    Warning: Spoilers
I saw the advert for this programme, and from the title I knew it was something to do with television, and then I read a review for it saying that it was like a real-life version of The Royle Family, and when I tried it I was so glad I watched it. Narrated by Caroline Aherne (from The Royle Family), television at some time or another is part of everybody's life in Great Britain, and this documentaries takes a number of people from all walks of life, all couples, families or friends with various characteristics and ways of life, whether they be white, black, Asian, young, middle-aged, old, straight, gay, and we watch them watch television. They basically watch the most recent television, i.e. from the week, and we see their reactions, physical and comments, to the memorable and most talked about moments from significant programmes, i.e. news, dramas, soap operas, documentaries, comedy, charity events, reality television, natural history, medical programmes, cooking and food programmes, and much more. As each episode goes on we get to know, and many cases enjoy, watching the people as they watch what we watched and see their quips and discussions of what was going on, and in many cases you can associate and agree with what they are saying, or you can just laugh at it. This programme is very reminiscent of many other experimental "look at ourselves" documentaries, it is fascinating viewing because of the various opinions and expressions people have to programmes you may or may not know, it is a good way to catch up with what has been going on, and it is funny to watch the bickering and funny things said and done while the telly is on, especially with the distinctive characters, e.g. the gay couple, manly blokes and the posh drunks, a fantastic documentary. Very good!
  • Oddly entertaining. It's a great way of picking up on tv progs you've missed. It's also great to see what to avoid. Sooo glad I missed Mariah Carey's Christmas special. Has anyone totted up how much each household pays for all these subscriptions?

The gogglers reactions can be a bit OTT, which is quite annoying. Curious biscuit and cake displays or amazing novelty mugs that I wouldn't give cupboard room too.

I shouldn't really like this, I mean a tv program about people watching tv? But it's so addictive and I've really become very fond of my families, they are so funny and at times laugh out loud funny. Me and my husband talk daft like some of them, might start drinking wine too.
  • Gogglebox is one of my favorite shows it makes me laugh or cry its not like one of those terrible reaction shows its real peoples reactions so you know that its not staged plus most of the people on there are utterly hilarious especially Jenny and Lee are the most adorable/funny duo you will ever see. Also the Malones are a very emotional/funny family and the food they put out just makes you hungry lol. Mary and Giles are a lovely old fashioned couple, Mary is very emotional and Giles has the best sense of humor ever!!!!!!!
  • I don't live in the UK anymore and this show is perfect for catching up on politics, TV shows, game shows, reality shows and anything going on in the UK. The first seasons were finding themselves but now they settled in I really find it funny and entertaining.

I've discovered many great series just by watching Gogglebox

The best show on TV at the moment. Very very funny!!
  • Warning: Spoilers
    Words fail me.

They put a posh couple, a gay couple, a loud couple, a typical family, etc etc, and they all act stupid and play up for the cameras, some shouting and screaming at the TV, as you do, but only when there are numerous cameras in their faces. The northern girl went on to win 'i'm a celebrity, 2016', book to follow no doubt , It really is dire. Avoid at all costs! If you watch this rubbish, you really must be bored out of your mind. Go for a jog, save yourself! People just don't behave like they don't! And people apparently want to sit in their living room, watching other people sit in their living room, watching junk TV? How does crap like this ever get aired? Its pathetic!
  • I always have such a good laugh with the family watching Gogglebox. It's quality entertainment - I absolutely love it!

Why would I want to watch a tv show... of people watching tv?! I'd rather waste my life in other ways thanks!
  • This show is the highlight of my week. Extremely funny.
  • I love this show and hope that it never ends!!!!

We can't get enough of it!!!

Jenny and Lee are hilarious probably one of my favorites Mary and Giles crease me up!! They have obviously been together for a long time but their relationship is hilarious.

Brother and sister, Sophie and Pete are also one of our favorites they are so funny. Pete themes like a natural comedian.

Stephen and Daniel are also one of our favourite couples they are naturally funny.

Tremaine Twain and tristian are amazing too.

    Absolutely love the Siddiqui family!

Loving the Malone family and their doggies!, Please Channel 4 do not ever stop this program!!
  • Me and my wife have been addicted to this since it began in 2013. We've lost some of our favourites such as the late Leon and June, whilst gaining more along the way such as hilarious Brother and Sister duo, Pete and Sophie. Lee and Jenny will always be our absolute favourites.

