In Netflix’s new docuseries, “American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson,” director Floyd Russ revisits — once again — the 1994 murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman and the subsequent criminal trial of O.J. Simpson.
It’s been 30 years since the “trial of the century,” but time doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to this double homicide case. The rise and fall of Simpson, a former football star accused of killing Brown and Goldman, is a story that continues to fascinate viewers. Simpson died at age 76 last April.
What more can be said about a case that has spawned countless documentaries, including ESPN’s Oscar-winning docuseries “O.J.: Made in America” as well as the Emmy-winning FX scripted series “The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story”?
Apparently, enough for Netflix to commission a four-parter.
While a good portion of “American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson” rehashes what has already been said in “O.J.: Made in America,...

Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion is getting a sequel with Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow in final talks to reprise their roles from the 1997 film.
The pair of actresses will also executive produce, and Tim Federle is attached to direct.
Production is eyeing a June start date, potentially in Los Angeles.
The reunion of all reunions was teased back in November 2024 when Sorvino told People that a deal had been made with a director and that she and Kudrow were on board as Eps. Then Kudrow shared in January the update that a “really good” script had been written.
Original scribe Robin Schiff returned to pen the sequel film. She has recently been behind Netflix’s hit series Emily in Paris as an executive producer and showrunner. Veteran producer Laurence Marks will also return after his work on the original film.

The reunion is on.
A sequel to Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is moving ahead at 20th Century Studios, with Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow in negotiations to reprise their starring roles. The pair will also serve as executive producers.
Tim Federle, who wrote and directed the Disney+ original movie Better Nate Than Never and who created High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, will direct the feature, which is eyeing a June start date. Sources say the studio is looking to possibly shoot in Los Angeles, but nothing has been set.
Robin Schiff, who wrote the original and is known for showrunning the Neflix hit Emily in Paris, returned to pen the sequel. Laurence Mark, the veteran producer who produced the original, is also back in same role. Barry Kemp, the creator of 1980s series Newhart, is also producing.

This post contains spoilers for the first episode of Paradise, which Hulu released over the weekend.
When This Is Us debuted in the fall of 2016, its pilot episode concluded with a twist that recontextualized everything we had been watching to that point: Instead of telling the parallel, contemporaneous stories of three groups of people who were seemingly only linked by several of them sharing a birthday, all of them were part of the same nuclear family, and one of the stories was set in the past, showing how two of...

After winning Emmy Awards for his performance in American Crime Story and This Is Us, Sterling K. Brown is very much in demand, which means he has to turn down “very tempting” gigs like playing a bad guy in The Boys. In a new interview with Variety, Brown says he was heartbroken to say no to a season-long gig with the Prime Video superhero series after showrunner Eric Kripke — who enlisted him to recur as vampire hunter Gordon Walker on Supernatural — offered the part to him. “It think it was a bad guy [role], because it was very tempting,” Brown told the outlet. “But a full-season arc, they are in Toronto — it’s tough. Listen, these are champagne problems I’m talking about here! But because I’m blessed enough to already have certain things in place, I get a chance to be a bit more choosy.” Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, Brown’s manager of 25 years,...

Sterling K. Brown is done crying every week.
Two days before Thanksgiving, Brown is sitting at a long table in a photo studio in Culver City, digging into a take-out lunch as he begins to break down the plot of his new Hulu drama series, “Paradise.”
Brown chooses his words deliberately while simultaneously ramping up his energy to match his passion for the subject. It’s a significant departure from “This Is Us,” the NBC family drama that made Brown a star as fan-favorite character Randall Pearson, and was known for giving audiences a good weep. Though “Paradise” hails from the same creator and executive producer, Dan Fogelman, this series aims to provoke very different emotions in viewers. It’s a contemporary political thriller with a twisty plot. At times, it’s downright terrifying.

Leaked behind-the-scenes footage of a seemingly innocuous slow-dance scene from the set of It Ends With Us is quickly becoming the Zapruder tape for followers of the feud between the movie’s star, Blake Lively, and her director and co-star, Justin Baldoni.
Baldoni’s legal team, who provided the video to The Daily Mail, say it disproves several key allegations Lively made against Baldoni in a lawsuit she filed in New York in December accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and of orchestrating a smear campaign. Baldoni filed his own complaint last week against Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds, seeking at least $400 million in damages for waging their own alleged smear campaign, amid other actions.
The nearly 10-minute video shot in May of 2023 shows three takes of a scene from It Ends With Us, which is based on a 2016 Colleen Hoover novel, when Lively and Baldoni’s characters, Lily and Ryle,...

