Zosia Mamet comes from a long lineage of folks making names for themselves in some capacity in the entertainment field. As one can probably tell from her last name, she's the daughter of playwright and screenwriter David Mamet, who's behind such works as "Glengarry Glen Ross" and the 1997 political satire "Wag the Dog." Mamet's mother, Lindsay Crouse, is an actor, while her grandfather on that side of the family is Russel Crouse, another playwright.
It almost seems like Mamet was destined for big things with that lineage, and she's certainly made a name for herself over the past decade of consistent work. From dramas to comedies (but mostly comedies), she's done it all, especially after breaking out with her role of Shoshanna Shapiro on "Girls."
These are the best Mamet movies and TV shows yet, but don't worry. Despite providing one of the most ridiculous moments in "Madame Web," her...

Among Disney's vast catalog of characters, some of the most popular are the Disney princesses, yet not every princess gets the attention or the treatment she rightfully deserves. Generally, the Disney princesses who are most easily recognized are those from the company's most popular movies, i.e. Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Frozen to name a few. There are other princesses who may not be as memorable, but have plenty of adoring fans, such as Tiana or Rapunzel. However, there is another tier of Disney princesses who are often completely forgotten, yet have plenty to offer.
What is most surprising about these forgotten princesses is that they are actual princesses. While many Disney characters get honorary princess status despite not being actual princesses, like Hercules' Megara or The Hunchback of Notre Dame's Esmeralda, these underrated characters are true royalty. Not only are these characters swept under the rug,...

“Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice,” the upcoming action-comedy from writer/director BenDavid Grabinski, has found its baddie in legendary actor Keith David.
David, whose credits include everything from John Carpenter’s “They Live” to Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog,” joins a stacked ensemble cast led by Vince Vaughn that also includes James Marsden, Jimmy Tatro and Eiza González.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it has previously been described as a buddy action-comedy. The project hails from 20th Century, which landed the project after a heated bidding war with multiple interested parties.
David has been working in Hollywood since the early 1980s. His first big movie role was in John Carpenter’s immortal “The Thing” in 1982. Speaking to his versatility, starting the following year, he had a recurring role on “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” as Keith David the Handyman. He also appeared in Oliver Stone’s “Platoon,...

Netflix's The Decameron (2024) is a unique historical comedy inspired by 14th century Italian short stories by Giovanni Boccaccio. The humor, romance, and historical backdrop of The Decameron have drawn comparisons to Bridgerton. The Decameron features a talented ensemble that includes Tony Hale, Zosia Mamet, Tanya Reynolds, and more.
Netflixs The Decameron (2024) follows a unique, hilarious group of characters to an Italian villa in 1348 as they try and escape the Black Death in Florence. The series was inspired by the 14th century Italian short-story collection of the same name by Giovanni Boccaccio. Though they have their differences, the romance and historical setting have led people to compare Netflixs The Decameron and Bridgerton. The Decamerons raunchy humor makes it a sex comedy as well, with the villa characters often just as, if not more concerned with sex and romance as staying alive.
That is partially what makes The Decameron stand out among other medieval TV shows.

TV networks come and go. While the state of cable TV now isn’t particularly stable amid the constant streaming wars, TV network deaths have always been monumental funerals. Corporate mergers, changes in demographics, and budget cuts all contributed to channel deaths during the early 21st century that crushed my spirits – long before Netflix even cast the first streaming stone.
Not a day goes by when I don’t reflect upon my childhood spent watching programming on long-gone networks. These networks gave unrepresented artists platforms, brought audiences of underserved demographics together, and ultimately established specific TV identities. These are a few channels that deserve a second or third shot at life.
Spike TV
Before it became the “Yellowstone and Friends” channel, also known as Paramount Network, Spike TV was machismo-television personified. Who doesn’t remember the days of watching Rambo, Star Wars marathons, and 1000 Ways to Die in rotation?...

It is well known that in the entertainment industry, there are far more rejected ideas and concepts for movies and shows than ones that are eventually made. Disney is no stranger to this, as many of its early or canceled concepts have become well-known within the fandom. The trouble is that many of those concepts are locked away in a vault, never to be seen by the general public.
Now, in a series of massive online leaks, multiple pilots, sporty bibles, and show concepts give fans a look at what could have been for some of their favorite shows and what we never got to see. These leaks include not only Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon projects but also Disney Channel/Disney Xd shows.

