In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds - and remembers.
The trailer for the film features the PJ Harvey cover of 'Red Right Hand', which was used in an important scene in Hellboy (2004), another film by Guillermo del Toro, but was performed by Nick Cave.
Edith Cushing:
Ghosts are real. This much I know. The first time I saw one I was 10 years old. It was my mother's. Black cholera had taken her. So Father ordered a closed casket, asked me not to look. There were to be no parting kisses. No goodbyes. No last words....
The "Land Certificate" Edith Cushing finds when looking inside the envelopes related to the former wives bears the cipher ER around the British coat of arms - should be VR (Victoria Regina) as they were from the late 19th century.
The first half of the end credits reveals that Edith adapted her experience in the film into a book titled "Crimson Peak".