There’s a scene in “The Devil Wears Prada” where Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly is fighting to keep her top fashion magazine job. Over coffee in Paris, Priestly slips a piece of paper to her boss containing the names of “designers, photographers, editors, writers, models — all of whom found by me, nurtured by me and have promised me they will follow me whenever and if ever I choose to leave.” Naturally, the boss reconsidered and Priestly won the day.

In the era of streaming, there are always new series to check out for viewers of all tastes, and the best TV shows to stream this week highlight that fact. With Netflix, Hulu, Max, and the other big-name streamers constantly putting out content, there are new shows as well as new episodes of hit series becoming available each week. With so much out there, it can be hard to keep track of everything that should be on the watchlist, but there are some notable titles worth pointing out.
This week, there are exciting new docuseries made available to audiences, taking a look at things like the scandal of Sean “Diddy” Combs, as well as a peek behind the scenes at Saturday Night Live. However, the majority of the streaming options for the week come down to returning shows. This includes Harley Quinn back for more mayhem in DC’s animated world.

In the two decades since wrapping up his 10-season run as neurotic paleontologist Ross Geller on the beloved NBC sitcom “Friends,” David Schwimmer has branched out across genres and mediums.
Following the series finale of “Friends” in 2004, Schwimmer, unlike his costars, decided to move from Los Angeles back to his native New York City, and briefly stepped away from the spotlight. He has spent the intervening years chasing his own creative pursuits: returning to his first love of theater and conquering the West End and Broadway stages; voicing Melman the giraffe in the “Madagascar” franchise; appearing in some niche indies; and parlaying his experience as an episodic director into helming his own features.

Instead, Goosebumps: The Vanishing tells an entirely new, separate story starring a new set of teens and older supporting stars. David Schwimmer and two key creatives behind Goosebumps have discussed the show giving him his first lead horror role. The Disney+ anthology series is inspired by the children's book series of the same name by R. L. Stine and tells a different family-friendly horror story every season. The upcoming Goosebumps season 2, which is subtitled The Vanishing and follows teenage siblings who uncover a dangerous secret hidden in their new home, boasts a brand-new ensemble cast that includes Schwimmer, Ana Ortiz, Sam McCarthy, Jayden Bartels, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, and Francesca Noel.
ScreenRant had the opportunity to interview Goosebumps showrunner Hilary Winston, co-creator Rob Letterman, and star David Scwhimmer ahead of the new season. Letterman and Winston revealed that they were already thinking of going with a comedy star for the role because "comedy and horror are so linked," but casting the Friends alumnus felt like a long shot.

Is Donatella Versace about to say arrivederci to the iconic fashion brand that bears her name? Or more to the point, is Capri Holdings, Versace’s American corporate owner, about to say goodbye to Donatella?
Versace’s contract with Capri Holdings expires in February and, if media reports and widespread rumors are to be believed, Donatella’s future at her family’s firm is uncertain.
As originally reported by Wwd, Capri Holdings is reportedly working with Barclays to sell both Versace and Jimmy Choo, to better focus on the relaunch of American ready-to-wear brand Michael Kors.
Versace’s contract with Capri is set to expire next month and the designer is said to have clashed repeatedly with Capri CEO John D. Idol. Last week Mf Fashion, an Italian industry trade, reported that Donatella’s contract, up in Feburary, would not be renewed. Mf speculated that Donatella Versace would be replaced by Dario Vitale,...

Over the past decade or so, the limited series has become one of the most prestigious and highly regarded entertainment formats. Shows like "The Queen's Gambit," "Chernobyl," and "The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story," helped establish the limited series as a dominant force in Hollywood, and the accompanying category at the Primetime Emmy Awards has been one of the most competitive over the last several years. Acclaimed series like "I May Destroy You," "Mare of Easttown," "Unorthodox," and "Ripley" — all of which likely would have been shoo-in winners in earlier years — have lost out recently after well-earned nominations

Spoiler Alert! This story contains details from Monday’s midseason finale of NCIS: Origins on CBS.
Exclusive: Up until this week, fans of the NCIS franchise were led to believe that it was Mike Franks who had the biggest impact on Gibbs landing a job with the military police. And for the most part, it’s still true — except we now know that his rough-around-the-edges boss doesn’t deserve all the credit.
Fascinated by how “unexpected people come in and out of our lives who are sometimes being the most influential,” Showrunners David J. North and Gina Monreal decided to craft a story that involved Gibbs finding inspiration from the unlikeliest of people — his ill-tempered landlord. Titled “Blue Bayou” after Linda Ronstadt’s 1977 cover of the Roy Orbison classic, Gibbs (Austin Stowell) forms a...

