A titan of industry is sent to prison after she's caught insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America's latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.
In one scene, Kathy Bates (who starred in Stephen King's movies, Misery (1990) and Dolores Claiborne (1995)), refers to Michelle Darnell as "Shawshank", which is a nod to another Stephen King movie, The Shawshank Redemption (1994).
I am amazed that the United Center is even still standing because I crushed it tonight!
Tito: You crushed it like velvet!
After Michelle is released from jail she has nowhere to live and seems to have no money at all even though prior to being released she is told all her accounts had been frozen, not cleared out. It's unlikely that she would have lost all of her money for a crime whose jail sentence is only 5 months, particularly if she was significantly wealthy beforehand.
Out-takes are shown during the closing credits.
