  • I love how funny the movie is and there are character developments, but I don't really like some of the jokes because the discrimination about skin colors/etc. is included and is made to be a joke.
  • "Sisterakas" is a typical Tagalog/Filipino comedy, and you should have some understanding of the Filipino society to fully grasp this movie. Especially with the 'bakla' (gays) that are in the movie. I assume that if you are unfamiliar with this, then you wouldn't fully get the comedy here.

The story in "Sisterakas" is about Detty (played by Ai-Ai de las Alas) and Bernice (played by Vice Ganda) who have the same father, but were parted as children in a harsh way. Bernice vows revenge on the family. All grown up, Bernice is running a successful fashion company, and Detty have just run a business into the ground and ends up at an interview at Bernice, not knowing whom she is.

The acting in the movie is as in basically in all Tagalog comedies, and it is somewhat of an acquired taste. I do enjoy it. And yes, the acting is over the top, just as the situations are.

The characters in "Sisterakas" are colorful, hilarious and well-detailed. And the characters were nicely portrayed by the people on the cast list.

"Sisterakas" is a great movie, it is fun and entertaining, and it is colorful and anything but ordinary. If you enjoy Tagalog comedies, then it is highly recommendable that you watch "Sisterakas".
  • Sisterakas has been dubbed as one of the best comedy film by most people in MMFF, but the truth is, it is nowhere near the high caliber finesse of the other entries. Yes it may be one of the most hilarious and laughable movies but only a few of the cast really pulled off the exuberance that really reels in the audience(Most notably the quirky lines of Vice Ganda and the antics of Ai Ai de las Alas)But what is really lacking in some of the cast is the conveying of the emotion , but what do we expect, its a comedy film, overall the two standouts of the film is Vice and Ai Ai.Yet Kris Aquino delivered a different quirkier side, it didn't quite look natural and seemed forced in a way that her (supposedly) laughing screams sounds like shrieks and very disturbing to the ears.

The problem of this film is that it has too many loopholes in the script and the repetitiveness of some lines that really after a while bores the audience (but then quickly regains momentum. The transitions or shifts of the past to present theme in the beginning of the film was a bit rushed which makes it a bit confusing. The quality of the film is also below average / below mediocre. It seemed like they made this film through the use of Windows Movie Maker. The transitions are too plain and boring.

The storyline itself is a bit repetitive. Vice Ganda also did this kind of genre in the movie This Guy's In Love With U Mare. The revenge plot is very much overused, thus becoming a snore fest.

As a family movie, it is good, but overall this film is just average, upon seeing the past appearances of Vice Ganda in comedy films, this movie is not up to par with the others, like Praybeyt Benjamin and This Guy's In Love With U Mare.

Poor cast choice for the comedy genre (only 2 stand outs) and poor editing, direction and quality.
  • Besides the fact that Filipinos in the Philippines celebrate Christmas commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, we also celebrate the craft and creativity of local movie producers with the Metro Manila Film Festival. It is the biggest film festival that producers and moviegoers are waiting all year round. This year, 2012, 'Sisterakas' of Star Cinema was an official entry.

First things first, we have to acknowledge the fact that "Sisterakas" is a very good comedy film. You would be dubbed as numb if you haven't laughed all the time inside the cinema as there were many scenes which are very relatable and funny.

The producers had the guts as they had Jose Marie Viceral (Vice Ganda), awarded the Phenomenal Box Office Actor of 2011 for "The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin," Ai Ai Delas Alas which was dubbed as the Comedy Queen, and Kris Aquino, the Philippine's Queen of All Media.

One of the highly commendable things about the film is that they targeted the heart of every audience. It was suited for mature and non-mature audiences. They made it funny in a way that you wouldn't even notice that they are making you laugh because they did it as if they are just hosting a variety show or talk show.

Second, it is highly noticeable that the cinematography of the latter films of Wenn Deramas (i.e.: "This Guy's in Love with You Mare" and "Sisterakas") improved a lot comparing it from his past movies. However, we must be very keen in criticizing the cinematography and the screen play as there were some goofs and errors existing in some scenes.

Third, I believe that putting family drama, horror, and family rivalry into a comedy film is something we can consider their edge. It is good that they were able to create a wholesome comedy film combining these genres of movie.

Lastly, this may appear inconsiderate for my part, but I believe ABS-CBN Film Productions need to improve on their video quality as it is not that HD compared to some other films out there.