Everyone has a high school movie that rings uncomfortably true to their own experiences as a teenager. For some, it's a bitingly satirical portrait like "Heathers" or "Mean Girls," while for others, it's a brutally honest dramedy like "The Edge of Seventeen." But for me, there's only one film that really captures what my time was like as a non-Mormon attending a predominantly Mormon high school in a small Utah town in the early 2000s, and that's "Napoleon Dynamite." True, writer/director Jared Hess' 2004 cult hit takes place in the filmmaker's hometown of Preston, Idaho, but ... well, let's just say that if you know anything about small-town Utah and Idaho Mormon culture, then you know they weren't exactly worlds apart when the film was made.
I was fortunate enough to have graduated from high school literal weeks before "Napoleon Dynamite" arrived, which spared me from having to listen to my...

His oldest daughter, Jenny (Coronation Street's Amy James-Kelly), isn't taking kindly to the tragic disruption in her life and is taking out her frustrations by sneaking around behind her father's back with a new boyfriend. In certain ways, the May 2 CalArts Character Animation Producers’ Show resembled any number of other year-end showcases of undergrad work held by art schools nationwide. Students gathered to cheer on their classmates, as 22 student-created animation shorts were screened, with four of them winning special awards. Alumni and faculty mingled in the aisles, using the event as a de facto reunion.
Of course, most other schools’ programs do not fill up the DGA Theater in Hollywood, and most mingling alumni do not include the likes of Pixar’s Pete Docter catching up with students and offering notes afterward. And it was hard to miss the entire rows roped off for representatives of every major player in animation: Disney, Pixar, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, DreamWorks, Netflix, Bento Box …. Begun in the 1980s, and slowly expanding in stature starting in the mid-’90s, CalArts’ showcase has evolved into something resembling a friendlier version of an NFL combine,...

And so we’ve arrived at an ultra-rare Tuesday national holiday in the States. For some, that means an extra-long holiday weekend. Others might be taking advantage of the day off by watching the Coney Island hot dog-eating contest and then departing from the living room for the remainder of the day.
But for those who will remain glued to the couch on this July 4th, the world of TV has once again provided a treasure trove of non-stop programming. By our count, 36 networks are devoting significant amounts of their Independence Day airtime to a single series. In the spirit of comprehensiveness and giving everyone an equal chance to join in on the fun, here’s a list of this year’s TV marathons, arranged by how well they’ll add to the quality of your holiday.

Which Boy? That boy. That boy? Witch Boy! Fox Animation has just picked up the rights to an upcoming graphic novel written by Knox Ostertag called The Witch Boy.
Witch Boy centers on 13-year-old boy named Aster, whose family raises all their girls to be witches and boys to be shapeshifters. Aster has yet to shift but he has gotten very interested in witchcraft, which is grounds upon being exiled in Aster's family. But when a danger threatens the other boys, it's up to Aster to help... with witchcraft.
Knox Ostertag has already gathered some fame for her work on the Disney Channel TV show Star vs. the Forces of Evil, so this is obviously the next big step in her career.
This could be a great new graphic novel, and while I do have hope for it to succeed, it's quite a big step for Fox to pick it up before it's even released.

Jeffrey Tambor is a fantastically prolific actor, appearing in everything from Hill Street Blues to Star Vs. The Forces Of Evil, with a ton of rightly celebrated comedic and dramatic performances in between. One cinematic milestone he was not in, however, was Ghost, as he was forced to remind Ryan Seacrest this week during an appearance on Live With Kelly And Ryan.
Now, given the fact that Tambor mentions that people frequently confuse him with the late Vincent Schiavelli—who played the terrifying Subway Ghost in the aforementioned Patrick Swayze flick—in his new book, and the fact that Seacrest seemed to have a question about the confusion prepped and on-hand, it seems pretty likely that the host’s “flub” was less than genuine. That being said, Tambor’s reaction seems perfectly real, quickly switching into a smirking, pitying faux-anger at Seacrest that’s a lot of fun to behold...