Easy to watch, warming and fun! What more could you want for an hour every Friday? Love it. May it never end.
  • I don't really watch TV anymore so this is an awesome way to learn about what people are watching nowadays. Not to mention some cast members always make amusing comments and relatable reactions to the shows they are watching. Sometimes you can also tell there's a genuine bond between the couples/families which is lovely to watch. I don't always agree with the views of the cast members but it's nice to see different perspectives and realise how we are all part of a diverse society.
  • Take a number of, probably very nice people, but just so boring. Let them watch telly programs and comment on them, unfortunately the comments are so insipid and uninspiring it is hard to watch. It is a sad indictment of our Twitter/Facebook age where non-entities can become TV gods and celebs despite a total lack of charisma or intelligence or talent of any kind. In our constantly on-line age this is what passes for entertainment and that is just sad. Do not just switch on to get company or discussion find some real friends to talk to and switch of this dross.
  • It is quite funny yet calming. Best combination for watching a series.
  • I was late to the party with this one, having only watched the most recent two series, but so glad I got there eventually!

So so funny and a reflection of what goes on in a real family home. So many comments sou d just like my house. Great show keep it up

One of the worst things I have seen on tv .nobody acts like that when they watch TV. Attention seekers.lucky it got a 1.
  • Having binge watched every episode, except seasons 1 to 5 inclusive, we find ourselves mourning the loss of the families wit and compassion to our fellow people of the arts etc. Fantastic work Channel 4.
  • Really enjoy the show but can't understand what Scottish couple brings to the show and this is coming from a Scottish person surely in our nation there's a more relating or humorous family rather than quite clearly a couple who have came from a family with money. Yes I understand there is always going to be an issue with the rest of the uk understanding what a lot of the Scottish people are saying and obviously agree that the show had to have some representation from our beautiful country but surely you can find a worthwhile couple or family that would be better represented by the show and Scotland rather than the quite obviously wealthy young couple that we currently view.

I couldent believe that Izzy told Ellie I to get rid of that fxxxx cat that's Not somthing you that you say on National Television even if she can't stand cats poor furbaby Just not what to do or say.the poor cat did nothing for her to try and grab it like that I don't agree with what she did as its a defenseless pet Ellie s little boy is getting so big now what a little cuttie he is on the rest of the show it was up there with the best programmes love watching the the different people on it Giles and Mary I still can't get them even after all this time I don't know if it's the way they are or if there putting it on for TV.

On paper is sounds good or somewhat interesting as a person who loves talking about tv shows however this is the most cringyworthy tv show in the world maybe even the most cringworth thing ever created the people on it are extremely annoying the narrator is so annoying it winds me up even the music is annoyingly cringey it's a cringe fest
  • The show is about people who watch TV and give the most clearly scripted comments. When I, and everyone else I know, watch TV I don't talk the whole way though a show or scream at what is being shown on screen. The people are clearly being told how to react and
  • Gogglebox is a show on Channel 4 from Studio Lambert that has lasted 8 years as of writing.

It's premise is... peeps sit on their duffs and watch TV while praising/ranting/swearing/whining about what they have to watch. That's it. What's the entertainment value in that? Couldn't you just do the same thing on the internet? Whatever. I know well the cast members are well loved, and I see that, but they truly can be unlikeable at times. Their reactions feel heavily scripted, like they're forced to say things, too.

Overall, Gogglebox is boring, repetitive, and overall still there in our lives. If you like it, that's fine.
  • Finding something to binge can be quite difficult these days. I told myself I would give the show a shot, after all, people reacting to the absurdity on TV, who wouldn't like it?

I got through one, and I take pride in that accomplishment. It was painful. Incredibly so. I'm sure it got better by the 20th season or whatever, and it's much improved now, but the sour taste the people from the first episode left in my mouth will take a few days to leave.

Skip this show unless you like watching drummed up schlock, though you'll get more entertainment from Storage Wars or Ancient Aliens.
  • This is a Channel 4 series in which we watch people as they watch television in their own homes in various places in the UK during the previous week.

This is a good idea, which could work like a real version of The Royle Family. However, it has little of that sitcom's humour, and isn't entertaining most of the time - because most of the participants don't say much that's worth saying.
