For the past two decades, Andrew Garfield has stood out as one of the most charming and talented actors that Britain has to offer. Over the course of his career, he's proven himself to be constantly eager to take on new challenges, appearing in a Catholicism-soaked period drama one moment and a sprightly superhero flick the next. You never know exactly what he's going to take on next, except that he's guaranteed to bring a certain boy-next-door charisma to every performance.
After making his on-screen debut in 2005's teen comedy "Sugar Rush," he catapulted to stardom with a string of well-received leading roles. Garfield is no stranger to awards season, as he has received nominations at the Academy Awards, Emmys, BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and Tonys. And while not every project of his is a slam dunk, a lot of them are, and all are improved by his presence. Here are...

Fans can’t believe that some of the most brilliant films of 2024 were ignored by the Academy altogether. Before the 2025 nomination list was announced on January 23, some of these films were the most popular contenders in some categories. However, the Academy didn’t even consider Zendaya’s Challengers, Nicole Kidman’s Babygirl, or Kirsten Dunst’s Babygirl for an award.

Fans have called out the unfair snubs on social media while expressing support for some of their favorite films of the year. These underperforming films had several factors that made them a worthy contender for an Oscar.

Annually, Rotten Tomatoes hands out Golden Tomatoes to the best-reviewed movies and TV series from the past year.
Previous winners include Oppenheimer, The Last of Us, Top Gun: Maverick, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and House of the Dragon, but Dune: Part Two has reigned supreme this time.
Shōgun largely dominated the TV side, though there were noteworthy wins for both The Penguin and X-Men '97. Unfortunately, neither Deadpool & Wolverine nor Agatha All Along have received any love, even in the newly created "Fan Favorite Movies" category.
The winners and nominees are determined by an adjusted score formula, which is a weighted ranking that compensates for the variation in the number of reviews when comparing movies or TV shows within a specified time frame.
Critics have always had something of a complicated relationship with comic book adaptations, particularly in recent years. However, between this and other televised award shows, it's clear...

English actors, Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, are some of the biggest stars currently working in Hollywood, with a strong following thanks to the varied range of their filmography. Both Garfield and Pugh attracted major mainstream attention as they took on the roles of two arachnid-themed heroes when they played Spider-Man and Yelena Belova in several projects inspired by the Marvel Comics characters. While their superhero roles may have netted them major attention across the globe, Garfield and Pugh's respective ranges can be seen throughout their past roles.
Garfield's mainstream breakout came when he portrayed social media entrepreneur Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network, while his portrayal of pacifist World War II corporal Desmond Doss in Hacksaw Ridge and playwright Jonathan Larson in Tick, Tick... Boom! saw him receive nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actor. After Pugh made her breakthrough through her roles in Fighting with My Family,...

“Kneecap” — the Irish-language music biopic that became one of the buzziest indie films of 2024 and is now tipped for both Oscar and BAFTA recognition — has, perhaps unsurprisingly, emerged far ahead of the pack of nominees for the 2025 Irish Film & TV Academy (IFTA) awards.
Rich Peppiatt’s raucous comedy, about (and starring) the Belfast rap trio of the same name, has landed an astonishing 17 nominations for the awards, including best film, director, three of the six slots for lead actor, three of the six for supporting actress and one for Michael Fassbender in the supporting actor category.
“Small Things Like These,” the considerably quieter Irish drama fronted (and produced) by Cillian Murphy has nine nominations, including lead actor for Murphy, who won the award last year for “Oppenheimer.”
Having been co-produced by Irish company Tailored Films, Ali Abbasi’s Donald Trump biopic “The Apprentice” is also in the mix, with four nominations.

January has long been considered a dumping ground for blockbusters – which means the field is open for Oscar hopefuls to make cash…
There’s a curious spot of perceived wisdom in box office circles that January is a bit of a theatrical dumping ground. When Bong Joon-ho’s follow up to the Oscar-winning Parasite, Mickey-17, was originally pushed to an early-year release, it was taken as a cause for concern. When it was duly shifted (again) to its current date in March, it was widely seen as a vote of confidence from Warner Bros.
From a UK perspective, this seems odd, because January is when all the good films come out. After years of pushing all their star-stuffed dramas to the end of the US release schedule (how else can voters remember they exist?), any original story with a half-decent marketing budget now makes its way into the UK while...

Florence Pugh has taken on some challenging roles over the years. However, there’s one that she doesn’t think she’ll ever be able to replicate for her health.
During a recent interview, the 29-year-old We Live In Time actress opened up about learning how to take care of herself while acting. She added that she’d “given too much” to previous roles, which left her “broken for a long time afterwards.”
She then provided an example, saying that she “can’t do” something like it again in the future.
Keep reading to find out more…
“Protecting myself is something I’ve had to learn how to do,” she explained on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast.
For example, she said, “Like when I did Midsommar, I definitely felt like I abused myself in the places that I got myself to go to, which is the nature of figuring...

Good things take time. Be it Jesse Pinkman’s near perfect wooden box. Or Florence Pugh’s performance in the 2019 horror-thriller, Midsommar. Though she has been a part of many movies since, the role is believed by many to be her best performance till date.
Pugh’s acting career might still be young. And fans around the world sre still willing to flock to theatres to see her. Midsommar might have a large role to play in that. But it seems like the world will never be treated to another performance of that scale from her. The reason? Turns out time isn’t the only thing it took from her.
Florence Pugh went through hell in order to prepare for her role in Midsommar Playing Dani in Midsommar was a taxing task for Florence Pugh|| A24 Pictures
Florence Pugh has never been one to shy away from letting people in on her process.

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is already the highest-grossing film of his career, and has just broken plenty more records besides. More below…
Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu claimed the top spot at the UK box office this week, beating out Mufasa: The Lion King and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 with £5,246,910 across its five-day opening weekend. In an even more family-unfriendly move, we’re pretty confidently saying that makes it the first UK number one to feature a full-frontal shot of an undead penis. That’s an accolade Eggers and co can really be proud of.
But that’s not the only record broken by the historical auteur’s 19th-century passion project. According to Deadline, the film out-grossed Eggers’ The Northman's entire opening weekend after its first day on release, and gives Universal the biggest opening for a horror film in the UK since its own Five Nights At Freddy’s in 2023.

Florence Pugh can no longer play roles like Dani in 'Midsommar' as she feels as though she "abused myself in the places that I got myself to go".The 29-year-old actress portrayed the protagonist in Ari Aster's 2019 folk horror film. Dani is a American student who is traumatised after her mentally ill sister Terri kills their parents and then herself via carbon monoxide poisoning. As Dani struggles to accept what happened, she and her distant boyfriend Christian and their two friends, Mark and Josh, are invited by Swedish student Pelle to attend a nine-day midsummer festival at his ancestral commune, the Harga, in the rural Halsingland region of Sweden. But the trip turns into a nightmare when it becomes apparent the commune have invited them for sinister purposes as guests go missing and Dani is forced into taking hallucinogenic mushrooms, manipulated over her deceased parents and and...