In Season 1 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, fans were blessed with Camille Grammer's iconic line, "And then I realized, 'Oh my god that's who it is, it's Faye Resnick. The morally corrupt, Faye Resnick.'" It was in Episode 9, titled "The Dinner Party from Hell" (2010).
The ladies had gathered at Camille's home and got into a bizarre spat with psychic, Allison DuBois, who famously predicted Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky's split. Tensions started after the host said Faye "posed naked in Playboy after the O.J. [Simpson] trial."
Camille was quick to note that her feature in the magazine was "clothed." Already feuding with Kyle—who had brought her "sister"-like friend, Faye, as a guest—the actress-turned-reality TV star sparked a full-blown feud at the table.
At that time, the show didn't dig deep into Faye's controversial ties with O.J. and his murdered ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson.

Last Wednesday, social media greeted the shocking news about the evidently targeted killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in midtown Manhattan with morbid mockery, blasting the U.S. insurance industry for profiting off the denial of life-saving medical treatments. The next day, the New York Police Department released two more images of their primary suspect in the shooting — the first to show his entire face — and the internet collectively swooned.

Cinematographer now turned director Rachel Morrison knows a thing to two about managing an impressive feat and breaking boundaries as a woman. In 2018, Morrison, best known for her work on Fruitvale Station and Black Panther, became the first female cinematographer ever nominated for an Academy Award. Reflecting on garnering her nomination for Netflix’s Mudbound, she acknowledges the hoops women in the industry have to go through. “Cinematography is a craft that nobody pictures women in. So I’m used to being the exception to the rule,” Morrison says,” Realizing [that] so many women actually can relate to this idea of it’s not enough to be good at the thing you do. You have to present a certain way and carry yourself a certain way.”
It makes sense then that Morrison’s first foray into feature film directing, following a stint of TV directorial debuts for American Crime Story, The Mandalorian and The Morning Show,...

While writing “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez,” showrunner Stuart Zicherman had one thought about casting an actor to play Aaron Hernandez, the late NFL tight end who was convicted of murder in 2015 and later died by suicide in prison. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh, man, we’re never going to find someone to play this,’” Zicherman tells Gold Derby.
But any apprehension about building a show around Hernandez, a preternaturally talented athlete and budding star who made several grave mistakes in his life, fell away when Zicherman saw Josh Andres Rivera.
“In the audition process, we saw a lot of people performing the role and they could play the anger and they could play the darkness and they could play the murderous part of Aaron,” Zicherman says. “What we needed was somebody who could play the other side of it too. Someone who could play the funny, goofy Aaron — the sensitive and aspirational Aaron.

Actor Lance Reddick, known for his roles in The Wire and the John Wick franchise, died last March at the age of 60 from heart disease. Reddick was a fantastic talent and we're all the poorer for not getting to see more performances from him.
The producers behind the Disney+ show Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on author Rick Riordan's book series, were left in a difficult spot, since Reddick played the role of the Greek god Zeus, who starts the plot of the show into motion by accussing young Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) of stealing his master lightning bolt. That storyline got resolved in the show's first season, which wrapped up early this year. But Zeus features in the later books, including The Sea of Monsters, which will form the basis of season 2.

Patrick Radden Keefe wanted his 2019 book Say Nothing to be different from other accounts of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Before sitting down to write the book, the author had noticed partisan politics seeping into many histories he was reading of the sectarian conflict. “I felt as though I wasn’t seeing real people. I was seeing caricatures — be they good or evil, depending on your point of view,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter.
He sought to make his narrative more complex, hoping his readers would have “complicated” feelings about the people he was chronicling. So he started his story with the disappearance of Jean McConville, a Belfast mother of 10 accused of being a British informant by the Irish Republican Army. She is one of the “Disappeared,” a group of people thought to be quietly murdered by Republicans during the roughly 30-year period of sectarian violence called the Troubles. (The...

