Via Variety, Netflix shared the first image from Madea's Destination Wedding, which sees Perry portray the eponymous Mabel "Madea" Simmons and her wisecracking brother, Joe Simmons. The video captures the performance in all its glory, with the members of Gojira playing the song from platforms outside the windows of the Conciergerie building, a former prison and courthouse that sits along the River Seine. As they deliver the metal version of the French Revolution-era song “Ah, Ça Ira!,” they are joined by opera singer Marina Viotti, who floats down the river in a wooden ship.

This new official version of the video gets rid of the semi-annoying commentary from the original broadcast’s NBC announcers, and lets the music and visuals do the talking.

At the end of August, Gojira released an official single version of the song, which went on to be nominated for Best Metal Performance at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards.

Its about time! Fans of Tyler Perry can now anticipate whats to come next month as Netflix has released an all-new trailer for Beauty in Black, ahead of its release later next month. As previously announced, the project is part of a creative collaboration with Netflix, in which Perry will write, direct, and produce films and series under a multi-year first-look deal. Another production under this exclusive deal is the crime thriller Mea Culpa, which premiered in February and starred Trevante Rhodes and Kelly Rowland in lead roles.

Team 17 Digital and developer The Game Kitchen have announced Blasphemous 2 will be receiving a new Dlc in “Mea Culpa” this Halloween. Mea Culpa will arrive for PC and consoles, alongside the free True Torment update to the 2D Soulslike that adds expanded zones and new enemies, alongside a New Game+.

Priced at $11.99 Usd and launching October 31, Mea Culpa centres around the Mea Culpa, the lost sword wielded by The Penitent One in the first Blasphemous game. This leads players to traverse two massive new zones, with new bosses, foes and NPCs, as well as new quests to assemble the Mea Culpa. There will also be a new alternative ending that requires you to face the “fiercest challenges” of Blasphemous 2.

As for the free True Torment update, players will be greeted with the highly requested New Game+ mode, as well as “a host of other features” that includes:

Gojira’s thrilling performance during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics earlier this summer was momentous on a global scale for both the band and heavy metal in general. We might be biased here at Heavy Consequence, but it clearly stole the show.

As a post-celebration of Paris hosting the Summer Games, Gojira’s performance of “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça Ira)” was projected against the famous Arc de Triomphe monument in Place Charles de Gaulle over the weekend.

Gojira themselves weren’t there this time around, as they are in the midst of supporting Korn on a North American tour (pick up tickets here). Instead, a striking visage of the band from the opening ceremony — performing outside the windows of the Conciergerie building overlooking the River Seine — was projected against the archway at night.

Really, the only thing missing from the reprisal was the band.

Korn launched their Fall 2024 North American tour on Thursday night (September 12th) at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida.

The outing, which features support from Gojira and Spirtbox, is scheduled through a October 27th show in St. Paul, Minnesota, with tickets available here.

At the Tampa kickoff, Korn played a career-spanning 18-song set, beginning with “Here to Stay” off 2002’s Untouchables. The nu-metal pioneers’ groundbreaking 1994 self-titled debut, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, was well represented with four songs: “Blind,” “Ball Tongue,” “Clown,” and “Shoots and Ladders.”

Meanwhile, frontman Jonathan Davis and company performed three songs each from classic ’90s albums Life Is Peachy, Follow the Leader, and Issues, with each album represented in three-song encore: “Falling Away From Me,” “Good God,” and the show-closing “Freak on a Leash.” Among the highlights was the band’s first performance of “Hey Daddy” since 1999.

On Sept. 12, Netflix announced that Perry's debut series with the streamer, Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black, will be released on Thursday, Oct. 24. Along with the release date announcement, the streamer also dropped the first teaser trailer for the show, and it's sure to be one of fall's biggest hits!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beauty in Black's release date on Oct. 24 will be the first of a two-part drop for the series. Now, fans have definitely soured on Netflix's recent tendency to split the releases of show into two parts, but there's good news here before you get too worked up. The first season of Beauty in Black contains 16 episodes, which means part 1 will likely have eight episodes.

A new Tyler Perry series is coming to Netflix and we've just learned the release date! Snowfall's Taylor Polidore Williams and Acrimony alum Crystle Stewart will lead the show, titled Beauty in Black, for Netflix, which will be released in two parts beginning on Oct. 24.

Beauty in Black is the latest acquisition under Perry's multi-year first-look deal with Netflix, where the filmmaker is expected to write, direct, and produce feature films and series for the streamer. His most recent Netflix release was the thriller film Mea Culpa.

Netflix revealed the Oct. 24 release date for Beauty in Black, and the all-new series will be an hour-long drama written, directed, and produced by Perry. The first season will have 16 episodes, which is a rarity when it comes to Netflix shows, most of which usually only have eight to 10 episodes for their debut seasons.

Gojira stole the show at last month’s Olympics opening ceremony in Paris with their mesmerizing performance of “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!)” featuring opera singer Marina Viotti. Now, the French metal masters have unveiled an official single version of the song via streaming services (listen below).

The official audio comes two weeks before Gojira support Korn on a North American tour that kicks off September 12th and runs through October 27th, with tickets available here.

Netflix has unveiled a trailer for Tyler Perry’s original wartime drama “The Six Triple Eight,” starring Kerry Washington.

According to the official logline, “‘The Six Triple Eight’ is inspired by the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas in WWII. Given an extraordinary mission and united in their determination, these unsung heroes delivered hope and shattered barriers.”

Washington plays Major Charity Adams, who, in the trailer, commands a battalion of women soldiers and gives them some stern words of encouragement before starting their training. “I am giving you my best, and you will give me yours. Per Amazon’s official logline, the film follows “Ava, a young bank professional who is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she is determined to fight for until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.”

The films will be produced by the duo in conjunction with Tyler Perry Studios in the latest expansion of Perry’s creative partnership at Netflix, inked as a first-look film deal in October 2023 and has broadened to include scripted and unscripted TV projects.

“I’m so excited to be working with DeVon on this and future projects,” said Perry in a statement announcing the partnership. “I think in this polarizing world, and at a time where the world seems to be growing colder everyday, we both share the common goal of wanting to spread some good. The first film under their new partnership will be R&b, written by Mike Elliott (Brown Sugar) and Cory Tynan, and described as a modern-day retelling of the story of Ruth and Boaz, an iconic Biblical love story. Set in Tennessee, R&b follows a young woman who escapes the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widowed woman, only to the love of her life and gain the mother she never had.

Netflix reported its first-quarter 2024 earnings Thursday, revealing it added a whopping 9.33 million paid subscribers.

Analysts consensus estimates were for Netflix to add 3.93 million paid subs globally in Q1 (to reach 264.21 million), according to StreetAccount. Per Netflix, it has now climbed to 269.60 million subs as of March 31.

These impressive Q1 results come following a better-than-expected 13.1 million subscribers added for the fourth quarter of 2023, which was a Q4 record for Netflix. Despite this back-to-back growth worth boasting about, Netflix announced Thursday it will stop reporting quarterly sub totals beginning in 2025, a move that is sure to shock an industry that has been fueled by the battle for streaming subscribers for years.

Her new film Damsel recorded 35.3M views in just three days of availability, easily boosting it to the top of the English film charts (and taking the crown as the most-watched title of the week) from March 4 to March 10.
