, the characters are inside of a big sturdy building that is surrounded by a fence with barbed wire. They declare that this place is too unsafe to spend the night and they must go a mile further to a safer spot. They lazily trudge along as the sun sets without any sense of purpose or urgency and finally decide to sleep outside in a parking lot slash junkyard??? That was the safer spot?? Ummm okkk. Just plain stupid.

If there was at least something mildly entertaining, interesting, funny, or original here I would give a better score, but there just wasn't. I'm giving 2 stars only because I've seen worse.
  • This is a solid 3.5 spectacular! That's it actually worked on my computer the whole time. This short sited attempt at a good zombie movie fell short because there's nothing here to watch. Generic setups back stories and flashbacks.

Omg, where to start. A military "leader" with no military characteristics at all. A military subordinate who salutes with his left hand: really? A military "hero" who's supposedly a dad, who has no human empathy. Zombies that are smart enough to hide, and close doors behind themselves. People in a life and death situation, walking right past abandoned cars, and dead people, without ever checking for supplies, or I don't know, gas for your offroad vehicle you're just going to walk away from. Come on people, use some common sense when writing this trash, and maybe it won't come across as trash.

This isn't the worst but it's far from good. The music is so loud and overwhelming that you can't hear the dialogue at times. The actors had no chemistry with each other and were very stiff in delivering their lines. With more time and rehearsals this could have been a decent movie!
  • For a zombie movie then "Infected" wasn't particularly memorable or outstanding. That being said, then I will also say, in its defense, that it wasn't the worst of low budget zombie movies that I have seen.

As for the story, well it is about as stereotypical as it gets; a group of survivors are trekking through a zombie-infected zone, that turns out to be Los Angeles.

How wonderfully delightful that this movie is filmed in locations that doesn't indicate a major city at all. So it was really difficult to believe that this movie was supposed to take place in Los Angeles.

The array of characters was also generic for the genre. But I will say that most of the cast actually did pretty good jobs with their given roles, despite the fact that director Filip Maciejewicz seemed to not letting the actors and actresses fully delve into their characters.

Personally, I don't enjoy zombies being all hyper-mobile and able to run, so that part of the movie wasn't sitting well with me at all.

If you are looking for a proper zombie movie then "Infected" is not the best of choices. But if you enjoy low budget zombie movies then you will most likely get a kick or a bite, all puns intended, out of "Infected".
  • I don't know if I can finish watching this. So two characters come across a car and they intend to use the gas in it. No I don't know why they don't just take the car. So they get gas out of this car after killing the zombie in it and freeing the girl friend. No I don't know why she was bound and her mouth taped shut. So they run out of gas by another car. Do they check for gas? No they do not, they just get out of their vehicle and walk. Yeah right past possible zombies who may or may not become bitey at any minute.
  • Have seen this film at the LA Premiere in Quentin Tarantino's theater.

    Beautiful cinematography. Interesting plot.

Finally something smart about psychology of fear and survival.

    Few promising new actors.

Refreshing to see aggressive, mysterious 'infected' instead of your typical zombies.

    Similar to 28 days later.

Impressive locations for a film of independent budget.

Thumbs up for the composer as well - amazing original score.

    Strong 8/10
  • Good idea for soryline but writing and acting let it down. I noticed on one of the military officers he had medals and insignia on wrong side surely they worn on left and not on the right. Film is low budget so won't expect it to be like others in the genre but this film is a let down.
  • When people talk about the "good old days" of film they are referring to one of two periods in film history. The first is the classic era of black and white where lighting and shadows were the draw. The second is the time period of the 1960's- late 1970's when movies had you use your imagination to decode what the camera didn't show you, allowing you to draw your own conclusions to what was happening (Think Texas Chainsaw Massacre). What Infected brings to the table is along the lines of the second period of film. We are told little of the infection and are open to draw the conclusion on whether it was truly man made or a natural event from that was harnessed for mass scale testing.

In today's market where the "zombie" genre has been so diluted by over marketing and goreification (Walking Dead, George Romero remakes) that most films of the genre almost forget to focus on the people and the personal aspects of the survivors. What Infection does is almost make the virus an afterthought to bring the perspective of the survivors to the forefront. The survivors do fall into the stereotype roles, soldier, child, medic, shady stranger, fool, but the writing does the roles justice. Each character is written for their role wonderfully and the writing does not stray from these types. In the homeopathic era of the 'monster' film it is always good to see that people remember what the genre should be and are still willing to take risks to keep it as fresh as possible.

If I had to give a comparison to other movies I would have to say it falls into the area of the Steven King TV movies where a lot of what was going on was done through imagination and dialogue.
  • I saw this movie at the premiere in Los Angeles. It was excellent with a new twist on the whole zombie thing. The acting was good as well. I loved the prisoner, Jared Quinn especially the Monk like coat he wears. There are no "Old Cobblers" in this movie, that's another movie with the same name. I've seen both movies and this one is much much better. This is my first review, but I just felt that I had to tell people what I saw in the film. The movie also highlights government corruption in the event of an epidemic. The film really makes you wonder how you would survive in Los Angeles if this really happened. Who is more of a threat, the Infected or the Strangers you are with?

    Warning: Spoilers
This film is interesting to me, as I wouldn't expect LA to finally have their take on Zombie like isolation. These strangers do their absolute best at surviving and getting themselves out of this sticky situation.

Being with a bunch of strangers, working together to help each other is truly something amazing. Unfortunately, in a case like this, you would hope all of them would live to tell the tale.

The leading actor Bo Linton, playing the lead role of Jake Miller, had a rock solid performance and he is a very believable military action hero.

Overall, this movie was great, I enjoyed watching it. I see such talent in the cast and production team and look forward to seeing more of them.