[This story contains spoilers from the season finale of American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez.]
For Stu Zicherman, the biggest challenge when setting out to make American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez was figuring out how to make their lead character “relatable, watchable, empathetic — and then trying to string that through the entire season,” she showrunner tells The Hollywood Reporter.
“That was always the focus in the writers room,” he says. “It’s like, ‘How can we be true to the story, be true to all the other characters [but] also find ways to Aaron’s humanity that feel like it’s cascading out of control?”
Now that the true-crime series from Ryan Muprhy has released its finale, Zicherman is able to offer his assessment of the 10-episode FX limited series. And he says that giving people reason to keep watching was key.

The crime drama continues to be a popular sub-genre that captivates audiences, often featuring highly flawed characters and street-level stakes. This year, Apple TV+'s Presumed Innocent is one of the biggest breakout crime dramas, in addition to Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. The latter speaks to a further sub-genre of this sub-genre, which is crime dramas based on true stories.
In recent years, the true-crime TV sub-genre has seen popular titles like Mindhunter, The Staircase, Unbelievable, The Dropout, Hulu's Under the Bridge, and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. These shows often feature impressive casts, and they frequently become major streaming hits. Netflix, in particular, has become a go-to destination for these types of shows, which vary from truly chilling to more comedic.

FX is transporting viewers back to Belfast during the Troubles with “Say Nothing,” a limited series that the network released a trailer for on Wednesday.
The trailer has a sort of kiss-kiss-bang-bang ‘70s thriller tone that emphasizes the thrill of young people fighting for a radical cause. That is not the tone of journalist Patrick Radden Keefe’s excellent book on which the series is based, which is more neutral and sad. FX’s description of the show, however, hints that the show may be more like the book. “Telling the story of various Irish Republican Army (Ira) members, ‘Say Nothing’ explores the extremes some people will go to in the name of their beliefs, the way a deeply divided society can suddenly tip over into armed conflict, the long shadow of radical violence for all affected, and the emotional and psychological costs of a code of silence,” according to the network.

Ryan Murphy has heard the questions about the naming conventions of his various FX series, but he doesn’t see the validity in them.
The TV mogul tells Deadline that he would “strongly disagree” with suggestions that Grotesquerie should have been under the American Horror Story banner, or that Aaron Hernandez’s story would’ve been better suited as a new installment of American Crime Story rather than the first in a new anthology series, American Sports Story.
“Grotesquerie has nothing in common with American Horror Story. It just does not. I think it’s the difference between doing Don’t Look Now and Halloween would could never have fit into that show. It was never considered for that. It’s a much different animal,” he said of the new horror series starring Niecy Nash, which revealed a huge turn in the story that Murphy and FX Chief John Landgraf also discussed with Deadline.

Note: This story contains spoilers from “Grotesquerie” Episode 7.
After the first six episodes, you would be forgiven for thinking “Grotesquerie” is just another Ryan Murphy show — a thriller filled with larger-than-life characters, brilliant actors and lovingly rendered horror. But like “American Horror Story,” “American Crime Story” and “Pose” before it, “Grotesquerie” marks a huge creative swing for the acclaimed showrunner. And it all comes down to Episode 7’s big twist.
“I’ve never done anything that worked out in advance, that meticulously designed,” series co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy told TheWrap. “It was so fun to do.”
It’s a fitting addition for a fall that marks Murphy’s official return to FX under its new parent company, Disney.
In its first six episodes, “Grotesquerie” tells the story of Lois Tryon (Niecy Nash-Betts), an alcoholic detective whose husband is trapped in a coma. When a serial killer with a knack for staging morbid,...

Undoubtedly, the most famous role of David Schwimmer's came in Friends as Ross Geller, yet many often wonder what happened to him after the show ended. As one of the most influential sitcoms in TV history, Friends' 10 highly-ranked seasons catapulted the six main actors into stardom. Some of these actors, notably Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, have gone on to have big movie careers beyond Friends' run while others have persisted with smaller roles. Regardless, no one can deny that all six actors are remembered for their defining moments in Friends, which ran between 1994 and 2004.
One such actor is David Schwimmer, who is most known for his role as Ross Geller. The actor was so integral to the sitcom that Schwimmer even directed several Friends episodes, though it is safe to say that many do not know much of what the actor did after the show ended its run.
