TV Series | TV-MA | | Biography, Crime, Drama
An anthology series centered around America's most notorious crimes and criminals.
The second series took liberties in showing the "relationship" between Gianni Versace, and his eventual killer, Andrew Cunanan. Though Cunanan was highly obsessed with Versace, according to those who knew him, and told many tales about spending time with him, it has never been proven that the two even met at all. Some insist the scene where they met very briefly at a San Francisco bar was true, and is what began Cunanan's visions of grandeur involving Versace. However, Versace's long-time lover and companion, Anthony D'Amico (played by Ricky Martin in the series), insists that even this incident never occurred. He said of the evening in question, "I remember it clearly, because it was quite an event. That supposed meeting never took place." He also added that Gianni didn't drink alcohol, "so even the champagne scene with Cunanan is fictitious." Whether Cunanan briefly knew Versace, and then became obsessed, or was a true stalker, entirely imagining every moment of their supposed relationship, is still up for debate.
On the show, the judge at the preliminary hearing was played by a man. In reality the judge was a woman, Kathleen Kennedy Powell.
