Kai Caster (“Yellowstone”) has been cast in the upcoming horror-comedy Halloween Store, Deadline reports.

He joins the previously announced Simon Rex (Scary Movie 3) and Natalie Alyn Lind (“The Goldbergs”).

In the film, a group of people find themselves trapped inside a costume store on Halloween night with a mysterious killer on the loose.

Caster will play Brock, the boyfriend of Amy (Lind) and a star quarterback with alternative motives. At first glance, Brock is the epitome of an all-American good boy, but he may just have a dark, sinister side.

Shane Dax Taylor (Murder Company) directs from a script by Chad Law (6 Bullets) and Josh Ridgway (The Flood).

Netflix has greenlit the adult animated comedy series created by Matt Roller about a single mother of two who struggles to run the Undervale, a hotel that happens to be haunted. Luckily, she has some help from her estranged brother … who is now one of the ghosts and thinks his fellow phantoms have some pretty good ideas.

Roller sold the series to Netflix in a highly competitive auction and landed a straight-to-series order. He recently served as a co-executive producer on Dan Harmon’s Krapopolis, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s Mr. Mayor, and two seasons of The Goldbergs. The full-service company will look to take film and TV projects from conception through to delivery.

The duo have brought on executive Sophia Lucchesi who joins from Weimaraner Republic Pictures and New Mandate Films, where she was previously the Head of Development. There, she helped develop Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints for Fox Nation, The Commandant’s Shadow for HBO, Emmy-nominated The Survivor for HBO, and Hocus Pocus 2 for DisneyPlus. Prior to that, Lucchesi worked for Elizabeth Gabler at Fox 2000 and Paradigm Talent Agency in the TV Literary and Talent departments. She is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Per Variety, Lautner is set to star in and executive produce a scripted series titled Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter.The series is in development at Amazon MGM Studios.

Per Variety, it's been revealed that NBC has renewed St. Denis Medical for Season 2. The news is not surprising when looking at the numbers that the series has been drawing for the network, as it's become one of NBC's most-watched shows of the current 2024-25 TV season, pulling in 21.4 million viewers to date. The reception for the show has also been strong, as St. Denis Medical holds a fresh score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Executive producers and writers Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna may have another hit on their hands with the launch of their Stephanie Hsu-led dark comedy Laid, which premieres on Peacock December 19. But the creative duo’s bond stems back to the fabulous and cancelled-too-soon 2012 ABC comedy Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, which starred Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Dreama Walker (Doubt), and James Van Der Beek as, well, himself (sort of).

In a recent interview with MovieWeb, the duo admitted that Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 was ahead of its time. “It's still my favorite show that I've ever been on staff for,” said Bradford McKenna, who was one of the producers of the show created by Khan. Ruby Yao (Stephanie Hsu), the protagonist of the Peacock comedy “Laid,” is variously described as “selfish,” “a nightmare,” “the worst person I have ever met” and belonging “in jail.” Hsu’s performance and Ruby’s characterization as a whole are indeed intensely off-putting, in ways both intentional and not. But Ruby’s karmic comeuppance in this series, adapted by sitcom veterans Nahnatchka Khan (“Fresh off the Boat”) and Sally Bradford McKenna (“The Goldbergs”) from an Australian show of the same name, doesn’t affect her directly. Instead, everyone she’s ever slept with starts to die — often in outlandish ways, always in the order she had sex with them.

This morbid premise evokes the late, great “Lovesick.” But unlike that British series, in which the hero’s Sti leads him to revisit past relationships, the heightened stakes of “Laid” present a tonal hurdle the eight-episode season proves unable to surmount.

The American education system has a rather regrettable take on sex-ed: “If you have sex you will die.” The trope has been mined for comedy before, but few shows take the premise as seriously as Laid. The romantic comedy series starring Stephanie Hsu lands on Peacock this week with its darkly funny premise. Hsu gets another nuanced and exciting role to continue her ascent. Meanwhile, co-star Zosia Mamet delivers her funniest performance since Girls. Together, they lift the comedy series thanks to their chemistry and zany performances.

Wendi McLendon-Covey is a very funny woman. That’s a statement backed up by facts. She starred as Beverly in ABC’s “The Goldbergs” for 10 seasons — a runtime that seems downright shocking in an era dominated by two to three season hits — and has starred in every kind of buzzy comedy from mainstream blockbusters like “Bridesmaids” to ambitious critical darlings like “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.” This is all to say that McLendon-Covey knows comedy.

Against larger Hollywood trends towards embracing cultural identity, Jewish characters on TV are still depicted as hiding or playing down their Jewishness, according to a new study from USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center’s Media Impact Project.

The study, undertaken with the support of the Jewish Institute for Television and Cinema Hollywood Bureau, also confirmed that “Jewface” really does exist, noting that only about half of Jewish characters are played by confirmed Jewish actors. It also pointed out that Jewish actresses are 21 percent less likely to be cast as Jewish characters than their male counterparts are.

The study is the first of its kind to focus on Jewish representation since 1999 and predates the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel and ensuing war in Gaza, which has led to an explosive 60 percent increase in antisemitic hate crimes. The Masked Singer is back!

The quarter-finals of the mystery celebrity singing competition aired on Wednesday night (December 4) on Fox.

The show, which began in South Korea, features celebrities singing songs while wearing costumes and face masks concealing their identities until they’re eliminated. Throughout the season, the contestants provide clues to try and help the judges and fans figure out who is under the mask.

This season also features Ambassadors, who are all alums of the series, that have a special connection to each singer and will be providing major new clues about their friends’ identities.

During the episode, the Top Four – Wasp, Goo, Strawberry Shortcake, and Buffaloes – hit the stage for their quarter-finals performances.
