At once a manic, go-for-broke dysfunctional comedy and a sincere love-letter to cinema.. watching Cinemacoma unfold in all its wackiness is a blast. The device of using film quotes as both punchlines and exposition is rapid-fire and perfectly pitched.. with a particularly memorable nod to Boogie Nights leaving me in hysterics.

While the comedy is the most upfront level of the movie, the entire experience felt to me like a very sly commentary on how we are so often utterly hopeless when it comes to communicating with other human beings - particularly those closest to us. And yet, we manage to find such solace and empathy in art - in this case, the art of film - which manages to perfectly express so much of what we ourselves feel but can never quite convey in our own words.

Overall, this is a gem of short, featuring some truly inspired comedic writing and performances.
