The thriller The Woman in the Yard, which is coming our way from Blumhouse Productions, Universal Pictures, and director Jaume Collet-Serra, was once set to reach theatres on January 10, 2025, but it was recently bumped off the Universal release slate entirely to make room for another Blumhouse / Universal collaboration, the Wolf Man reboot directed by Leigh Whannell. When you begin watching Palm Royale on Apple TV+ tomorrow, you'll be whisked back to the lively and colorful Palm Beach of the late 1960s courtesy of Abe Sylvia, whose creative mind brought it all together.
Sylvia created, writes, and directs Palm Royale, which almost defies genres. It's a comedic period piece starring Kristen Wiig as Maxine Simmons, a woman who takes her future into her own hands, desperate to cross the line between the haves and have-nots.
As Maxine brings her daring plan to extraordinary life, she discovers that the lives she wants to crash aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Sylvia has an unusual heroine in Maxine, who is as aggravating as she is understandable, and he's ensconced her in high society with many vibrant and sly women and men eager to both embrace Maxine and hold her at a distance, depending on their needs at the moment.

The Liane Moriarty cinematic universe has now come to Peacock, but how does one adapt the author behind “Big Little Lies” and “Nine Perfect Strangers” work for the screen?
“Apples Never Fall” showrunner Melanie Marnich told IndieWire that maintaining beloved novelist Moriarty’s “page-turner energy” was key for adapting the twisted family drama starring Annette Bening and Sam Neill.
“The pacing of those kinds of moments was to make the TV show have the same page-turner energy of the book,” Marnich said. “It was something I had to really be aware of. In the writer’s room, we worked really hard to craft the sort of constant turn of the story. It was so juicy. I’m a huge fan of Liane. I really, really worked to capture that same page turner energy in the show to keep things moving, but also never at the sacrifice of character development.”

Exclusive: Melanie Marnich is a huge fan of Big Little Lies scribe Liane Moriarty’s work, but when showrunning an adaptation of Moriarty’s Apples Never Fall, Marnich blocked the HBO hit from her consciousness almost entirely.
Peacock’s Apples Never Fall, which stars 2024 Oscar-nominee Annette Bening, launches tomorrow and is in international competition at next week’s Series Mania, was made with a Big Little Lies-free lens, Marnich explained to Deadline.
“I admire Big Little Lies and think it’s brilliant but I had to literally put it out my mind,” she said in the days leading up to the Lille market. “I knew I had to quite quickly ignore all [Moriarty’s past work] and ask what this book wants to be and what the best way is to honor it. How do I ignore all that came before to find the best voice and vision for this translation?”

Oscar-nominated “Nyad” star Annette Bening on Peacock? Well, sometimes miracles do happen.
“Apples Never Fall” creator Melanie Marnich wanted to swing big when it came to pitching her take on the Liane Moriarty thriller novel adaptation. Despite never having showrun before, she was determined to cast A-lister Bening as Joy Delaney, a tennis pro coach matriarch who goes missing. While all signs point to her husband Stan (Sam Neill) as the most likely culprit, Joy’s case unlocks further Delaney family secrets swirling around their four children, played by Jake Lacy, Alison Brie, Conor Merrigan-Turner, and Essie Randles.
Bening, in fact, was at the center of Marnich’s initial pitch to Peacock.
“When [producer] David Heyman was looking for writers for the project I was like, ‘I’m going for it. I want this one,'” Marnich told IndieWire. “I think in my initial pitch to him, I was like, ‘I see Annette Bening as Joy.

We've gotten more used to seeing Joshua Jackson on small screens in recent years, with the likes of The Affair and Fatal Attraction. But he's headed back to cinemas with a big gig – Jackson will appear alongside Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio and Ben Wang in Sony's new Karate Kid film.
With I'm Not Okay With This' Jonathan Entwistle directing from a script by Peter Rabbit writer Rob Lieber, a lot about the new film is being kept quiet for now, but we do know that it'll switch the story from its usual Southern California locales to the East Coast of the States. Macchio and Chan's presence, points to Daniel Larusso and Mr. Han teaming up to train a new youngster in martial arts (American Born Chinese star Wang).
How Jackson fits in is similarly a mystery, but we could easily see him deploying smooth charm as a wrong 'un.

Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" books are tasty slabs of red meat for those who prefer their pulpy action hard-boiled, providing readers with a motley collection of crime investigations, despicable bad guys, and a hero who's the sort of unstoppable force that could make an immovable object shuffle a little. And so far, Prime Video's "Reacher" has stayed largely faithful to that ethos. The show might not hold up under critical scrutiny, but it's not meant to. Child's original novels are page-turners designed to be consumed in a single go by anyone and everyone regardless of their familiarity with the greater franchise, and the series is cut squarely from the same cloth.
Be that as it may, those who invest themselves in the extended "Reacher" mythology will be rewarded for their efforts. Throughout extensive flashbacks, season 1 fleshes out Jack Reacher's backstory, starting with his days as a military brat...

Dominic West was stressed over Royals’ and others’ reactions to the final season of “The Crown.”
West portrayed Prince Charles during his marriage to late Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki. The sixth and final season of the acclaimed Netflix series included Diana’s death and saw Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton) scrambling to keep the monarchy relevant in the 21st century.
West explained during the BBC Radio 4 show “Today” (via Deadline) that he did have some “concern” over how the surviving Royal family would view the show, especially after “The Crown” cast had to defend the series against criticisms that certain portrayals were insensitive.
“I don’t want to make their lives any more difficult than they already are, so I suppose it does concern you. All reactions worry me,” West said. “I read all the reviews and spent two days in bed. So yes, I’m a sensitive soul,...

Jeff Ryan, Scott Cohen, Katerina Tannenbaum, Geneva Carr and Will Chase will star in “Mooch.” The crime comedy was also written and directed by Ryan, whose credits include “Mean Spirited” and “YouthMin.”

The movie focuses on a 30-year-old caddy named Shane (Ryan), who winds up with an unexpected gig as a personal private eye for a New Jersey nightclub owner. Even though he inches closer to realizing his ambitions, his personal life spirals out of control.
“When I was in high school, my friend’s dad told me I was going to fail in life because I was a ‘Mooch,’” said Ryan. “Making this film was a dream come true, and I am proud to put my dirty laundry on screen for all to enjoy.

No one sleeps easily in Showtime‘s provocative six-part Irish mystery The Woman in the Wall — especially not Lorna (the mesmerizing Ruth Wilson of Luther and The Affair fame), whose sleepwalking antics have made her something of a pariah in her small town. We first see Lorna as she awakens in the middle of a country road, and even when she’s fully conscious, she appears to be in a state of perpetual disorientation. Lorna’s unstable state is further rattled when she receives a note saying someone has information about her daughter, who was taken from her 30 years ago (declared dead) in a notorious convent and workhouse for unwed girls, a trauma from which she has never fully recovered. A pending class-action lawsuit against these cruel “mother and baby homes” provides a backdrop to Lorna’s ordeal, which only intensifies when she awakens from one of her spells and...

Twenty-seven years after the release of the blockbuster disaster film Twister (watch it Here), Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have finally put a follow-up on the fast track to release – but they’re not calling it a sequel. Scheduled to receive a theatrical release on July 19, 2024, Twisters has been described as a “new chapter” in what is about to become a franchise… and during an interview with Vogue, cast member Glen Powell – who can currently be seen on the big screen in the romantic comedy Anyone but You – confirmed that the film tells a standalone story.
