A grumpy Grinch plots to ruin Christmas for the village of Whoville.
The Grinch's backstory differs from the live-action counterpart, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), in which the Grinch was publicly humiliated in elementary school as a child due to having to shave at his age.
Who Lady: Excuse me! Are you getting that? I need it for my Christmas stuffing.
Grinch: Mmm, no.
Who Lady: Well, that's not very nice.
Who Lady: Oh sugar plums.
The Grinch's cave door alternates between opening to the outside and to the inside throughout the movie.

The UK theatrical release was censored in order to obtain a U classification; the distributor chose to remove several uses of mild bad language (ass) from a song number in order to avoid the film receiving a PG rating uncut.
