Twenty-five years on from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels the British gangster revival is still going strong. Case in point Hitmen, the new film from writer/director Savvas D. Michael who has already made several contributions to the genre including The Bezonians, Smoking Guns and Original Gangster.
Luke and Lauren are having marital issues. But that doesn’t mean she’s thrilled when Jackie starts hitting on her and when she mocks him, hitting her. This leads to a beating which in turn leads to Jackie’s death.
That would be bad enough, but Jackie’s grandfather Michael is a wealthy CEO with some rather shady connections. When they’re acquitted by reason of self-defense he puts a million-dollar contract on the couple.

Some science fiction can embolden the human spirit, inviting us to step out into a wider universe to experience the vast and unimaginable wonders it has to offer. Some science fiction shows us how human ingenuity will solve even our greatest problems and improve our lives for the better.
Other science fiction points out that those vast and unimaginable wonders are terrifying and will probably try to eat you, while human ingenuity is better at nothing more than finding really imaginative ways to kill people.
This month, Horror Channel will be showing a week of films that fall into the latter category with its Sci-Fear Week from Saturday the 20th November through to Friday the 26th, at 9pm each night.

Nightflyers star David Ajala is set as a lead of Under the Bridge, from Mistresses executive producer Rina Mimoun and Jerry Bruckheimer TV.
In Under the Bridge, penned by Mimoun, when a scandal rocks the medical practice she runs with her husband and their friends, a surgeon rises to the occasion and takes the lead in trying to mend both the practice and her own marriage.
Ajala, who fielded multiple offers this pilot season, will play Dan, a gorgeous, dry and somewhat broken man who “works hard for everything, except sex. That comes easily.” Back in the day, he hoped that Kate would wind up with him, but she married his best friend, Michael (Tbd), instead. When Dan votes to separate Michael from their medical practice, Michael considers it a personal betrayal. Only Dan knows the real reason: that in order to protect his best friend, he must be willing to sacrifice their relationship.

This Tuesday, Ti West’s In A Valley of Violence arrives on both Blu-ray and DVD, and Scream Factory is giving the cult classic The House That Screamed an HD overhaul.
Festival favorite Pet comes home on December 27th courtesy of Paramount, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has a new batch of Underworld Blu-rays coming our way, including the original film in 4K Ultra HD. Other notable releases this week include When the Bough Breaks, Dog Eat Dog, and Kill Command.
The House That Screamed (Scream Factory, Blu-ray)
The chilling 1970 horror film by Narciso Ibáñez-Serrador (Who Could Kill A Child?) has been cited as an influence on Dario Argento's classic Suspiria.

In Kill Command, a group of military meatheads travel to a remote island for a training exercise involving ten-foot-tall combat robots designed to give the soldiers a run for their money but never actually do harm. A spoiler alert shouldn’t be necessary for telling you that within about ten minutes that “do no harm” protocol has been wiped clean.
It’s an uninspired premise and, as expected, the resulting film feels like a shoddy videogame adaptation of Terminator, with exactly the absence of imagination and intensity that comparison implies. I could go into detail about all the film’s flaws: the onslaught of gung-ho action clichés the screenplay delivers like a barrage of bullets; the unironic stereotypes that not even the most enthusiastic performances could salvage (for example,...

Vertigo Films has completed production on the sci-fi horror feature Kill Command. Developed by first time director Steven Gomez and the producers of Monsters (Alan Niblo, James Richardson), the film's first trailer is available here. The clip shows an elite group of soldiers, fighting against adaptable machines; the results are horrifying. The film is set for release in the United Kingdom in May. Fans of films can view the entire trailer here. The trailer reveals more of the story, that is not mentioned in the official synopsis. The machines are called S.A.R., which is an acronym for: study, analyze and reprogram. These S.A.R. can act like humans, in that they can adapt to their environment and they can respond to threats, in that environment. As well, the character Mills (Vanessa Kirby) appears to have some programming of her own. Fans of horror and sci-fi are encouraged...

"Some programmer screwed up somewhere." Vertigo Films has released the first trailer for Steven Gomez's Kill Command, a science fiction horror thriller about man eating machines pitted against helpless humans - pretty much. The film stars English actress Vanessa Kirby as some kind of cyborg, Danish actor Thure Lindhardt, plus David Ajala, Tom McKay, Bentley Kalu and Mike Noble as an elite unit of Marines that goes in for an exercise and discovers they're in for a death match with some very creepy, nasty robots. This looks kind of awesome! I'm actually looking forward to seeing this, nice surprise sci-fi discovery. The VFX are impressive - I'm kinda creeped out. Everything about it looks solid, might be entertaining. Identify! Here's the first trailer (+UK poster) for Steven Gomez's Kill Command, found via The Movie Box: Kill Command is a sci-fi action thriller set in a near future, technology-reliant society that pits man against killing machines.
